My experience with Dr. Lagos and his team, has been truly life-changing. Starting October 2020, I experienced constant severe pain in my mouth, over the years I saw numerous specialist, including pain management doctors, internist, oral surgeons etc. and received various diagnoses - neuropathy, TN, anxiety etc.- but still had no answers and continue to live in constant pain. After doing intensive research, thank God I found Dr. Ezequiel Lagos, from the very first day, Dr Lagos and his team, -Emma. Frida and Valeria- have treated me with warmth, exceptional care and professionalism. Hubby, a teen son and I went to see Dr Lagos after finding him during my search for a biological dentist. Very impressed with his staff, the office/treatment rooms etc and how informative his wife/office Manager was. Every step was clearly explained, both what was expected of us beforehand (ie., border crossings, payments, fasting, etc) and afterwards (ie., sleeping, recommended foods, things to avoid, etc) It didn't feel like Dr was "creating" unnecessary issues he would then recommend (like, "oh, you have 3 cavities we need to fill" (you can't even see!)) Nope...the 3 of us had no cavities. And after hubby and I had mercury amalgams removed, and hubby had root canals etc dealt with, we got 2 refunds. Just had 3 root canal teeth extracted and cavitation surgery on 4 previously removed root canal sites. I had an incredible experience. The process was thoroughly explained to me, not just the dental treatment but also travel/transportation, how to get around the hotel/medical plaza, what food to eat/avoid, how to sleep, what activities I can do or should avoid, etc. etc. Everything was explained in great detail and any questions I had were addressed promptly. All in all, I felt I was provided a very high quality service that I was happy to pay for. I had requested to make an adjustment to my treatment plan and they took care of that for me without question. I was refunded for the work that was not done. As a testament for the quality of service and care Dr. Lagos provides, I will share my experience when it came to fitting the partial dentures and adjusting the bite. Initially it was very uncomfortable and my bite was very off. Dr. Lagos checked and adjusted the bite at least 10 times to ensure I was comfortable and happy with the outcome. On some other crowns, a previous dentist was getting annoyed and rushing when I asked him to adjust the bite maybe 2-3 times. Having that previously bad experience, it was so refreshing to work with Dr. Lagos who was very patient, considerate and happy to get the job done to the best of his ability. I will be going back to get the rest of the work done including getting permanent partial dentures as well as an extraction of one more root canal. I had read all the previous reviews and while others may have had different preferences in terms of billing or overall experience, my time at the center for biological dentistry was really everything I hoped for. I had long wanted to go to a biological dentist to remove my amalgam fillings but the prices in the US are astronomical. Luckily, a good friend did a lot of research and found a highly qualified and experienced dentist in Tijuana, Mexico, Dr. Ezekiel Lagos. She and her husband were extremely pleased with the extensive work they had done and they were so happy to recommend Dr. Lagos. The treatment is 50% less expensive than in the US without sacrificing quality whatsoever. Prior to scheduling an appointment, Dr Lagos sent me a detailed treatment plan based on the X-rays I sent him and advised me to get blood tests to determine which materials would be most compatible to my individual body chemistry. The office itself is immaculate and state of the art which put me at ease. I had done a lot of research regarding the best practices of biological dentistry and the procedures that Dr. Lagos follows ticked off all the boxes. The first time I entered the treatment room I was overwhelmed with the number of staff who assist Dr. Lagos. This included an anesthesiologist administered conscious sedation and who monitored my vital signs for the entire time. In addition to the amalgam removal and crown replacement, Dr Lagos found areas on my X-rays of infection that needed to be treated. My regular dentist in Florida who took my X-rays told me she didn't see any infection! Dr. Lagos and his team were absolutely amazing! My wife and I traveled down from New England to specifically book an appointment given the previous research we conducted on the differences between a biological dentist and a basic US-based ADA dentist . Their offices were super clean, modern, and located adjacent to a hotel that is very safe. Communication prior to my appointment was excellent. Emma was able to answer every question in a timely fashion. When you book with a biological dentist they make a pledge to provide full consent to the treatment you are receiving which means you will be given a disclosure form to sign to advise you on any and all risks involved. We knew this ahead of time so wasn't