I see Dr McCracken annually as I have had skin cancer twice- all is fine now, but I do need to regularly keep up with skin checks, especially living here in the intense Arizona sun. They are great with reminders and have an online checkin process that saves time in the office. I have been a Dermatology patient with PA Kenan Arkawi for at least five years now. He's an excellent Dermatologist PA, but I feel sorry for him since they have switched Owners from English Dermatology to now Arizona Center for dermatology and plastic surgery. I have regular bouts of squamous cell and basal cell skin cancers because of an autoimmune disease triggered post Covid. I have had at least eight MOH's surgeries in the last 24 months for my skin cancer issues. I have had these surgeries done with great results at Scottsdale. dermatology and Surgery Center by Dr. Ann Walters, she is amazing. I went in for my regular appointment a couple of weeks ago with Kenan and he did two biopsies on my neck and of course one of them came up positive. This is where I have a problem and will never return to English Dermatology/ Arizona Center for dermatology and plastic surgery again. Once I got a call with the pathology results I asked them to send them to Dr. Walters so I can get an appointment for my surgery. This has never been a problem in the past, but it is now since this office has joined forces with some mega conglomerate medical corporation. After I told them I did not want to have surgery at their office and I wanted to use my previous surgeon, Dr. Walters, I spent at least 45 minutes on the phone yesterday trying to get my pathology records, forwarded . I was transferred to several people and then they referred me to go online which I couldn't log onto to the patient portal because when I put in my information their new site says I'm not in their patient portal. Ugh! This 45 minutes of my life I'll never get back. This morning after calling several times to get this issue addressed, I was ultimately directed to an offshore 888 phone center to have my pathology records forwarded with absolutely no help at all. The lady with the Asian accent told me I needed to log onto the patient portal, I explained to them that I can't log onto the patient portal because they don't have my records in the patient portal, then she said I don't know what else to tell you . I asked to speak with a supervisor, and after sitting on hold for 10 minutes, I gave up. Then after calling back to the office, I finally found somebody named Candace that said she could help me get my records sent today. Thank you Candice in AZ! Apparently, since the new Conglomerate Mega Derm offer MOH's surgery Very at the ex-English Dermatology office they want me to have surgery done at their facility. I understand they want more business, and $$$$ but I want to go to a surgeon that I trust and has always done a good job for me. English Dermatology have always set my pathology records Promptly in the past so I could get an appointment right away. It takes a week or two to get an appointment for surgery while my skin cancers grow rapidly. I like to get them excised with a MoH's procedure as soon as possible for obvious reasons. On the phone earlier this morning with ACCDPS, they told me it would now take 14 days to get a records request sent over to the other surgery center that I want to use. I felt like a medical records hostage! This is unacceptable. I'm loyal to PA Kenan, but I cannot patronize a Dermatology office that makes it more difficult to get records sent than it is to have the actual surgery procedure. I feel sorry for Kenan and anybody else at their office since they sold out. While speaking with their office staff this morning, I can hear the frustration in their voice. If you have any urgent need for MOH's after a biopsy and Do Not want to have the procedure done at their office and need your records forwarded they make it nearly impossible. I'm sorry, but I won't be going back to English Derm, now called Center for dermatology and plastic surgery ever again. It is way too much of a hassle and they seem more concerned about keeping business in their office than actually treating patients and providing quality healthcare . read more

Went in here 1 month ago to change dermatologist. Signed papers to have my records transferred from previous office & they were to call me once they received info to set up appointment. Contacted them 3 more times during the month & still no idea what appointment to set up. Left my previous dermatologist due to one month delay advising me I had skin cancer. Dr. Sood is under investigation by the AZ Board of Medical Investigators (case #MD-24-1140A) for fraudulent billing after he stated I would not be billed for a procedure, and I was. His office, Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, refused to remove the charge without explanation. I had no choice but to file the complaint. read more

