    N & J Auto Diesel Repair - 2nd bill

    N & J Auto Diesel Repair

We were on vacation and from another state. We overnighted in Gaylord and upon leaving on Saturday,…read moreour brakes failed and we had a leaking brake line. We called many places and everyone was closing at noon and couldn't help. We finally found N&J and when we called Norm answered, heard our issue and said he could fix it that day assuming it wasn't something beyond the brake line. It was towed to them using our AAA program and between Norm and Joey they quickly started on the issue for us. After replacing the line, bleeding the brakes (sorry Norm, I know on my Chevy that is a pain....) and 2.5 hours later I was on my way. $312 was one heck of a value for out of towners desperate to continue on to our final vacation destination in the U.P. Reading the negative reviews I have to wonder if those people really appreciate being helped in the worst of situations. This shop and specifically Norm and Joey were outstanding, friendly and very kind. They made a terrible situation for our family a fleeting memory a few hours later and the cost was reasonable compared to my own shop at home. Thank you guys and I hope my review helps others make the decision to use your services - you were GREAT and your price was very reasonable. The Johnson's, Miami County, Ohio

Labor rates are determined by looking them up in a book. You can't miss it by 40%. I was also grossly overcharged for a 10 mile tow ($250). They saw the out of state plate and took full advantage. I am writing to the state attorney general to have them look into their records for similar rip offs of out of state vehicles.

Direct answeres and inexpensive. However, they kept delaying my tow. I needed to tow a fifth wheel. They said they had some trucks break down that day and I understood it happens, but then it happened again and then they tell me another time they can only do what I needed tuesdays and wed which also made sense as it wasn't an emergency And that was their slow days. The day before the tow, I called and asked about the quote I was given to make sure I didn't get up there and not have all the funds. They did raise it almsot $200 but even then I just had been waiting and just needed to get my fifth wheel asap so it didn't matter to me. Then the day of I'm four hours out and already headed up there, I call them as I hadn't received a call yet, and he tells me his truck broke down (again) and that he would call me back when he figured it all out. I immediatly after waiting as long as I did was just over the non stop pushing it off. the guy who I purchased the fifth wheel from was getting impatient as well. So I called Ron's auto wrecker in Gaylord and they didn't give me excuses like I felt I had been giving time and time again with Phil's towing. They told me to not turn around and they could do it that afternoon. They followed me immediatly, no waiting and we got my fifth wheel finally and they were so pleasent And also inexpensive. I now regret not calling them sooner. phils towing seemed as if they possibly just didn't want to do it looking back and they should have just said like many other towing companies did they simply didn't want to do it. I would have moved on. They never called me back when he "figured it all out" that just showed me again they just didn't want to do it. Instead they kept telling me different reasons Why I would have to wait And they probably were hoping I'd just find someone else. Instead I trusted them and waited on them. Bummer really. This could have just been my experience and they may very well be a great company however I will never call them again.

Serra Body and Paint - This is what Serra Body & Paint says that $11,000+ damage looks like!

I hit a beaver on my way to work one morning. It was a light hit - just the front bumper, grill, an…read moreair exchanger, radiator, and a few plastic pieces that help direct air was all that was damaged. No metal pieces were bent, no frame damage, and even the A/C condenser survived with no damage. My normal repair shop was backed up with customers and didn't have room for me to have my car towed there, so I chose to have my car towed to Serra (then Bill Marsh) Body & Paint solely on their reputation, and they were one of the body shops that my insurance recommended. When I called them, they also had room and could accept my car right away. My insurance adjuster initially totaled my car, as it has over 200K miles and wrongfully thought that I would just want a check for the downpayment on a new car. Long story short, after I found out that AAA's initial damage estimate was less than half of the value of the car, they reworked the claim so the car would be repaired instead of being totaled. In the meantime, Serra (then Bill Marsh) Body and Paint was less than helpful. I received a FEW calls wanting to know when I was going to clean out my car so that it could be scrapped! It took over a weeks worth of calls and emails between me, them, and my AAA agent for them to finally get on the same page and tear the car down to get a proper estimate for repair. By this time, Bill Marsh Paint & Body was days before Serra was taking over, and they just wanted my car "off their books" according to Ron. I received yet another phone call from Ron stating that my car was totaled, and they needed me to clean it out so that it could be scrapped. I didn't even know they had looked at my car yet! They never went over the estimate with me, and when I arrived in person - once again they never discussed the estimate, they just stressed how much my car needed to be "off their books"! The person behind the desk finally printed up their estimate (over $11,000) which was nearly 3X the amount that AAA estimated, which was basically a "go away" estimate as they just needed my car "off the books" according to Ron. Mind you, this was after my car had been up there a month at this point, and a full TWO WEEKS after AAA agreed to have them repair the car instead of totaling it out. Do yourself a favor, and DO NOT waste your time bringing your car here for repair! If anyone from Serra corporate reads this, the BEST thing you can do to bring this body shop back to the reputation that it once had, is to eliminate the current employees that are dragging down that once good reputation. Personally, I wouldn't consider Serra Body & Paint a viable repair option until Ron, Bruce, and Jeff have been replaced with people who remember that the customer walking through the door is who keeps the lights on and the bills paid. As long as those three are still working there, I'd go somewhere where you'll be treated with respect, and valued as a customer. I'd HIGHLY recommend Fox Motors Collision Center, and Gerber Collision & Glass. I've had NOTHING but great experiences with both shops. We were ALWAYS treated with respect, (unlike Serra Paint & Body who treated us like second rate citizens), and their work was second to none.