concerned with being asked to sign a consent for treatment form. Over all I would HIGHLY recommend Dr Lagos and his practice. I never made it all the way in to see Dr. Lagos and for that I am grateful. I have some issues with my teeth that I have been avoiding for years because I have so much dental fear after a very bad experience. I decided to seek assistance in Mexico because it is so much cheaper than Canada. I got in contact with Dr. Lagos team and after getting the X-rays they asked for me they made me an extensive treatment plan totalling wayy more money than I have. I asked a few questions and whether this or that would be possible and I asked for an itemized quote and they told me they do not do that. Weird... I thought. They sent me a modified treatment plan reflecting some of the changes I was inquiring about rather than simply answering if the changes I was inquiring about were possible. Then I responded requesting more information and got an email saying the entire team was on vacation for the next two weeks. They did not warn me. I was right in the middle of finalizing plans with my job and booking flights, etc, but did not feel I could do so because the treatment plan the office bestowed upon me was still not feeling quite right and I had more questions. Waiting two weeks to get confirmation and to book a flight for a procedure in four weeks was not an options. I then noticed their office doesn't take credit cards, cash only. Which meant I could get less work done than I thought and would need to come back another time for the remaining work due to financial constraints. I emailed again asking to please confirm my appointment dates so I can book a flight and to remove certain items from the treatment plan. They responded to saying I could have the option of the dates we were discussing for two more days otherwise they would give them to someone else. I asked again to change the treatment plan because they had ignored that question and what I got in response was a large e-mail from dr. Lagos himself scolding me, giving me an ultimatum, telling me I'm asking too many questions and no longer have a right to change my treatment plan again and I would no longer have the option for the two dates I was planning around. He said if I don't have enough money I should find another dentist or save more money. 'My way or the highway' I take accountability for the fact that I was contacting them during vacation and perhaps that's what set him off. I wouldn't have had to do that if they had warned me they were about to go on vacation for two weeks while I'm trying to plan a huge trip. Regardless, I am appalled that a doctor would speak to a patient the way he spoke to me in this email. Especially when I told them how much anxiety I have about dentistry and how sensitive this all is for me. I have since read other reviews of him and understand he can be totally lacking in empathy and his whole team and set up seems to be focus around 'my way or the highway' and belittling patients, taking their power away. I also find it interesting that he will ONLY work on patients when they are sedated. Whereas the other doctor I was speaking to (dr. Jesus ornelas) refuses to work with patients under sedation, telling me he thought it was unnecessary and too hard on the body and patients have no say when they're sedated. (This doctor seems great. Wonderful communication and he gives the patients the power). I understand now that Dr. Lagos wants patients to have no say. I feel truly grateful he showed his true colours before I invested in him. This is exactly the kind of doctor I've been trying to avoid, since my last bad experience. In hindsight, I look back and see red flags all the way through our communication from the start. Dr Lagos and Emma are really incredible people who clearly enjoy helping people get their dental needs taken care of affordably, but also in a way where your mouth will be healthy for the years ahead with his commitment to the materials he uses for the dental work to not be toxic. I knew Emma previously so that is how I found their office. She is incredibly communicative and makes the process of getting across the border smooth, since I am from San Diego. I have been back-and-forth four times now and the process of doing it is very comfortable using the pedestrian bridge or drivers. It has felt completely safe, and their building is secure, the office is clean and the staff is quality. I have saved multiple thousands of dollars over what was proposed for me to do at my dentist in the US where that dentist refused to do a regular cleaning and was going to charge $3500 for a deep cleaning and recommended 4 crowns. Dr Lagos talked me through it and only did what was necessary and then replaced my old metal fillings with better quality material for my future. And did a deep cleaning at my request for a fraction of what it was in the States. I am now referring anyone in San Diego who I hear about with big dental expenses to at least give them a call and see if they can help. read more