I went to see PA Reena Jain and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. She was the most unsympathetic person I have ever dealt with. I had to explain my problem with an assistant to the PA and a person they were training which was humiliating enough. Ms Jain looked at me and gave me a diagnosis in less than five minutes and told me if my tests came back negative there wasn't anything I could do. There was no explanation about why this was happening to me. It's as if my problem wasn't important enough for them . Well it's important to me! She didn't even seem to be interested in my symptoms or history. When my tests results came back I was left a message on my phone saying the results were negative and that's it. No follow up to discuss what to do next although my problem still exists. Do yourself a favor and find another dermatology office because I am definitely going elsewhere. read more

I was referred here by my insurance, and I had the worst experience. This is the first time I have been to a dermatologist (obviously I have been to many doctors over the years) but this was by FAR the worst "medical" visit/experience I have ever had. If you can call it a medical visit. When I made the appt. it was to get the list of spots/concerned looked at and a body scan (i.e. confirm that my spots were not of concern). I came in for my appt. and it would be VERY generous to say that Nadya Edwards spent 2 minutes in the room with me. I don't know if she had another appt. or was running late to something but she was 100% NOT interested in seeing me or going over my list of concerns. As I started mentioning my first concern about the rednesses in my cheeks, without her even checking them out, she says I need a prescription (not covered by insurance and I find out costs $50). Then as I was trying to get to my next concern, she sees a spot on my cheek (that my doctor and I had been watching but wasn't a current concern) and pulls out some type of freeze gun and "froze" it on the spot (no warning, she said close your eye and she just did it). I was so taken aback because she didn't tell me what she was doing, she just did. I have never had anything frozen off so I had no idea what it was. She didn't ask me if I wanted it done - nor did she mention that I would have to pay out of pocket for it (had she told me I wouldn't have done it - unless it was medically needed because my doctor wasn't concerned about it). Then she abruptly turns to exit and says come back next time for a scan. The gal helping her did tell me to stay out of the sun for the next few days. Well, that was going to be impossible because I already had plans that were outside. Again, had they told me anything about what they were doing and the aftercare I would not have done it. I leave and make my next appt. for the scan, which by the way, I can't get in for another month. I connect with the company she referred me to, order the prescription and pay out of pocket for it. Fast forward to now almost a month later. The prescription still hasn't shipped but I get ahold of someone at the company and they said that it hadn't shipped yet because they were waiting on Nadya to confirm the prescription. They let me know they had tried to contact the office multiple times, and no one had answered their requests. I also got an email to confirm my appt. So, I click on the link to confirm and SURPRISE they are requesting multiple payments from me. Not only do they want another $60 co-pay for my "second" visit (to do what I was supposed to do in the first appt.) they charged me for the "freezing" that was done. I called their billing dept. to get this corrected. Again, I wouldn't have done it had I known I was going to have to pay out of pocket and I didn't authorize it. I also don't want to pay the $60 co-pay again as the first appt. could hardly be called an appt. and didn't cover what I needed to be covered. The billing dept. said they would "submit" my response but couldn't give me any type of timeframe for when it would be looked at and/or resolved. So, I cancelled my next appt. with them until such time as it is resolved. This place reminds me of a slimy backdoor practice. The lack of care/concern and all the shady billing practices with surprise bills after is just wrong. I thought that doing that type of thing was illegal. If it's not - it should be - but at the end of the day - it's just plain shady and gross. read more

