Dr. Belanger is a great specialist. I had an acute Achilles tendon injury and luckily was able to be seen the same morning I called, after visiting urgent care the night before. Dr. Belanger is articulate and has great bedside manner and explained exactly what caused my injury and how to prevent it in the future, along with prescribing physicial therapy. Cons are the staff, they are very cold and condescending. I arrived at 8am for an 8:15 appointment and they were upset j was there that early. I'm not sure why. The office also doesn't like it when you ask questions about billing. Besides that, everything was groovy. read more

I don't have any other orthopedic doctor to compare Dr. Michael Belanger to, but in comparison to many other doctors that I've been to throughout my life, he certainly was one of the best. My accident was on a early Saturday morning in April of 2010. I was walking to my car via the back walk way/driveway and it had rained the night before causing water to pool up in the bottom of the drive where I park my car. As I took a step off of the walk and into the drive, my right foot slipped out in front of me and my left foot stayed in its place, however; the tibia bone (inside ankle bone) went towards the ground. I heard and felt a snap and I knew instantly that I had broken my ankle. My friend drove me to the Fatima hospital emergency room where I was seen quickly and upon a thorough examination and x-rays; it was determined that I had broken both the tibia and fibula bones and there was a good chance I would need surgery. The emergency room doctor referred me to Dr. Belanger at The Center for orthopedics and they were able to schedule an appointment for me on Monday. Going to see Dr. Belanger I knew nothing about him. My roommate at the time drove me to my appointment (since I broke my left ankle and own a 5 speed auto, I couldn't drive for 3 months.) I checked in with the receptionist, was taken in for more x-rays and then finally met with Dr. Belanger shortly thereafter. He was very kind and funny - unusual for a doctor. He's a younger man, which is probably the reason I thought he was so dang cool, and cute! He explained that yes, I would indeed need surgery and advised me to wait about a week to do so in order to let the swelling go down. He was very patient with my questions and explained everything in detail. The surgery was done at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, my mother came with me and Dr. Belanger came out prior to me going in under the knife and explained everything to me and my mother again. Dr. Belanger did a fantastic job with the surgery, leaving minimal scarring (considering I have a plate and 11 screws in my left ankle.) All of my follow up visits at The Center for Orthopedics were pleasant and without complication. This place was always busy, packed to the brim with people, but they are efficient in seeing everyone in a timely manner. Even Dr. Belangers secretary was very great to work with. I wish I hadn't had to have gone through this horrendous accident, but hey... it happened. The only good outcome of the whole ordeal is that I was thankfully matched up with Dr. Belanger and The Center for Orthopedics and working with them made the experience much easier to deal with. read more

Unprofessional staff and very rude! Line was out to the door at 8 am to check in. (10 people deep) An 8 :15 am appointment, now 9:20 and just got an X-ray! The plus side, Dr. Yakavonis was very professional. He took his time and explained everything and listened to your concerns. The facility is to small for the amount of clients they have. They need a larger office, and should hire more staff. read more

Very busy ortho doc office with the most RUDEST staff I've ever in encountered. If they hate their job so much why can't they go find another. The front desk lady is most likely the rudest person I've ever met besides the physical therapist in the other room. Good luck if you come in, plan on being here for 2 to 3 hours. read more

Center for Orthopedic and University Orthopedic have merged together. I went to University Ortho in Johnston and had the best experience at this facility! Unlike South County Ortho, they didn't give up on me and say "sorry, can't help you", they didn't rush me to get to the next patient, they were thorough with examination. Because they want to see their patients out if pain, they put me with their awesome PA who was able to get me out of pain! I'm very grateful for this medical staff! I saw Dr Belanger when I injured my knee in the Fall of 2016. He was kind, a great listener, and qucikly recomended me for the necessary Physical Therapy services I needed to get back on my feet and back to normal. The wait times are a disgrace. Be prepared to wait a minimum of an hour after your scheduled appointment time to be seen. The woman at the reception desk is by far the rudest and most ignorant person i have come across in my life. If you have a choice, stay clear of this place. The receptionist has zero respect for patient privacy and discusses patients personal information in front of the entire waiting room. read more

I was having a problen with my shoulder so I made an appointment with Dr Michael Arcand. He walked into the room and started telling me what was hurting. I tried to explain to him that was he was saying wasn't the problem and he just ignored me. He was in such a rush to see the next patient he walked out and told me to schedule another appointment. I never got to see Dr. Belanger. I never got past the witch at the front desk. I had an 8:15 appointment and arrived on-time. I went to check in and the woman asked my name. She could not find me in the computer. I told her I would show her the appointments confirming email they had sent me. As I was pulling it up, she took another patient and a few phone calls. 10 minutes later she came back to me, looked at the email, and asked for my drivers license (why I don't know). As I was getting the license out, she proceeded to take other check-ins. The waiting room was like an assembly line of angry patients. I can clearly see why they were angry. I stormed out in total frustration. This woman needs to be fired. She is rude, useless, and doesn't possess one iota of customer service skills. I will never go back and would not recommend this place to anyone. They did nothing but cost me two hours out of my very busy schedule!! read more