Unfortunately, Emma, Dr Lago's wife or daughter (depending on the story she tells you) runs the office these days and quite frankly she should be fired because she is very unprofessional on the phone and via email. Several years I went to Dr. Lagos for the removal of mercury fillings and I found him to be very genuine, informative and transparent with his dental practices. And, I was happy with the end result. Earlier this year I tried to make an appointment but their office phone rang out and no one responded to my email requests. Eventually, Emma emailed me saying the office was closed, they were moving locations, didn't know when they were relocating and told me find another Dentist. Seriously? A few months later I noticed that they had reopened at the new location and I called for appointment but unfortunately I got Emma on the phone. She would not commit to an appointment and also wanted to send me a quote for work to be done, mind you she did not have my current x-rays nor had Dr Lagos examined my mouth in years. How ridiculous! I seriously doubt Dr Lagos has any clue of how Emma behaves towards repeat customers. Emma would be better suited working at McDonalds!!! read more

After considerable research and attention, I was able to find The Center for Biological Dentistry. Dr. Lagos is IAOMT Certified / IAOMT SMART Certified dentist and he is listed as a practitioner on the association main site. This was comforting and confirmation to know. My first contact was with Emma who is phenomenal and bright. She was clear and responsive in all our communication. Emma provided helpful details on scheduling, directions to the clinic, hotel accommodation, local food choices, etc. I sent my x-rays for review and received a detailed treatment plan and cost outline in advance of scheduling appointments for both my son and I. Emma additionally helped me contact a demonologist clinic in their same building at the NewCity Medical Plaza. So convenience, I could arrange services there without having to leave the building during the same scheduling dates. Again she was very helpful and practical to organize this. Day one at the TiJuana Mexico clinic we were greeted again by Emma who got us settled and introduced us to the team. We immediately felt comforted. Karen, Dr. Aurora, Laura, Frida, Ramon, everyone was welcoming, reassuring and kind. We were off to a great start. Karen, the friendly office administrator answered our relevant questions and efficiently processed all the administration forms. Further on we were introduced to Dr Logos. Then in a relaxing manner we began our multi day process for cavitation surgery, tooth extractions, crown replacement, safe removal of mercury amalgams, resin renewals etc. I found Dr. Lagos to be a compassionate gentleman. He proved to be highly competent and skillful in providing dental care and addressing our individual needs while applying the Higgins protocols. With Dr. Lagos oversights his staff administered pre and post maintenance to assure that there was no infection or pain following surgery using: Vitamin C IV, Lymphatic massage, PRF, Acupressure and BioMagnets. All these procedures helped accelerate the healing. Our decision to seek the holistic Biological Dental care option was worth the time and travel, as we experienced zero pain, nor discomfort, nor swelling and we healed well. We did the Biological Material Compatibility testing before coming to the clinic. Dr. Lagos assured us that he uses the appropriate materials only in our personalized treatment. We decided on a non-invasive replacement for my upper molars and opted for temporary removable partials, in addition to all the other work. Our experience at The Center for Biological Dentistry was excellent. This was also an opportunity to introduce my son to the value of Biological Dentistry. When I contemplated going out of the country for my dental work I was concerned about the following items: Finding a qualified biological dentist who could provide a good procedure in a safe and clean environment that I could afford. I was also concerned about the ease of travel logistics since I was traveling alone. I was so glad when I found Dr. Lagos at the Center for Biological Dentistry because the clinic checked all my boxes and more. Dr. Lagos is certified in SMART through IAOMT.org for amalgam removal (I had several to be done). He was also well versed in cavitation repair (again, I had several to be done) being sure to use PRF, Ozone, and Vitamin C IV's for healing. He could also read a cone beam scan that I sent to him, which was taken by a local dentist. With their assessment and the scan received he was able to provide an estimate and Emma worked with me on the logistics of scheduling and travel. They knew I wanted all the work done in one visit and they accommodated. If you're concerned about the procedure or finances ask lots of questions now - they are HAPPY to explain everything so there aren't any surprises when you arrive. The standard documents they provide with the estimate have a wealth of information in them - definitely read them. Their dental office