First, each of the women that worked with me were friendly and kind. Thank you. Things became strange when I was prepped and in the OR location. Because I knew the last name of the doctor who was to perform the procedure I asked the two ladies if the doctor might know of a Robert with the same last name. Out of the blue, the doctor who, unknown to me, had been standing behind the bed I was in suddenly piped up to say, "I know lots of Roberts!" That was definitely a surprise as he hadn't made his presence known especially since I've never had a procedure performed without the doctor introducing him/herself beforehand. But it was at that moment that the "medicine" kicked in and so ended the chat. Still, I never saw the man and definitely was left with the impression that he had been lurking quietly behind me, didn't feel it necessary to meet me, and was mostly interested in getting the job done ASAP. Perhaps he had a tee time. Further strangeness emerged when being driven down the freeway after the exam. I learned from my friend that because I had evidently not cleared the sedative and was still unconcious that someone had gotten me dressed so that I could leave. What?? Wow!! Was that due to an error in determining the strength/quantity of the "medicine" I was given or was it that I hadn't recovered within their timeframe and they needed to get on to the next case? Or both? Whatever the reason, I felt very much indignified and treated with very little regard or respect. Is this commonly done in this type of practice? So earlier, while undressing and changing into the gown, I placed my clothing and personal belongings in a bag that I was given, which when full, was attached to my mobile bed; it was not secured safely anywhere and therefore available to virtually anyone while I was in La La land. While undressing I had removed my wallet, keys and cell phone from my pants and put them at the bottom of the bag, but was amazed to realize after leaving the office that they had been placed properly in my pants where I typically carry them so they were obviously handled. During this handling, and while I was under the influence, what security did I have that my wallet hadn't been opened and gone through? Absolutely none. I am not accusing anyone of doing this or removing anything, I'm only pointing out a situation that someone could have easily taken advantage of and I feel stongly that it should be properly addressed. If I'm in this situation in the future I'll definitely leave anything personal/valuable in my car, locked. After the procedure, the first thing I became conscious of was that I was in my friend's car, dressed, and being driven down the road. She indicated that office staff had told her that I would be contacted the following day to check on me and discuss the results from the test. I received no call. So I guess I'll have to call or go in to see what the written info I received means and what suggestions there might be going forward. This was my first colonoscopy. I was happy to hear that my friend was told I should return in another 10 years, but I'm 71 so I doubt that will need to happen. But if I do, I'll certainly choose another provider. And hopefully one that doesn't leave the patient with the feeling of being very little more than a unit on a production line. read more

Office experience. Take responsibility for your system and staff failures. I scheduled a colonoscopy for a Thursday the day my Wife was off work. and advised them I have hypoglycemia. I did the prep for the procedure and showed up at 8:00 am. I was told that I was not on the schedule. They said I was scheduled for a Monday at 6:45. They offered to do the procedure the next day if I could stay on a liquid diet until then. Beginning hypoglycemic I did not want to go another day without eating. I called the Manager and complained about the issue. I requested that they cancel the Monday appointment. I requested that they email me proof that the appointment was canceled. I was told she didn't have access to email. She would have her scheduling staff write and mail the proof of appointment cancellation. read more

I just had a colonoscopy with Dr. Krol at the Center of Endoscopy in Oceanside. Dr. Krol found my anal cancer August 2013. After cancer treatments I'm cancer free 11 years My experience this morning was exemplary! Dr. Chiao is amazing. The problem is this facility's billing and scheduling departments due to their lack of communication. Specifically, the billing department WILL NOT call me back. I've tried to call 3 different times and gave at least a week between calls due to their voicemail stating "please give us one business day to call you back." My bill is large and while I'm fine paying it....I want to see if they accept payment plans. I do not want to come across as if I am not paying my bill and potentially to send me to collections. Also, my approval from insurance for the actual endoscopy was available for who even knows when. I had my appointment with the doctor in September and called at the end of October. Dr. Chiao's office told me the Center for Endoscopy office will be giving me a call once my insurance approved the procedure, but they did not. I was patient. I gave almost a month before calling even though I was going out of my mind wondering what was actually causing my pain when swallowing. Eventually, I called Dr. Chiao's office just in case insurance didn't approve it and what the next steps would be. The Dr's office told me to just call the center because the procedure was approved and they should have already called me. It's baffling to me how both offices that work closely together have widely different levels of communication. Lastly, (this isn't anyones fault other than my own) make sure to double check if the facility your GI doctor wants to perform the procedure is actually in your network. I just assumed it was because my doctor was in network. The center was not and my insurance requires the patient to pay 50% of the procedure for facilities that are out of network *ouch*. read more

