An experience with extremely poor customer service and an unexpected souvenir…read more We've always loved visiting the Peabody and the gift shop seemed like the perfect place to browse for a little keepsake while we waited for the famous ducks to arrive. Little did we know, we'd be leaving with a very special (and very broken) souvenir--a ceramic duck, which we've since named Chad after the manager who questioned our honesty. The incident itself was an innocent accident--our young daughter gently bumped into a low table, causing Chad the Duck to take an unfortunate dive. No reckless behavior, no mishandling, just an unfortunate placement of fragile items in a high-traffic area. Instead of a reasonable discussion, we were promptly required to purchase the broken duck and were met with skepticism when we explained what happened. What made matters worse was how dismissively the staff handled the situation. Despite us bringing the broken duck to their attention ourselves, they refused to engage with my wife, avoided eye contact, and simply wrapped Chad up in silence like an awkward mob exchange. To top it off, they even tried to throw away Chad's foot--rendering him about as useless as his namesake--until we insisted on keeping the whole duck (if we were going to pay for him, we were at least taking all of him home). We understand that stores have to account for losses, but making customers pay for accidents caused by poor store layout and handling it with such cold indifference doesn't exactly scream hospitality. That being said, if anyone is in the market for a soon to be repaired ceramic duck with a great backstory, let us know--Chad is looking for a new home. While this experience was disappointing, we still love the hotel and hope future visits bring more relaxing memories...and fewer unexpected purchases. Who knows we might bring Chad back to see where he became a member of our family.

Everything is over-priced as expected but keep in mind you're in the Peabody Hotel and at least 90% of the stock isn't available on Beale Street. Get your rubber duckies and postcards elsewhere, but if you stayed her you probably want the Peabody rubber duck. Lots of t-shirts to choose from, sweatshirts, ornaments, et al. If you've seen the Duck March you should absolutely come in here and look for something. I usually end up with something everytime I'm in Memphis.

Essence stands out as it's own fragrance section with it's kiosk located downstairs. Offering customers a nice selection at great discounts. From Your Calvin Klein's Giorgio Armani & many other brand name fragrances fragrances of colognes and perfume. I'm always pleased at the hospitality and friendliness associates show each customer they greet that comes over to browse at their lovely selection & sample the sents displayed atop of the display cases. Associates are very knowledgeable in description when it comes to the fragrances. I was shown many sents from known ones like Nautica to the obsecure like Man Attitude (no longer stocked) & also newly released or stocked ones Like Hunter or Wanted. I will be coming back again next time I shop for a birthday or valentines day present. For a friend or loved one. I forget the rest & shop with the best at Essence. Over the past few years I've walked by this fragrance station located in front of Victoria's…read moreSecret near the food court time after time and never purchased anything. On the advice of a friend of mine who had recently made a purchase I swung by to inquire about a particular fragrance. My friend informed me that she made a purchase on a fragrance that is also at other stores in the mall that this "store" would price match in order to get a new customer. When I inquired about the fragrance that I was looking for, I came to find out that the listed price for that item was $30-$40 more than what it is normally sold for at other stores, and that the "limited" sale price was only $10 off of that price. To put it in layman's terms a fragrance that you can buy at a department store for $30-$40, was being sold for nearly $70 but on sale for $60. I asked the sales lady about price matching, in which she replied to me that I could purchase the item and take it up with the manager who was not present at the time of my purchase. I really wanted to get this item so that I can give it as a gift soon after the purchase date. That was my mistake, I should've gotten it somewhere else. Following my purchase, I found the company on the web. I was unable to get a phone number or email to contact the company to talk to the manager about my purchase. I ended up making contact with the company through social media which in turn the manager of the location was given my information to contact me by phone. The manager of the Wolfchase location contacted me soon after. After explaining everything to the manager, the manager told me that that fragrance is not sold locally, which is incorrect. She also went into telling me that they have to make a profit in order to pay for rental and employees. I told the manager that I would fully understood that but that I felt it was practically price gouging. I was in support of the smaller businesses which is why I purchased the product here along with the idea that they would price match. The manager stated that she would contact me on Monday morning (when she would be there) about giving me a credit (at cost) towards a fragrance which I thought was a perfect resolution. I was also informed then that all sales were final and there are no refunds! The manager never called. Now that it has been several weeks since the purchase I know that was just a ploy to get me off the phone and be done with me. So don't worry Essence of Wolfchase I will not be back. Side note: I know purchasing namebrand merchandise at the mall is an expensive, but at the prices they charge you could get a premium package of fragrances at Macy's. You will not drive people off Amazon and to a mall with those prices and customer service! Buyer beware! You will regret it.

It was not busy (Tuesday around noon) at all yet a security guard greeted me outside and opened the door for me. Upon entry, I examined a few home/stationery items on the front table then made my way through the sales floor, from left to right, and did a full circle/figure eight within 5-6 minutes while scoping the scene. As a retail manager myself, I pay keen attention to details, service approaches and proactive engagement from sales staff when in an establishment. To say I was appalled wouldn't fully capture the disgust felt when exiting that place. Clearly service with a smile is only rendered to select clientele and the merchandising was overwhelmingly tacky with so much product crammed onto the bland shelving and atop tables, inside casing. I didn't understand the hype previously heard and definitely was unimpressed after encountering the atmosphere for myself. I had money to spend and was frolicking for the day while visiting family in town yet Joseph's missed an opportunity to connect with and secure a new customer for life via inconsiderate and unprofessional staff/discriminatory culture. I have worked for several luxury brands in TX (LV, Ralph Lauren, Neiman Marcus) and fully know what true service and attentiveness look like. The staff I observed were unconcerned with greeting nor serving me as I subsequently read in previous reviews from others. What a shame that this company promotes such behavior and does not value all people who take the time and consideration to visit their store. Never again. Do better.

They make you feel like an outcast. They don't speak, don't look at you and definitely don't make any eye contact with brown skinned people. I would love to shop there more often but don't feel welcomed enough to spend my money there. I had a Natura Bisse facial scheduled there today and was told by Donna that my appointment was cancelled because they had so many people on the waiting list. They say that they did contact me several times, calls, text messages, etc. NO they did neither. So since they could not reach me they scheduled someone else in my space before the appointment even started. I am so upset because I have planned this facial for over a month. And was waiting to purchase my usual skin care products during my facial. This put the icing on the cake for me with this store and their racist sales staff. I recommend you do not shop there!!! Better yet my brown skinned sistas, just walk in the store and see what kind of vibes you get. Case closed!!
