    Potato skins

Cedar Tavern is hands down the best bar in the area. Best prices, best food. It's not quite a dive, but close enough, just without the sticky floors. Super casual, but always clean. They have a nice patio area as well. I love all of the bartenders who are attentive and no nonsense. I've never had a bad meal here. The potato skins are great: huge, full of cheese and always served piping hot. The menu has all kinds of appetizers, sandwiches and pizza. Sometimes the wait for food can be a minute but staff will always tell you in advance how long to expect on food and the wait is usually only when they are super busy or have a ton of carryout orders. The drinks are cheap and plenty, with a decent selection of local beer which is nice if you don't have time to make it to one of the breweries. One of my favorite things about Cedar is that it is decidedly NOT a tourist bar - something that's hard to find in the area. When you go there you feel at home. We've met several people there over the last couple of years, some of whom have become good friends.

The great - the atmosphere was great and the booth we sat on surprisingly comfy. Two had the chicken tender basket 4/5 for one and 5/5 for the other. The perch basket ranked high as well. One had the meatloaf 'sandwich' which arrived more like an open faced hot sandwich. It looked great and got a good review from the friend who had it. The chili was flat out outstanding! Flavorful and just the right amount of spice. Our great server had me taste it right away to make sure the temperature was hot enough. There was a nice variety of draft beer as well. The disappointing - the Bloody Mary. It was a visual masterpiece as you can tell by the attached pictures. The good - both sliders and the fries pickles. The rim was salted with what I describe as fresh everything bagel seasoning and it was really flavorful. The not so good- The onion rings needed more time in the frier as the breading was not very crispy. The bad - the Bloody Mary. Lots of vodka and spice but there wasn't much tomato flavor. I have to say I've never left a Bloody Mary unconsumed until today but I maybe had three sips and it was just bad. Hind site I perhaps should have asked for more tomato juice to add to the drink. As it was I enjoyed the company of friends, great atmosphere and my sliders. We would return again.

I started with their Seafood Chowder ($10) this is said to be loaded with Shrimp, Clams and Crab. I could identify these things individually, however taste wise it was excellent.  I definitely wished the cup of it had been bigger. Price seems a little steep for portion size, but no complaints taste wise. I then ordered their Fried Chicken ($19) this had Golden-Fried Breast, Drum and Thigh with Mashed Potato and asparagus. The chicken was excellent, well seasoned and crispy, but still juicy. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were undercooked. A little harder then I prefer them to be, but edible and at least it was real potatoes. The service was great. Super cheerful and helpful. They accidentally put someone else order on my bill and they corrected it with cheer. Overall a couple minor issues, but still a solid 4 star review for me. Would I return? Absolutely!

Mistakes happen, but to track us down, explain the error, we appreciate the due diligence bc it was a lot more expensive, and she didn't have to do the extra effort! Food was yum, but the Texas toast is just toast. we love Hannah!!!!

With its elegant…read moresetting and abundant windows featuring Lake Michigan views, it makes for a memorable evening. The daily menu was crammed with the best local foods and in August when we visited that meant cherries, luscious vine ripened tomatoes, blueberries and more. In fact I hard a hard time narrowing down even the 4 salads as they all sounded fantastic as did the 10 appetizers. In the end we opted to share some things starting with the light crab "puffs" (really golf-ball-sized crab/rice cakes) which were delicious although a bit light on the accompanying sauce. Next we savored the small summer salad made with juicy dark purple tomatoes, fresh basil and slivers of mozzarella. Our entree was the pecan crusted white fish that was also nicely prepared. Note they add a somewhat outrageous charge for a split plate-around $16, so our fish ended up costing $66! For dessert we chose the turtle sundae festooned with crunchy toasted pecans and a house made caramel sauce. There's a nice wine list too. Service here was top notch with constantly filled water glasses and a very professional staff. I was really pleased and surprised to find a restaurant of this quality located in a tiny vacation hamlet. Highly recommended

While we love great food, we are not "foodies" who do well with super modern/unique takes on classics - and after perusing many menus of different restaurants in the area, we felt like Blu was the right mix of fancy but delicious and classic and we were not disappointed! Pro tip: book a reservation and look when sunset is - we did the 8pm seating with the sun setting around 9-9:30 and if was amazing. They have see through blinds, but raise them up for the sunset and many people walk out to go take a picture on the beach right outside! It's a small intimate restaurant, so in general booking a reservation is advised. The gnocchi was amazing and so flavorful with sun dried tomatoes and succulent shrimp. My spouse got the lamb and really enjoyed the garlic and sauce Robert- and was so happy that it wasn't traditional mint sauce with lamb. The scallops were extremely rich with the asparagus risotto. We did split a crème brûlée which was just okay (maybe a bit too eggy in the texture?) , but they do use real vanilla bean and overall we were stuffed at that point. They have an extensive wine list, cocktail list, and mocktail list which I appreciated as a lady on her baby moon trip :) best Shirley temple I've ever had with real homemade grenadine made from real cherries! Staff is attentive, kind, and always checking to make sure you're taken care of. Overall, yes it's pricey, but for the delicious food, view, overall fanciness - I think it's justified and worth it for a special occasion! We would love to come back in the future.

The service was painfully slow; the young woman waiting on our table was stretched way too thin. It took about 15 min to order drinks and another 15 before they came. We ordered fries to share and burgers, subbing side salads since it sounded delish. Fries came out lightning fast but the portion was TINY for $10 - we had to flag down our waitress to order a second round of drinks (which she didn't even stop to ask if we wanted the same or not, just sprinted away and put them in); when she returned with this round we ordered more fries (accepting we would end up paying $30 for fries...absurd). Burgers came out; as mentioned before these were delish -6oz is a great size and bun was quality. Side salad portion was pathetic. About 6 lettuce pieces with a few toppings sprinkled on. After finishing, we again flagged down the waitress as she blew past and asked for the check. We got the bill and were appalled. For the drinks (vodka with a splash of cranberry; tequila with soda and a splash of lemonade; scotch on the rocks; all served in small cocktail glasses) not only were we charged for the alcohol - but also the mixers as if they were full sized glasses of cranberry and lemonade instead of a 1oz or less splash. Even more ridiculous was being charged for ICE (yes, you read correctly - ICE) in the scotch. Round that out with side salads being priced $1.50 over what was listed on the menu and we concluded we will never be back nor recommend.