It's difficult to rate a practice with a variety of healthcare providers, since the providers can vary widely in terms of skill and knowledge. My review is based on years of experience with Dr. McCracken, two surgical procedures by Dr. Forsberg, and one surgical procedure by Dr. Petelin. Dr. McCracken is knowledgeable and skillful and has probably saved my life a couple of times, by catching early signs of skin cancer. I give him 5-stars. I was impressed by Dr. Petelin, who goes by his first name, in his knowledge, skill, and humanity. I give him 5 stars. As for my two experiences with Dr. Forsberg, he seemed to do fine with the removal of a rather larger piece of my leg. However, his closing of the surgiical removal of tissue from my nose was pretty awful. What was a hole about 7 mm in diameter and 3 mms deep, became a huge 40 mm S-shaped incision from the side of my nostril/check junction up the over to the center of my nose and then up again. I followed post-surgery instructions to the letter, but the incision has resulted in (a) a rather large gouge in the center of my nose where the tissues did not heal correctly, (b) a 12 mm in diameter raised "lump" at the tip of my nose, and (c) no feeling from the mid-point of my nose to the tip of my nose (he obviously cut through sensory nerves, since the loss of sensation goes way higher up my nose than the original surgical removal of cancerous tissue). When I went in to have the stitches removed, he mumbled something about the problem with the healing, but I couldn't quite get the gist of what he was talking about beyond his pointing out the issue. I also mentioned that the day after surgery, which was the only day of fairly intense pain, I also had what appeared to be a major histamine attack in my cheeks and eyes, which lasted about 3 days. My eyes were red and all of the tissue around my eyes and cheeks were red. I could barely open my eyes in the mornings and had to put cold compresses on them, until some of the swelling went down. It was reminiscent of my childhood, when I had severe allergies, which often resulted in swollen eye lids. Dr. Forsberg's response was something like, "I don't know about histamines. I've never heard of that." I didn't say this, but I felt like asking him if he actually paid attention in classes at med school. I give Dr. Forsberg 1/2 a star. The receptionist who scheduled my new patient appointment had me laughing out loud and believing they'd be happy to see me when I entered the office. Dr. Rogozinski put me at ease, gave a s$&* about my health, laughed at my Dad jokes and followed up with me during her free-time to check on my progress. I've been to this office three separate times and I've seen three different practitioners. First appointment: I saw PA Fiona Blunt. I came in for a cyst that was growing increasing painful. She gave me a shot and antibiotics until the angry cyst went down a little and we could form a plan on removal. I also had a weird growth that I wanted her to take a look at. Fiona had some concerns, even though I told her a biopsy was pointless and a waste of time. Second appointment a week later: the cyst was still really uncomfortable and I made an appointment with Nurse Practitioner Nadya Edwards. She wasted no time and grabbed her scalpel and drained the cyst quickly. It was extremely painful to have drained but she wasn't afraid and took charge, which is exactly what I needed. The next day I felt 100% better even though the excision was not fun and super disgusting! A few days later, I received a call from the office and guess what? That biopsy came back basal cell cancer. Craptastic! The nurse suggested Mohs Surgery. I had no idea what it was but booked the appointment and then forgot about it until the morning of. Third appointment: Dr Rosenbaum performed my surgery and she and her nurse Ruby were amazing. I will say, it was uncomfortable and you're fully awake during the whole thing. I nearly fainted when I got up after both rounds so I do recommend having a driver if you're afraid of needles or being sewn back together while you're fully awake. The smell of burning flesh was also an added ick factor. I did leave and go right to work but I regretted it all day long. Just a helpful tip, take the day off. It sucks! All in all, I felt like the office was run extremely well. I never waited more than a few minutes for my appointment, I had zero issues making any of my three appointments and all of the staff were friendly and competent. I'm having a really hard time reading all these other bad reviews when I've had nothing but great experiences each time I've gone. read more