is in the New City Medical Plaza in Tijuana, which is right next to (connected to) the Quartz Hotel and Spa. There is a food court and a couple of restaurants in the complex, along with a 7-11 for water, etc. I used their recommendations for Alex Transport to shuttle me from the San Diego airport and I stayed in the Quartz Hotel (I HIGHLY recommend this). They even had medical beds for elevated sleeping after my cavitation surgery. I had 4 days of sedated dentistry with a 5th day follow-up appointment. During that time I had 7 amalgams removed, 4 cavitation surgeries, and 2 root canal extractions. Dr. Lagos provided biomagnets to help with pain and I was astonished at how much they helped. In fact, I've since purchased more. I only needed a little bit of Advil a couple of times and no narcotics during recovery. Emma and Dr. Lagos, and the whole staff were warm and welcoming and I felt like I was the only patient they had. I've never felt so pampered by a dentist before. Emma even walked me to/from the hotel on the first day to make sure I wasn't confused about the directions to their office. They were also communicative after the procedures when I had follow-up questions. If you're looking for a qualified dentist in a clean and safe environment then I HIGHLY recommend them. They provide such great information and make the entire process easy. I'll be heading back in a few months to get some permanent partials and I can't wait to see them all. ps. The border crossing line can be very long. I would suggest getting a cross border xpress pass (crossborderxpress.com). BEWARE -- Dr. Lagos will only do work on you if you are completely sedated!! No Novocain shots or local anesthetics to get a simple crown.. If you have a complex dental history, he will refuse to work on you and will blame it on your medical history and his anesthetic team not wanting to sedate you. He will not even let you know the work he thinks you need in your free complimentary evaluation that will take one-week to receive after you send him your x-rays and dental history.. He will only give you a cold-hearted refusal to work on you and blame it on not wanting to sedate you. I asked him what work he thinks I need where I need to be sedated, and there was no reply. His office manger Emma texted me that Dr. Lagos only does work on completely sedated patients and due to my medical history, they do not want to sedate me. It didn't matter if I think I only needed two crowns. They would not tell me the work they think I need.. just a cold-hearted refusal to work on me because they don't feel comfortable sedating me. I re-read some of the negative reviews after my negative experience yesterday and see other people had a bad experience in regards to this doctor only working on you if you are sedated. I have to agree that these negative experiences have to be real as I had a similar experience. Thank You Emma for being completely rude towards me in a free complimentary evaluation where I did not have to give you a deposit via a non-refundable cash money order like others have experienced. Dr. Lagos is the most amazing compassionate gift from GOD. I scheduled my appointment very seamlessly through email and speaking with the famous Emma whom I absolutely LOVE. Everything from scheduling with Dr. Lagos, to getting the room at Dalí Suites, to getting the car ride to Tijuana was completely flawless which I was shocked with. I took a flight from Portland Oregon to San Diego California where I was picked up to go across the border to Dalí suites where I was going to stay. Never once did I EVER feel unsafe and I did this all on my own; no one came with me. It was a short 40 minute ride to Tijuana where we arrived at Dali suites. I was able to get in through the gate and to my room that was quiet, big, clean, nice and well kept. The outside was so peaceful with a whole garden that you can enjoy while you're there healing, which helps a lot. Monday morning I walked to Dr Lagos office to meet his phenomenal team that was there to do all the work I needed, which was 4 days' worth since I had so many amalgam fillings and 2 root canals coming out. 1st day I met everyone, had X-Rays and immediately fell in love with them all, they are unlike ANY U.S. doctors I've ever met. The office was very nice and clean. Everyday Aurora took me home after Dr. Lagos was done and she literally took my heart even more during our drive home and food trips. She is so funny, sweet, patient centered and full of life. ALL the food & coffee was amazing that she took me to get before she took me home to Dalí Suites. 