It was an incredible…read moreshock to her, to me and the the rest of our family and started an ordeal we are still going thru today. The first stop after several more tests was surgery and this was performed by Dr. Jeremy Heffner of Midwest Surgical Specialists at Lima Memorial Hospital. Originally the doctors believed that my mom had two lumps one which was stage 0 (pre cancer) and one stage 1 (early cancer). The plan was to excise the cancer and then perhaps have her do radiation treatments after with a radiation oncologist. They still prepared another oncologist who is an expert on chemotherapy in case it was needed. On December 14th the operation happened... a few hours later I am told by Dr. Jeremy that the cancer was more serious and that it may have spread into her lymph nodes. He removed several of them also that looked cancerous and had them sent to be tested. You can imagine this was terrible news to receive and I will admit I got very emotional. December 27th then came for the follow up with Dr. Heffner did reveal that the cancer was indeed more serious and would need for her to go to an oncologist for chemo. We were then transferred to the care of Dr. Xiusheng Qin for chemo. They stay in contact as Dr. Qin performed more tests to see how far into her lymphatic system the cancer spread and they both decided further surgery was not needed. I am thankful for Dr. Heffner's efforts in surgically removing the cancer my mom had. Just the first phase in a long process to help my mom hopefully beat cancer.

Staff is great. But I went in for my fourth visit yesterday for acute wheezing, shortness of breath…read moreand a month of bronchitis. Not just a head cold here... I'm healthy otherwise. Dr. John Oehler asked if I was short of breath. I said it was fine as long as I was sitting down. He brusquely replied, "This work-up is going to be a lot easier if you just answer all my questions yes or no. That will be faster for you and faster for me." Shortly after that, while never looking at me and while typing with two fingers on his laptop, which he does during the entire visit before he even examines you, he muttered, "You might know all this would hit the fan right after the other guy leaves." He replaced a retiring doctor in this practice whom we've seen for years. Bedside manner is abominable. Will be looking for another doctor. Even if he is competent, it was unacceptable. If I talked that way at my job, I'd be fired. Very arrogant and also criticizes his colleagues when you are forced to go to their urgent care because he wasn't in his office when I called to try to get a third appointment after suffering for a month. Didn't deserve that...

If you're not comfortable writing your name on the publicly exposed list that sits on the counter top near the reception area, they refuse to see you. I was working 90 minutes away so called 4 times before arriving at my 1pm appointment to check on the Doctor's schedule. I agreed to the 1pm appointment because it's "the first appointment after lunch" and the staff shouldn't be behind schedule. I called because wanted to know if the appointments were running ON TIME today. 3 times the person who answered the phone said "Dermatology Physicians of Ohio, Please Hold" and clicked me into HOLD mode. They didn't ask IF I would be willing to hold. I hung up. Later, on the 4th try, after waiting out the HOLD, I was told "the doctor is running right on time". I arrive on time. I ask is the doctor running On Time? YES! At 1:07, I asked, how is the doctor doing on schedule? The reply was , "She is right on time". At 1:50pm the Nurse Practitioner apologized for running late. She hurried through a skin exam of my questionable looking moles and left the room promptly 6 minutes after she entered. Had I known the schedule was running almost one hour behind, I wouldn't have sped while driving to the appointment!!!! All they had to do was be honest with me when I called!!!! Don't visit here if you can find anyplace else to go.

He has successfuly cured a large ulcer and is treating Barrett's esophogus (which can lead to cancer), without resorting to adding multiple drugs to my list. The office staff can be abrupt, but stay knowlegable about alternate treatments, like diet and tests for possible causes like bacteria or funguses. I am not sure I like the Lima system for seeing nurse practitioners almost exclusively in the office setting. Those I have seen here are thorough, but have an abrasive personality. Dr. Solomon, however, is a model of care and respect for his patients. Perhaps the other person who reviewed Dr. Solomon would have been better served if he( had been a man and) had asked Dr. Solomon in post-op about what he heard. Even partially under anesthetics, it is hard to discrimnate voices, and colonoscopies require an anesthesetist and supporting assistants. Maybe he would have discovered real problems with his family doctor no matter whose voice he heard. If other physicians think his family doctor is incompetent, he should be sure they are not correct, so he can avoid a real problem with his health later.

I ate in the cafeteria many times. I'm vegetarian, and during the week had multiple choices, including a full salad bar, often a vegetable or cheese pizza though not always, and the option to order a grilled cheese at the grill. Note that on the weekend there are far fewer selections and I had to make do with a very limited salad bar and a waffle maker. But for a non-vegetarian, this is an excellent cafeteria, enough so that I would consider coming here for a quick lunch if you work nearby. I really liked all the slices of pie for dessert and treated myself during a difficult time.