Dr. Sood is great. I drove many hours to get here after having a bad experience with a dermatologist in lake havasu city. Dr. Sood is knowledgeable and has excellent bedside manner. I brought my baby in to have her various birthmarks checked out (including a hemangioma) and he was very validating, patient, and explained all my options. He also was really good with my baby and she was as smiling at him and very comfortable. Completely opposite experience from the ridiculous guy we had seen in Havasu. Awful experience. I'm not sure if it's the scheduling system or if there was some kind of mess up, but it took 3 months and 4 phone calls to finally get surgery scheduled. When I walked in for surgery, they didn't have any appointment on file. Then they told me I needed a consultation with the surgeon, who then told me he can't help me. The search for a good dermatologist that cares about your issues in this area of Phoenix is still ongoing- this is not it. After being seen at a different branch and being dismissed with a blanket treatment for my true concern (seems like acne is the only thing the original dr cared about) , I decided to try a different doctor to see if I could have better luck. Sadly, the only bright spot was the lovely receptionist. The absolute WORST assistant? Is what I'm assuming the short blonde was- holy moly how unprofessional, rude and dismissive! She stops me and reiterates the last diagnosis saying 'well he can look at the diagnosis again' like I'm an idiot - even though I explained exactly what happened last time. She SLAMS the door- starts talking to the doctor outside. I literally could hear her describing my concern as something that had been addressed in the past- that I*** was trying to say was a different diagnosis. With her attitude and smirk she joins Dr Arun Sood in the room- who after roughly handling my head and hair, had to agree with me and told this nasty lady it WAS, after all, what I had said. The doctor was short, rough, and did not take any time to talk me through this - he only sounded annoyed in saying he was going to have to agree. Within 5 minutes I was out the door - short blonde lady all of a sudden trying to be nicer, noticing I'm no longer engaging with her as she tries to repeat exactly what the doctor just told me about how to administer treatment. YIKES! Never again. Please someone send me your dermatologist recommendation in the area! read more

The service was excellent. Just expect, if you don't have insurance to pay through the nose - and expect a second bill later. I was in and out - a very professional but quick examination - in which several spots were quickly iced. I was charged $145 immediately - that was fine - but then got an $125 charge for icing several spots. Let's say I was in there for 10 minutes - a generous estimate - that's over $1000 an hour. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a doctors office. Scheduling an appointment was a nightmare. My normal provider (Jessica, a PA) left the practice and has not started seeing patients anywhere new yet, and my acne is flaring very badly. I assumed that any dermatologist should be able to handle something as simple as an acne flare up, so I scheduled with one of the other providers (won't mention names). Boy was I WRONG! I show up for my appt and do not recognize a single face - the staff turnover at this place is awful. The front desk staff are rude, unhelpful, and uninformed. After waiting for nearly an hour past my appt time, I finally get called back by a very grumpy and unprofessional medical assistant. Wait for the dermatologist another 15 min in the exam room. Finally get seen, prescribed a treatment regimen that I specifically told them I had used in the past with no results. Go to the pharmacy to fill everything, and IT WAS NEVER CALLED IN! After leaving probably 5 messages over the course of 2 weeks, someone finally called me back and sent the prescriptions. I've been on them for 3 weeks already and my acne has never looked worse!!! I'm so irritated with this place and their unprofessional lack of knowledge or regard for their patients. Several of my friends have had similar bad experiences here (with various different providers). My advice? Go ANYWHERE but here! read more

I had been being charged $105 to walk in the door as a outpatient visit for my Doctor in the north Scottsdale location for several years. Then this last time I had to see the P.A. instead of my doctor and got a surprise bill of $220.... just to walk in the door and be seen by her! Called to see why the discrepancy and they tell me that they have partnered with a company out of Texas since August, the month I saw her, and that is now what it cost across the board to walk into the door to see either a doctor or P.A. I told them thanks but no thanks. I know of another Dermatology center who only charges $95 to walk in the door. So long, Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. Go here if you want a butchered excisional biopsy with bad scarring. Went to Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery for a mole that had been getting increasingly itchy. The doctor ended up doing an excisional biopsy. Two weeks after my stitches were removed the wound was still painful, open and oozing white. I went back to the doctor and she said oh ya it doesn't look good you'll have to come in for lasering since it's so red. That's it she didn't come up with any solution other than wanting to have me come back in the future. Granted this doctor said that I would have a quick recovery with minimal scarring. It turned out to be quite the opposite. I came back at the 1 month point and saw a different doctor as my initial doctor was not in. My wound was the same - painful, still open and oozing white. The other doctor looked at my wound and immediately realized it was infected. I had the same symptoms on the 2nd visit that I did on the 1st yet the other doctor did nothing about it. Really disappointed with the quality of work here. I am going to have a bad life long scar that won't go away with time. It's scary to think that my wound could've gotten worse if I hadn't gone back for a 2nd opinion as the 1st Dr didn't recognize the signs of infection. read more