2nd - 4th day was the same thing. Got to clinic massage and put to sleep for my procedure and never once was in pain during or after my appointments with Dr. Lagos. I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe or any other bad feeling while traveling, walking to the clinic to get food to Wal-Mart or in the clinic. Dr Lagos is a gift from GOD. He truly cares like no doctor I have ever met. He wants you to be the healthiest you can be which plays into my lifestyle completely. The clinic checks on you to make sure everything you need is taken care of or they take care of it, unlike ANY U.S. doctor. This has created a trust so deep I will come down and schedule every dentist appointment with him EVERY YEAR due to the treatment I got here. 1 1/2 months after my week-long relationship with him I'm feeling alive again, my psoriatic arthritis pain is completely gone, along with many other autoimmune symptoms I've had the past 20 plus years. I'm no longer on Thyroid meds nor the psoriatic arthritis meds either. Dr Lagos has given me a FULL complete life to live again and I can't thank him enough. MY LIFE IS COMPLETELY RUINED because of Dr. Lagos. He allowed his assistant (Alexandra Gonzalez) to perform my wisdom tooth extraction, and she accidentally cut the nerve that goes to my tongue (lingual nerve). She completely severed it. I went all the way to Mexico to see Dr Lagos, NOT his assistant or whoever she was. I am left with extreme, constant nerve pain. The entire left side of my tongue is completely numb except for a constant burning sensation. I will also never be able to taste on that side of my tongue again. I had no idea how bad nerve pain was, but it's not like regular pain. I feel it constantly, from the moment I wake up until I go to bed at night. The only way to escape the pain is to sleep. I actually came close to killing myself because the constant pain ins so unbearable. Dr. Lagos and his office staff were very rude and unprofessional when I confronted them with this. They told me the numbness and burning pain would go away in a week and that it was normal because sometimes they "nick" the nerve. It has been TWO YEARS and I am still in constant pain. It's a living hell and unfortunately it's permanent. They told me I'm making the whole thing up. But I actually found a surgeon who corrects lingual nerve injuries who performed the surgery on me and confirmed that the lingual nerve was indeed severed. My partner, her son (16), and I had five days of dental work performed by Dr. Lagos and his team. My second review, as I just completed all needed work with Dr. Lagos. My opinion and experience remains unchanged from my previous review. Dr. Lagos and his staff were thorough and wonderful. Last trip, we stayed in Tijuana. This trip we stayed in San Diego instead to make it more of a vacation. I highly recommend driving to the border and parking at San Ysidro Border Station Parking Lot (457 Camino De La Plaza, San Ysidro, CA 92173), it is at the last U.S. exit from I-5 and I-805. The cost is $9/ day. From there cross the street and walk into Mexico. Once you exit the walkway (10 minute walk), use Uber for a $5 ride to the office. It was completely safe, convenient and the time getting across the border was significantly less than if in a car. read more

I am so disappointed in my entire experience with this dentist. Communication is painful and included a week (while we were making plans to visit him) where the dentist went on a last minute week long trip with his assistant, but didn't give his office staff a heads up. My husband and I had our mercury fillings replaced and I had a root canal pulled in Dec 2018. I ended up with extremely painful dry socket and a cracked tooth confirmed by my regular dentist (which wasn't there before), and my husband has a couple very sensitive teeth since seeing Dr Lagos. To make matters worse, Dr Lagos refuses to fill out any forms and won't give a receipt. His staff says he Nevers fills out any paperwork. Well I sure wish I would have know that after we paid him in full and needed him to fill out our simple insurance form so we could get reimbursed by our insurance plan. Do NOT book this dentist. Dr. Lagos is amazing. I went to see him over a year ago for some extractions and to handle an amalgam leak in my gums that another dentist created. His program makes a very scary thing easy and painless. Not only is he a very skilled dentist, but he follows Dr. Huggins' protocol exactly. I did a blood test first to make sure that whatever dental materials he was going to use on me are compatible with my body and that my immune system wasn't going to reject it or react badly to it. Then the visit started with a lymphatic massage to help my body flush out the drugs more rapidly and for my body to be able to cope the pain better. During the conscious sedation, he respected my religious beliefs and spoke only the necessary minimum to communicate what he needed from his assistants. The anesthesiologist was competent and refrained from using drugs that I did not agree with (we had discussed it before the procedure). I had a vitamin drip, again, to help my body cope with the drugs and the procedure. The procedure lasted several hours and after the procedure, the massage therapist came back for a post surgical lymphatic massage, again to help my body flush out the drugs. Dr. Lagos referred me to a local hotel which was within walking distance from his practice. The place was clean, quiet and safe. Then this year, I brought my daughter to Dr. Lagos. She had several cavities to