Used Ceiba as our outfitter for a 21 day river rafting trip down the Grand. They were wonderful and extremely well priced. The meals were good if not great at times. They accommodate our gluten free and vegetarian needs excellently. The equipment was well organized and reliable. They are helpful in providing transport to and from the put in and you can leave your car for a $3 a day fee - which is much safer then leaving it at a put in spot. I had done several river trips before but this was my first time as trip leader. We decided to go with Ceiba's Whole Shabang package for a 23-day winter trip and it was the best decision I made. The recipes were easy to follow and everyone loved the food. The packing was excellent, everything was easy to find and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and the variety of meals. It can get pretty boring eating deli sandwiches every day and they did a great job mixing up the lunches. I toyed with the idea of doing food on my own, but Ceiba did such a good job, I think I will continue to use their food pack on future trips. All the equipment we rented was in really good shape. We decided to rent their wood stove because it was a winter trip and that thing was awesome. We brought a 12x12 canvas tent to put the stove in and it was a game changer. The best part about ceiba is their staff, they were incredibly helpful and responsive, they really made it easy for us. We rigged on Christmas Day and the staff was not rushing us at all, they stayed late and really went through everything and showed us how to use all the equipment. They were also happy to match quotes from other companies and gave us a great deal. read more

This place is the greatest!! They set us up for a week long motorized rafting trip through the Grand Canyon from Lee's Ferry to Diamond Creek on the Colorado River. The staff at Ceiba took care of everything for us and set us up with an excellent Boatman, Don, and Swamper, Bobby! They were the best. They showed us some great side canyon hikes, provided some great historical knowledge of the ancient inhabitants of the Canyon and the early American explorers that visited the Canyon! They took care of cooking our meals every day. If you are going down the Grand Canyon on any type of rafting trip, you will not go wrong working with Ceiba Adventures. read more

When it comes to putting together a great Grand Canyon float, I couldn't have done any better than Ceiba. Their gear is top notch - carbon shafts, NRS boats, Canyon coolers and the food was excellent. The staff is accessible, friendly and knowledgeable. Whether we were at the warehouse, at put-in and rigging or at take-out and de-rigging, it was smooth and easy. When it came to the menu I choose "Ready Made" and was extremely happy about the product. The food quality was excellent (enchilladas, meatballs, chile-rellenos, lasagne, pulled pork, broccoli beef... all Yum!). Really, would you rather eat delicious food after cock-tailing and laughing with friends while lounging on the boats and watching the river flow or after sweating and chopping and cleaning in a kitchen? I'll go ready-made even on local (non-Ceiba) trips - can't talk-up this option enough. Ceiba is top-notch! read more

I have to say that personal and hometown service is the reason I chose to work with Ceiba. For me a river kitchen is home. I grew up river running since I was a kid. Now after over 100 Grand Canyon trips being team support and feeding people. for year round science and commercial river support, cooking, swamping, rowing, motoring, and remote camping. I was told by a well seasoned boatman, that the camp kitchen is the heart of a trip and is essential to how a trip comes together. It's the place where strangers become family for a time. Ceiba understood what I needed to do my jobs in the middle of the wilderness. Ceiba worked with us knowing the importance of coolers for holding ice ; flexible packing ; we did our own food pack but they have great menu options for those who need help; I personally like having my own porto potty set up and water jugs. LOVE those camp partner stoves and Master Blaster is essential for coffee and dishwater. I personally like bringing extra ammo cans for compost and then donate the compost to a community garden. I recommend Rice sacks and compactor bags for recycling. Being proactive in recycling does make a HUGE difference in your camp footprint. I would have preferred a more beefier First-aid kit. The crew was helpful to go over gear and we could add and deselect as we figured out our final packing. All in all Ceiba has the years of experience and understands what can happen downstream. It's best to have more than what you need before you set off. Like reading the rapids, it's good to start early and finish later and consider Ceiba for your next excellent adventure! read more

