I like Cedar Rose Park. - Plenty of street parking. - There are bathrooms - I wouldn't say super clean, but they exist. - 2 playgrounds - 1 older structure and 1 pretty big and nice tot/older kid structure with sand pit and swings. Not epic, by any means but suffices. Why you love Cedar Rose Park is for the huge field. On most weekdays, kids are having soccer practice (and it can host multiple teams) and there will be a gaggle of dogs playing - it is most definitely a dog meetup at least at that 6/7pm hour. Weekends are filled with families and birthday parties. Part of the bike route connecting downtown Berkeley and the Ohlone Greenway, so a nice bike route with benches sprinkled amongst it with tennis/pickleball courts across the street. Overall a great, green open space in our little city. read more

Nice small park in a residential area in Berkeley!! The Ohlone Greenway trail, goes through this park. The large grassy area was filled with people the day I was here. There's also a small community center and playground here, and it seems very popular with the local residents. Nice park!! read more

The description of Cedar Rose Park is false. Wel maintenaned not so! The bathroom,only one, Is deplorable. To have one bathroom for the 500 people using the park was so inconsiderate. No toilet paper. Why no porta potties. I will report this site to the health department! No excuse for this park running like this!! i read more

Cedar Rose Park is a good sized, clean, well maintained park hidden in this neighborhood. there's lot of greenry to hang around on or to have local community events. amenities: walkways, community center, tennis, sandlot, children's playground, swings, lots of greens, tall trees. street parking. almost something for everyone here. read more

What another amazing park in Berkeley! We have been experiencing more Berkeley parks due to school birthdays so have been thoroughly enjoying that! We visited Cedar Rose park back in October and it was lovely. Big playground for all ages and ample green space! Overall a nice small park for the community! We went on a Saturday morning and it got super busy by the totland area with the local soccer practice for the little ones. Our little one is still learning to walk so the amenities/play area are a bit advance for her. We see families having picnics and also setting up for BBQs. Not sure how competitive it is to get a grill, but cool to see folks out and about in Berkeley's cooler summer weather! read more

Today was my son's first play date. His best friend from daycare will be leaving next week and we wanted to build a connection between the parents in order to maintain the relationship. This park was the perfect setting. In between a birthday party and what appeared to be a wedding reception we alternated between two different playgrounds; one for toddlers and one for bigger kids. Our kids are on the cusp. The kids safely played on swings, bridges, in the sand, down slides, running the field ...etc. They tired themselves out (which is the whole point of a park visit, in my opinion). found this place thru Yelp after finding out that Totland is closed. Easy parking around the area is a plus. There seem to be 2 sets of playground: one is for 2-5 year olds. My son is only 14 months old but I went ahead and brought him. He liked the sand part, the slide and bridge. The place was crowded around noon. . Clean place. I've driven past this charming park over a dozen times over the years but recently attended a baby shower there. Though it was a cloudy day, we had the perfect spot for a picnic near the tot playground. My daughter and my friend's young children were happy climbing on the turtle dome, the spring toys, running through the tunnels and back and forth to the wooden play structure. We had benches on which to set up our lunchtime buffet but most of us brought lawn chairs and blankets. There were many parties taking place despite the gloomy weather. The one glaring minus: the bathroom has no door and is filthy. The only thing between you and the rest of the world is a chain. My best friend preferred to head back to work and use the facilities at her office rather than stay at the park. Nevertheless, my daughter has requested another visit soon. read more

Came here for the first time with my son, yesterday. I'll definitely hit it up again someday. He was very much in love with the tire-swing. They have a couple different play structures, which was nice so I could keep my sick boy segregated from the other kids. Seems that they possibly have a no-leash policy for dogs? Or the one dog owner I saw there didn't seem to care. (Which is fine by me, as long as the dog is well behaved and safe to have around kids). I'm not a fan of those who leave their dog poop near the playground, though! Pick up your poop!!! (probably a different dog, just for clarity). read more