fill. Dr. Lagos recommended she get it done under conscious sedation. We discussed it and my daughter and I decided for her to get it done only with local anesthetic so that she would avoid having the drugs. Dr. Lagos did not make an issue out of it and respected our choice. He made it very bearable for my daughter. She was scared as it was the first time she had fillings done. Dr. Lagos allowed me to stay with her the entire time and I could be there to hold her hand and massage her feet to help her relax the whole time. He did a spectacular job with her fillings and used biocompatible materials so that she would not get problems with her immune system in the future (we had the biocompatibility test done prior to the visit). Dr. Lagos was very kind and gentle with my daughter and made her feel at ease. He answered all her questions and stopped and listened when she had something to say. I am so relieved that she will not have the same traumatic experiences that I had as a kid with dentists. She left Dr. Lagos' office as non-traumatized as a kid can be after a dental procedure. I have more dental work to get done and I will definitely never have anybody else than Dr. Lagos touch my mouth for dental work in the future. I recommend Dr. Lagos without reservations. Not only is he competent, but he follows Dr. Huggins' protocol. He is considerably cheaper than dentists in the US. He is used to work with patients from different countries. He is kind and compassionate, gentle and respectful. You know how most dentists have this "I know better than you do" attitude and make you feel bad if you don't agree? It is noticeably absent in Dr. Lagos' manners and approach. Dr. Lagos is SO easy to talk to. He truly listens and respects your choices and makes the best recommendations for the best outcome. The staff at his office are responsive and answer all questions. To all my friends: do yourself a favor, spare yourself some pain and future troubles consequent to dental work and go see Dr. Lagos. It's worth the trouble to go to Mexico. Oh and by the way, it's only about 15 minutes drive from the border. Easy to find and also super close to the beach. Also, I see that there were 2 people who had bad experiences with this office due to a Dr. Alexandra Gonzalez... I don't think that she is with him anymore. I have not seen any other doctors than Dr. Lagos on both occasions I have visited his office and no hint that there was another doctor there. Only the wonderful Dr. Lagos. So please ignore the bad reviews. That other doctor is not there. read more

Dr. Lagos is unprofessional and greedy.Between him and his wife the financial administrator it is nothing short of a horrific experienc. It was a negative experience by all means. If he were the only dentist, I would not choose to be treated by him. Emma, his wife, overcharges and under delivers. And they make you pay for the services you haven't receive. They bully you and do not have any decency. It is cheaper, safer and more respectful to be treated in the USA or Canada. Get ready to be overly charged, no follow up call from his secretary wife, she never kept her promises . She's uncommunicative and cares only about charging. I can only say I was painless after his work besides being over charged I'm still wondering if he's registered as a huggins protocol dentist. I definitely wouldn't go back because I didn't feel that warmthness from the staff .. did not like her vibes. I would higly recommend Dr. Lagos and his team to anyone interested in their overall health. The mouth is the most overlooked place in the body by the traditional medicine, and could be the source for many health problems. I have waisted many years and thousands of dollars on traditional dentists before I found Dr. Lagos. Honestly, I could write pages of reasons why Dr. Lagos is the very best biologic dentist. I have had many visits and extensive work done, to remove root canals, mercury fillings, dental implants, as well as cavitation surgery. Visiting his office is like going to a health spa. Dr. Lagos and his professional staff provide exceptional holistic treatment. You will feel relaxed and comfortable during your procedure. Post surgery recovery is without pain or inflammation because Dr. Lagos uses the most advanced protocol to promote and support healing. I am very pleased with the end result. The benefits to my overall health are remarkable. I live in a large metropolitan area (Orange County, CA) and could not find a single "holistic" dentist there who follows Huggins protocol (and they all promote placing dental implants). Dr. Lagos does not perform any treatment that would cause harm. He does not use any dental materials that are toxic or allergenic. Lastly, the referrals for lodging and help with transportation make the trip effortless. The staff are all wonderful as well! UPDATE: I recently had an additional dental treatment with Dr. Lagos. My experience was very favorable. Visiting this dental clinic is as pleasant as going to a health spa. The holistic approach that Dr. Lagos and his professional team