The service was a bit relaxed. We walked in and were not greeted. We headed toward the back and were told to sit wherever. A server came to take our beverage order and hookah order. The hookah was also reasonably priced!! $40

1 star for decent bartenders and a frozen lemonade drink that was super tasty (but unfortunately…read morenamed Lynchburg Lemonade). That said, I ordered tacos and a salad and all of it was awful. The salad, which came out first, seemed like bagged lettuce poured onto a plate, which made me nervous with the explosive diarrhea going around. The tacos came out with chips and dip I subbed for a salad, so I completely ignored those. The tacos themselves were too full of stuff to eat comfortably, everything was falling out the back...which wouldn't have been a problem if the tacos meat tasted like anything. It was so bland, completely unseasoned and the buffalo sauce I'd asked for on the side did absolutely nothing to improve the taste of the taco. The food was a disaster and I'm mad I paid for it. But the lemonade was good, at least there was that.

A lively dive bar with almost nightly live-music…read more I used to frequent Morsberger's in the old days. Now it's a brighter livelier place, still showing off it's divey decor. You can enter on Main Street, or from the back patio. For the full dive-effect, I like to come directly from the old iron staircase in the back, halfway up to the patio, past the original tiny old restrooms and the ice machine. (There's nicer restrooms on the performance / pool-table side.) I looked in on the pool-table side where bands play regularly. There's seating there for around 30, mostly used when bands are playing or by pool-players or when the bar side is full. There's some benches out on the patio for warmer weather and for smoking. The walls are covered with old rock memorabilia, and i love the bar side where there are old albums on the ceiling too! Plus a collection of old stuff over the years that defies description. The bar seats maybe 15. I always sit on the bar side, where it's usually dimly lit. You can get basic mixed drinks and some premium spirits, and plenty of varieties of beers, some craft, some old regulars. They have a small kitchen, too. I usually just get a cold Natty Boh and watch some sports on their several tvs, or talk to anyone I know, or anyone who happens to be nearby. This time i got there on a Thursday after 5 and it was pretty quiet, between the regulars who finish around 4pm and the music-lovers who come after 6 or 7. This time I was one-and-done. I've been here for some rock, and mostly for a more Catonsvillian variety of punk and metal, sometimes every night!, though usually not Mondays. Sometimes there's a cover. It's usually good bands, with a lively crowd, some from the nearby college. There's a small number of parking spaces straight out back, only on their side of the alleys, and leaving the spaces behind the deck for the apartments to the east. The out-front street parking is pay at-the-meter or by-app during Mon-Sat 8-6, and otherwise free.

I have been going to GL Shack off and on since the early 2000's. The quality changed during covid,…read moreso I started only focusing on shrimp, wings, burger, and their salads. Over the last few years their side salad went from having bacon and eggs to just lettuce , a couple carrots shavings, two sliced tomatoes and maybe two or three cucumbers. Saturday I was craving a steak and traffic was so backed up going to the restaurant I was originally going to, that I instead decided to just go somewhere close to my house. Upon sitting down I was told they has a berry mojito special so I ordered. It was not good so I only had two sips. Next I ordered the sirloin dinner that was on special. As soon as the sliced steal was placed in front of me I knew it would not be goid. It looked unappealing. Sort of like boiled meat instead of a grilled steak. I took a bite. It was so bad I asked for steak sauce. It was still horrible. I only ate two of the pre-cut slices and told the waitress it was by far the WORST steak I ever had and said I would have wings instead. The wings were good as always. This horrible meal ended up costing me $56 for the uneaten steak dinner, horrible mojito I did not drink, and the wings. The bartender was nice. I use to bartend and if I noticed a customer not drinking a drink I made, i would have asked if they wanted anything else, or I would have remade the drink. The bartenders were nice so I left an $8 tip . This ended up being the most expensive buffalo wings I ever had. I was exhausted after having a long work week and not having eaten breakfast or lunch so I just paid and left without complaining.

We pulled in at 9:20 PM with the kitchen closing orders at 9:30 PM and the doors shutting at 10:00 PM. Not only did they welcome us, but the service was also top-tier from start to finish. While they were out of the sausage roll and the spice bag (hoping to catch them post-Oktoberfest!), what we got was outstanding: Buffalo Chicken Wings: Truly some of the best wings we've had in a long time. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Shrimp Salad Sandwich: Every single bite had generous, real shrimp. The bread stole the show, crisp exterior, soft inside, reminding me of an old-school New York deli roll. The Fries: Uniquely shaped, crispy on the outside, and soft and pillowy on the inside. Plus, their homemade ketchup is legit. Brown Bread: Thick, hearty, and oaty. Slather on that butter and it's the ultimate comfort side (and perfect for soaking up a brew). Guinness Lime Beer-jito inventive, refreshing beer cocktail that went down way too easy. Special shoutout to our bartender, Benny, who took the time to chat with us, share menu insights, and make us feel completely unhurried despite the late hour. We will definitely be back again and again.

I paid $63 for an hour experience and received a 19…read moreminute conversation in a out house/shed, 4 pretzel bites, 8 slices of fried pickles and a beer in a Stein glass. We were told based on the description of the event that it was a secret society event and you have a highly confidential phrase that you say to the host at the tent to get access to this exclusive and elite event. Well the write up was the peak of this experience as the true experience lacked severely. When we approached the hostess stand and said the phrase the scattered older lady looked frazzled and confused. When we stated we were their for a Stein Society Event she asked for our names (defeats the purpose of utilizing the phrase) and pointed to a green shed in the corner. The shed had a small bar and two round tables with two wooden chairs each. The host for the experience stated that he had lived in Germany for a short period following school and discussed the history of Guinness but it was limited as I mentioned earlier we began at 4 and by 4:20 we were walking out with half of our beer left. I should have just paid the $20 for the Stein glass and saved me money for pours. This was a birthday gift to my husband who is British from Bristol England and has been to Octoberfest several times. This dropped the ball as he found himself filling in the history during the experience. From how bad the experience was I feel obligated to do a birthday re-do for him. Moving onto the food and offerings under the tent. Gluten free people stay far away as their was not much for me to choose from in terms of food under the tent. Also if you are a non drink beer drinker like myself the cocktails will also not cut it. I am used to going to breweries and having some type of enjoyment from the cocktails infused with beer but at this place I had two drinks and suffered through the first, then tried another and ended up leaving it. It was also served without ice and everyone knows that anything with liquor even with beer should be served with ice. The place looks fun for those with somewhat laxed expectations and beer lovers but for those seeking an experience I would suggest driving to Lark Brewery, Running hare, or another surrounding brewery. The Secret Stein Society event was a disappointment; I am so glad I had his party the night before and did not invite all of his friends to join us like I originally thought to do.
