We interviewed a number of chefs and Meal Mate was by far the best. Most creative ideas, most responsive, and best enthusiasm for the project! We signed with them months ahead of the date, and as it drew closer, I started getting reminders from Chef Jamie. Some questions, more ideas. On event day, Chef Jamie and Chef Nathan showed up exactly on time and started getting to work. First, the table was set beautifully with linen napkins and personalized menus/place cards. As guests arrived, we were all treated with a specialty cocktail and delightful appetizers. And then dinner. Wow!! Maybe the best ribeye steak ever. Wonderfully seasoned and incredibly tender. The sides were all great but that steak - oh, my lord. Dessert was a matcha tiramisu and it was the perfect finish! Throughout the night, the service was so smooth and then, before we knew it, the kitchen was cleaner than when they arrived and they were off. She apologized for not confirming and I told her it was fine and just to let us know if she was on her way. She then responded with "I'm not able to come. Im so sorry". AT 7:15PM. In tears, I apologized profusely to my guests and had to figure out an emergency plan B to salvage this milestone occasion and also get food on the table. But every time, Rena worked through our list in a timely way and responded to every single one of our questions with answers that were direct, and helpful. She was not just ready with answers to every question, but happy to provide additional suggestions and information from her experience, and proactive about raising and resolving issues in the plans we suggested we had not considered yet. B. Lin was one of our favorite vendors we worked with--and one of the most essential when it came to actually making the event we dreamed about a reality. From reviewing rental tablecloths and dishware, to suggesting tweaks to our floorplan and timeline, to setting everything out on the big day--and more. They also were crucial to the final clean up, and helping us ensure we got our venue security deposit back! The venue manager actually told us the place " was left in exceptional condition." OH and did I mention we were able to plan with them so effectively we flipped the room ahead of schedule? All night the B. Lin team was like clockwork. (but clockwork that knew how to adjust to the other ups and downs of the day around them!) And that's just about how helpful, detailed, and responsive they were to work with.