We had a great experience renting from Ceiba! We rented a couple pabble boards for our recent trip to the lake. Had a blast with them! These folks at Ceiba went above and beyond to make arrangements for us when we had unexpected issues on our way back home. They meet us at the yard on a late Sunday night to collect the gear. Seven of my friends and I just returned from a 20 day trip down the colorado river. We rented all of our boats and camp equipment from Ceiba and had them pack our food. As a former multi day river guide I was nervous to have someone else pack equipment for such an extended trip. After getting to the put in and seeing the equipment I new everything would be alright. All of the equipment was in great condition and nothing was missing. Ceiba was prompt to pick us up for our shuttles to and from the river and they were accommodating to last minute details and changes. The food and the packaging was great. We we're surprised to see Johndog driving the van but he turned out to be a great driver. And Odin made sure are raft was ready to go. And they had all the gear required by the park service for a motorboat. You have to take enough gear to make it through the apocalypses... the Snake and Salmon and every other river require less...The 22 foot raft with 30 horsepower Honda worked great. Especially when you add in the "spare" 30 horsepower engine. Make sure you bring enough fuel for the "spare" engine because you'll be going through it when you push 60 horsepower up river! read more

Worst outfitter experience ever!!!! I used Cieba to outfit a winter grand canyon trip and could not have been more displeased. First: The customer service representative knew very little about grand canyon trips. Many of the simple questions I had put to her were left unanswered or answered incorrectly. Second: I had them pack the food and they did a terrible job. No flexibility or creativity. Even after paying the extra $ for a custom menu. I was on a 2 boat, 28 day trip with 6 people. With this sort of trip you cannot do the standard huge meal spread like you can on a trip with more carrying capacity. Cieba would not change a single thing with their menu (only re-arrange the order). Same issues with the kitchen set up and they packed things that I specifically asked them not to. The result was that I had to re-pack the all of the dry goods on the dock at lee's ferry. Third: When I asked the shuttle driver for assistance repacking the dry goods he left and took a "nature walk" instead. When he returned I asked him for another 20mm ammo can and he said he would go get one from their nearby gear locker... He never returned. He simply left and did not say anything. I had angrily thrown pringles into the back of their truck and now the company say's I threw the pringles at the back of his head and that's why he left, hahahahah. Not even close to the truth. Reed, the shuttle driver could not have cared less about our trip or the company he works for. Fourth: When rigging he forced me to put to floor valve in the stern of the boat even though I would have rather have it up front due to and overloaded boat making it impossible to get to the valve without de-rigging. Placing it in the rear is standard and that's fine until the floor starts leaking the first day and you have to spend your entire first layover day re-rigging your boat, which is what happened. When I approached cieba about the faulty floor they blamed me for it even though it leaked from day 1. Why he might care as to how I rig my boat I do not know. Why the company could not own up to the fact that they sent me out with faulty gear has also not been explained to me. Fifth: At take out the guys who picked us up were very rude. They started helping with the gear but stopped when they saw we were going to keep the extra food. At that point they just sat back and watched us work. It was obvious that they wanted to keep it for themselves at the end of the trip. It's wasn't just moldy bread, It was a huge pile of canned goods, oils and other useable goods. We had decided to give it to a local homeless shelter and one of the Cieba employees made a racial slur about how the native americans didn't deserve it (his words were much worse than I would dare to post here). Cieba packed WAY too much food. This might be a standard for the industry but it's super wasteful and harmful to the environment for every trip to throw away that much food, and extremely inconvenient on such a small trip where we had little/no extra room. ...There is more but I think you got the idea. I have spent many years as a river guide and have put together many trips on the Grand and countless other rivers. I am not overstating. Cieba is a bad company to trust with your canyon trip. Do yourselves a Huge favor and use a different outfitter. I know I will. read more

I went down the Grand July of 2018. We utilized Ceiba for everything...the Whole Shabang. I was in charge of organizing all of the logistics so it was paramount that I had people who understood how much flexibility is needed due to the ever changing roster and equipment needs. Every single phone call was greeted very friendly and professionally. They modified things up to the last day without ever making you feel like you are putting them out. They also do a great job of incorporating a hybrid trip (some rented and private boats.) To top it off, one of their guys (Geoff) was on a working crew studying chubs down the Grand and he stopped to say high and make sure we had what we needed. This organization is top notch and I will always use them. The extra amount in cost makes up for a lot of logistic stress and wear on equipment. If I were to it again I would most definitely go for their electric water pump option. Thanks Ceiba! read more