I am a patient and called to be seen by ANY Dr. or PA because was having a severe skin eruption that was getting worse.... red blotches that were itchy and spreading all over my face... called three times and finally got the receptionist and she said no one available and I asked to speak to office manager and she said only emergency was blood from a wound otherwise go to urgent care because there was no one in the entire practice that was available and I have an appointment for next week for a body check and she said that was the soonest I could be seen......... Called another very well established dermatology practice and relayed my problem and they told me to come in 2 hours later and was seen by one of their drs.....great experience that needed attention and medication and I will now be a loyal patient of that practice. What good is practice if you can not be treated when necessary... I never specified a specific dr and was willing to see anyone available and also asked to be put on a cancellation list...... not the way to handle patients. read more

Beautiful office, but the handling of patients is disrespectful of their time. I waited an hour and based on the number of patients before me still in the waiting room... i expected to be another 40 to 60min delay. At the 1hr mark, the office manager announced in the waiting room, that Dr. Fredrikson was delayed with a patient, and the 3 patients had not been forgotten. Three patients plus those in the back office visiting rooms is a lot of backlog to work through. I found this to be quite disrespectful of my time and other appointments that day. I asked for a refund since I had not seen Dr. Fredrikson yet, and left. I am waiting to see how long or if the refund comes through. read more

I've called 2 different times asking to have the email changed and stating that I am not the patient they are seeking. My appointment was on 3/19/2020. The experience with PA Fiona Blunt was great, she was very informative and professional. The facility (Glendale location) was nice and clean etc. I left the appointment with 2 prescriptions that were to be sent to my CVS pharmacy. AZDPSC advised prior to leaving my appt that if my insurance does not cover either of the medications to call them back and they will submit a prior authorization form, if the ins. does cover the medication but the copay is too expensive then to call back as well for an alternative. The prior authorization form was sent a day later 3/20/2020 to my insurance as they denied one of the medications, second medication had a copay that was too expensive. No big deal, and I was advised they will get back with me in a week. A week passed and I received no phone call. I called multiple times after the week time frame only to be told that they will have someone get in touch with me. I waited again and today 4/10/2020 almost a month later I called to get an update. Again, I was told someone will get in touch with me. I finally asked after all these weeks if they have an idea on when I can expect a call. The person that answered my call told me "I cannot make someone call you faster". I understand everyone has things to do and I do not expect overnight results but my appointment was almost a MONTH ago and I have no medications. I cant believe I will have a bill coming in the mail when I received no medications for my skin condition and horrible phone service. Upon referral from a trusted doctor, and for a second time, I saw Dr. Machnau this week. My first visit was a disappointment, however, I thought I'd give it another chance to see if she might just have had a bad day. This second appointment was exactly like the first. Her bedside manner was very poor, making me feel I was out of line asking one question about some unusual skin conditions and allergies I was experiencing. The first time, she refused to even hear questions before running out of the room. This was after waiting 8 weeks for my appointment. This time, an appointment for lesion removal, she again refused to entertain my specific question or even inspect a rash I currently had on my arms due to sun exposure (a condition that had persisted since that first appointment 3 months earlier). She indicated she would NOT examine it and that it was my "perception that there was even a problem and there was nothing she could do." If you are looking for a dermatologist who will listen to you, take your questions seriously, and act like a professional, I would find a different doctor....I will. read more

First visit. Filled out the paperwork online but still got there 30 min early. Sat for an hour. Watched a couple people who arrived 30 after me get taken back to an exam room before me. Once in the exam room, felt rushed. Nurse even commented about being "so busy". Once done (froze one spot and removed another), they were getting ready to leave and I had to ask about a followup and they just said yes...but no other details. Had to ask when, how do I schedule it...etc. It may have been a bad day and it did look somewhat busy but, didn't feel like a priority to them. Maybe they're more about the Plastic Surgery end of the business. I don't know. Check other options if you can and your insurance allows. read more
