I am a very complicated patient but he never loses his patience with me with I'm tired and feeling unhappy about my pain which he is doing his part but my body doesn't comply. I have also had some experience with Chelsea and she fits right in and seems to enjoy what she is doing and is good at it. The front desk is always kind and polite and there is at least one more woman that is the one that processes the medication requests. I have dealt with Christine since I've been going to Dr. Ho and she great. She has a big and important job getting our prescriptions done in a very timely manner and she is so considerate and understanding. I know she goes out of her way to do all she is capable to make sure you get your medication. I'm sure many have experienced having to deal with pharmacies that don't have any or not enough, very rare, but it happens. Christine doesn't want you to suffer so she does all she can within her power to help you. I hope they never leave.

I was sent here during their 2024 merge and thought I was still in-network and was not. They did not go over my insurance before scheduling my lumbar injections and although I checked this address on my insurance website, the surgical center within the office was out of network. I had no prior way to know how their billing worked and they failed miserably. I received no help from office staff to resolve this issue and I will never go back. The surgical center bills separately under 'Interventional Pain Management, LLC' and not 'Centers for Pain Control'. You must get a tax ID# and call your insurance provider to be sure they are in network because they may not warn you as other medical offices do before scheduling procedures. Lesson learned!

I went for pain management due to my spinal stenosis. I made an appointment with Doctor Pontinen at…read morethe Hazel Crest office. When I got there I was told they were very backed up and they wanted me to see another doctor. I said I specifically want to see Doctor Pontinen because of the great reviews I read about him and said I'd wait. He did see me and we decided on a set of steroid shots that I was told the goal was to relieve half the pain with the 1st set then two weeks later come in for a second set of shots if the 1st set alleviated some pain. Doctor Pontinen was very good and I just felt a couple of bee sting type pinches during the 1st procedure. About half the pain did go away over the two weeks and I went to the Midway Chicago office for the second set and saw Doctor Shukla. Very different results. The procedure was very painful and the Doctor said the pain will go away in about 15 minutes. Nope, never did. I actually had more pain after the 2nd set than after the 1st set. I decided not to go back and instead was referred to a Neurosurgeon my PCP recommended. In the meantime, I got my insurance EOB showing I overpaid $30 for my telehealth visit I needed to have between my 1st and 2nd sets of shots. This is where the big problem with MAPS is. They make you pay upfront but when it comes time for being reimbursed, it's a huge runaround...all for just $30! Every time I called I was transferred from one person to another. I was then told they can't reimburse me until they get payment from the insurance. I contacted the insurance and they said they paid on the 17th of the month and the check cleared on the 20th of the month. When I called back on the 23rd of the month, again a runaround finally getting a call back from their billing department in California! I was told they did not get payment yet from the insurance. I said not only did they get paid but the check cleared on the 20th! Now I have to wait until they verify what I told them from the insurance company. I have a bad vibe about this place and don't recommend it for anything other than maybe more minor aches & pains. If you do use them, beware of their office practices.

The office staff are friendly. professional and will get you through to the right person if you call with a problem. Terrible throughput terrible efficiency. The only saving grace this office has is the doctor it's self!!! Doc is fast and efficient and was very apologetic after getting hung up in a long surgical case. This offices scheduling waiting and room assignment system are rubbish. But the doctors keep it certifiable. 4/5 barely (1/5 if we add in the waiting room deductions)