provide is exceptional. Upon arrival I was asked to sign papers that say while I'm under sedation the dentist might have to to a procedure that I did not agree to. I told the receptionist I was not OK with that and she told me that I wouldn't be able to get treatment if I didn't sign. Not only did these papers worry me but her response to me not wanting to sign was a huge red flag so I trusted my gut and left. At this point I had already paid a $500 deposit to hold my appointment. I emailed them afterwards and asked them if they would refund it, even a portion and they refused. Luckily I was able to quickly find another holistic dentist in the area with a better reputation. I wish I would've looked at Yelp before booking with Dr. Lagos! I'm not even worried about losing the $500 but please keep in this in mind when booking your appointment! This dentist & all out of country dentists, are no longer referred by Huggins Alliance in Colorado, due to the negative experience of those that received service from Dr. Lagos' office. His office requests $250.00/day prepaid deposit and then Dr. Lagos does not show up on the day of my appointment and also the day of my follow-up. His office was contacted two months prior to scheduled appointment and Dr. Lagos was not in for a whole month with his staff not initially knowing when he would return, due to a fabricated story of a family emergency. After flying six hours for my scheduled appointment, Dr. Lagos had another fabricated story of his car breaking down and left me waiting four hours in his office with his office assistant Adam not even mentioning to Dr. Alexandra Gonzalez that I was waiting. When she heard my phone in the waiting area she took my X-rays from me and told me it would be 2 days of dentistry. I told her it was only suppose to be a 30 minute follow-up for the 2nd day. Adam lied about this and I had to show her my email from him. She did very poor dental work, with rough resin composites or fillings and one temporary crown fell out. The initial estimate was $5150.00 USD, including; 1680.00 intravenous sedation, 200.00 Vitamin C intravenous sedation, 30.00 oxygen, 1950.00 3 crowns, 750.00 5 resin composites, 90.00 acupressure and 450.00 removal resins. I was not charged for removal resins after repeatedly insisting I had no mercury resins to remove. After writing a long email to Dr. Lagos that I would not return for permanent crowns and would go to another dentist, he agreed to refund the cost for the crowns. After my appointment with Dr. Gonzalez, I also spent the night vomiting and could not eat for 24 hours. I had sensitivity in my teeth for months and Dr. Alexandra Gonzalez would not return my phone calls or give any information to another Tijuana dentist, she also works for, due to patient confidentiality. read more

I saw Dr. Lagos in 2010 for extensive dental work. I had ME/CFIDS and needed to both check under seven existing crowns for mercury amalgam as well as remove a chronically infected dental implant that no one in the States seemed to want to touch. I did extensive research on various blogs, including direct contact with a number of folks who were satisfied patients of Dr. Lagos, and made my decision that he was my man. His office is bilingual, and they quickly quoted me a price for the work and laid out the treatment plan, which would take three trips. Lagos provided me with contact information for the company he sources the type of crown I choose, which was located in the States and who I spoke to directly to ensure that I was getting a quality product. On my first trip, Lagos removed the infected dental implant (which was originally a chronically infected root canal) and did a wonderful job. There was no pain, I healed quickly and easily, which was surprising given my immune compromised state at the time - I can't stress enough what a good job he did. One that first trip, which I paid for with a cashier's check, I did not bring my wallet as the friend in San Diego I was staying with talked me out of it, and Lagos actually refunded me some of my payment so I could pay the shuttle service. He's a nice man. The next two trips were uneventful (we drove in). Lagos removed all seven crowns and took impressions. Third trip saw placement of the crowns. I was really pleased with his work and would easily see him again. At the time, he was the only dentist in his office, his staff was incredibly nice, and the anesthesiologists (including the wonderful Dr. Nieto) came out from the main hospital downtown. His office was impeccable, and close enough to the beach and shops that my boyfriend was able to occupy himself during the last two trips. I can't say anything bad about Lagos (barring the fact that the office operates on Mexican time, which is a Mexican thing) and I'm so sorry to hear that things have gone downhill from 2010. I'd heard a rumor that he'd had some significant health problems but that he had returned full time to work, and all of us who've been happy with his work are hoping his practice returns to the stellar dentistry he once practiced. read more