When you get to a certain age, you get the referral to see Dr. Colin O'Scopy. My visit to the CforE was smooth as silk. I was the first one there, and that's another recommendation. From check in, to wheel out, everyone was pleasant, professional and efficient. In at 6:30 out at 8:15, pictures in hand. I was given a choice of mild sedation or lights out. I said I'll see you on the other side, and I was gone in seconds. See y'all in seven years, and thanks again. read more

Today was my wife's fourth colonoscopy and this center get the highest marks. The office is highly efficient, friendly, well-staffed, and respectful. The staff were on top my wife's medical issues, careful yet supportive, respectful, encouraging, and provided great visual privacy which were issues before in another city. I cannot thank the staff at the Center for Endoscopy enough for such a pleasant experience. read more

How many times do you have to say that hurt, before the person sticking needs in your arms and give you a sleeping drug listens. I stop counting. He literally pressed his thumb on the needle to make my wound bleed to get blood for my sugar count. Then treated me like pizza dough making me lay on my side, which I could have done on my own. Than, he fast injected the anaesthetic into my wrist, where he placed the needle. This was my first colonoscopy. I will make mention of this to my primary care doctor. Thank goodness it will not be necessary for 10 years. Maybe by then, I would have forgotten about the pain. read more

My elderly mom was extremely nervous about getting endoscopy/colonoscopy done at Dr. Krol, but it turned out to be extremely successful procedures. The nurses were amazing, professional, caring and very gentle with my mom since they knew she had bad arthritis throughout. Dr. Krol is the best GI my entire family haha ha experience with. He makes you feel extremely at ease, explains the procedure in a very nice and relaxed manner. Everything was smooth sailing tell I woke up from the so called nice nap. You come to then they go over your results while your still out of it. Then throw your bag of clothes at you to get dressed then wheel you out to the person that picks you up so they can get ready for the next person. I am not a morning person so that kind of ruined the whole nice nap. If they gave you a little more time to be a little more coherent i would give 5 stars. I understand they have other people to cycle in and out but I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer to have a little more wake up time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Also the lady that did the IV popped a vein because she couldn't find it. Other then those issues wasn't a bad experience. read more

This place really needs to clue the drivers in better. I was told to pick my dad up around 11:15, and it's past noon now and he's still not out. If he got a late start, call the driver. If the procedure took longer than they anticipated, call the driver. I could have gone home and relieved my husband of a 23 month old and a 1 month old for a couple minutes but thought it would have been a waste of time and gas if pops had gotten out on time. I had such a great and positive experience! I was super nervous and anxious going in to have an endoscopy on 12/2020 after reading some of the reviews. However, my recent visit was the total opposite of what I had imagine it was going to be like. The nurses and staff were super comforting and answered all of my questions the anesthesiologist was also super helpful and also answered all and any of my questions (I had many concerns and was super anxious). Dr. Shim was great it was an in and out procedure and had results less then a week! Would recommend the center for endoscopy to my family and friends! Great team thank you! read more

This isn't a great choice for a date night out on the town, but if you have to get an endoscopy procedure done then this is the place to go. Let's be honest with ourselves, no one really wants to have procedures like this done, it's scary - especially if you don't know what's wrong, the numbing medicine tastes like slimy mint sauce, and the stress on loved ones is off the charts. But life happens and if you do need this sort of procedure you couldn't ask for a better staff. I have been here several times and their staff is 100% professional they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and to help you understand how the procedure works and what will occur. I don't like needles, hospitals, or anything really medical - why? Because it scares the heck out of me reminding me every second of how fragile life is and of my mortality. But I am very thankful for the doctors and staff at the Center For Endoscopy and for the care they give their patients. read more