This park loses one star because it occasionally has bees. The bees aren't that bad, but one did sting my foot recently. I love dropping by this park after work to spin poi, lay on the grass, watch the sunset. Sometimes groups take over the center portion of the grass field to play soccer or badminton, usually on the weekend. read more

Went to the children's birthday party here. Overall the park was well kept, it had a good amount of trees and a brand new play structure for the kiddos. Parking was ample since it is tuck away in a neighborhood. Dogs, kids, teens, everyone was enjoying the sunshine. I gave this place only three stars for one reason . . . the bathroom. Literally a structure with no door - just a chain you are supposed to put up when someone in in there but virtually no privacy. You definitely need someone to go with you to stand guard. By far the strangest bathroom I have seen - honestly I would have preferred a port potty . . . at least it has a door. It was pretty gross and dirty. At least it flushed. I personally would never have a party here just for the bathroom issue but I must say that it was a very nice park otherwise and the playground structure looked pretty cool. read more

beware parents! there is a guy who goes into the ONLY restroom, which only has a weak chain versus a door. This is where kids line up waiting and he sits there for an hour or longer either talking to himself, on the phone, or watching porn?? today a 52 bus driver really needed to get in there, but nope, the guy once again over stayed his welcome. Then a line of kids playing soccer joined the Que. I am there often and when I am with kids, the guy is there, and when I Leave at the end of the day, the guy is there. They really need more than one single bathroom at this park, with more privacy and an actual door and maybe one specially reserved for children and their helpers, and parents as who KNOWS what creepy stuff is going on with this guy?? The sounds he makes are very suspicious. There are many social problems at this park, and issues with homeless people. I don't know if he falls into this category, but seriously the homeless issue needs to be addressed with some good social services, access to showers and bathrooms and actual AFFORDABLE housing with their own bathrooms, so people don't have to live in vans and over spend time in public park restrooms. It's especially difficult when little children need to use the potty there, they cannot always wait an hour or longer for this guy to vacate his "office", doing who knows what! With Taxes what they are, I am sure the city can provide better restrooms with DOORS especially when children are involved. read more

The renovated the children's playground here earlier this year. It's simple, but kids between the ages of 2-6 will have a good time here for 30-40 minutes before they get bored and start whining. A high point is the turtle that squirts water out of its mouth into the sand below. Next to the children's playground is the large grassy field. As long as there's not a group of adults playing soccer or football, it's a fun place to toss a Frisbee or kick a ball around with the kids. The Ohlone Greenway goes right through the park, so there's also the opportunity to ride your bike to this place. read more

Great park for all sorts of ACTIVITY! I loved walking by here on my way home from BART and seeing loads of kids of all ages playing in just about every square inch of this flat little grassy green slice of open space. It's really a fun park and I have been coming here for a long time. The play structure for the kiddie park is ok the turtle used to spray water but the button is broken. Some of the negative things about it is. a. People pick up after your dogs please other people use the park to. b. The bathroom. i love playing tennis. so my buddy who i go to college with has been after me to show him how good i am but I don't usually brave the bay bridge much on weekends & he is always ducking out of the city to hit bart. anyway, this weekend he and his gf are having a cookout and i decided to make the trek over berserkely way. he tells me come early & we can have that match we been shitting about for ever so i make the effort and chug enough coffee to get my bouncin and we meet up at their place and walk over to cedar rose. they got 3 good size courts and there wasn't much competition so we had full run of the park. didn't see any lights so this is probably better for daytime acvtivity. you late owls will need nightvision goggles or to hit another court. so i pound him into the pavement in the 1st set. he comes back slightly in game 2 and then crucifies me in the last game, which was just for kicks. I still clenched the title with best of 3 so he is my new bitch and has to buy me coffees all through summer school. i got game. great park, i dig it. read more

Such beautiful park with something for everyone, toddlers have their own space, older kids have a playground, and then there is an enormous open grassy field big enough for kids and dogs galore to run around. Always peaceful and fun. Love it! read more