My experience with the center was extremely positive. Nurse Vicki was incredible in tending to me and giving me information to help me feel some control. I had a small complication that resulted in more nurses than usual tending to me, and they were all so professional, courteous and caring. I try to involve as little medical intervention in my life as possible, but my upper endoscopy was needed, and I gladly recommend this center, Dr. Shim and all the professionals I encountered here. My procedure was 5 days ago and I was called by one of the nurses today with biopsy results. She took the time to answer all my questions without sounding hurried or impatient and promised to mail me information that I requested. read more

Nurse Ruby, anesthesiologist Mark and Dr Krol were awesome. Made me feel really comfortable and explained everything thoroughly. They performed upper endoscopy and I didn't feel a thing. I have mild discomfort after the procedure but that was to be expected. I would recommend Dr Krol and his team if you are in a need of a great GI. I wish I could remember the nurses name who helped me get ready for my endoscopy-- he was wonderful. He really eased my concerns band took his time to explain everything I could expect. It was refreshing to be so well informed. I was super anxious about this procedure, but it really was not bad at all! They gave me anesthesia during the endoscopy and the whole thing was done in like 20 minutes. The worst part was trying to "gargle" with the throat numbing gel. Yuck! Afterwards they are great at follow up and giving you your results. These guys really have these procedures down to a science. I would recommend this place to anyone needing an endoscopy, especially if you're nervous about it. read more

Very rude and unprofessional billing personnel. I think her name is Valerie. They misapplied my check towards another fee and they sent me two invoices a year later. When I called to verify, Valerie was very rude and kept blaming me for their shortcoming. She told me I didn't put the right address (but they did get the check!) and that I was supposed to check for my payments. Do Not go here!!! read more

I visited the Center For Endoscopy today and the overall experience was good! I had Dr Shad and he is AMAZING. I really felt that I could be completely honest with him. He's also extremely friendly, and understanding. The female anesthesiologist and one of the female nurses that took care of me were great! Very friendly as well. My only complaint is that one of the male nurses who did my IV had a kind of bad attitude and was really unpleasant at times. The place was also very clean which is great due to the COVID outbreak! Overall I'm going to give it a 5 star rating because the overall experience was comfortable, and safe! read more

This place is an absolute JOKE! Per instructions we checked in at 09:15am and my mothers appointment with Dr. Kroll was scheduled at 10:00am. The receptionist Angie is unprofessional, unfriendly, rude, and needs to learn professionalism. Angie did inform us the provider is running 30 minutes late and now it's 11:20 and finally my mom has been taken back for her procedure. In addition, there has been several people who have checked in after my mom and they were taken back before her. One lady brought her husband who also was scheduled with Dr. Kroll at 10:45 and was taken back before my mom?!? This is when I went to go speak to them about how no one was keeping us update. I'm not the only one who's had this horrible experience at this place. If your insurance covers endoscopes please please please GO somewhere else!!!!!!! Do NOT recommend! read more

The medical staff were wonderful. We did NOT have a good experience at the front desk, the lady was rude and brusque - blew us off. Also, their scheduling sucks, way behind time. As I had to have a friend pick me up and drop me off, this created problems. The doctors, nurses, etc. were professional and kind. That staff is wonderful. Kudos to them. Bring a book you could wait 2 hours or more to be seen. read more

HORRIBLE experience. I arrived 15 minutes early for appointmnet as instructed. I was called back 25 minutes later, they told my wife to pick me up in an hour. I was taken into a room and they put an IV in me and told me the anesthesiologist would be back to see me in a few minutes. 45 minutes later no one had come to see me orlet me know what was going on. My wife came to pick me up and I still hadnt seen anyone. I decided not to wait any longer. They took my IV out and never said a word about running behind or anything else. Next thing I know, I received a bill for walking out on the procedure. Apaprently I was supposed to lie there and shut up until they were good and ready. I realize delays may occur but it's inexcusable to leave me in a room and not communicate with me. I will not be going here ever again. read more
