Berkeley has so many amazing parks truly. I feel we don't have this many amazing ones in Oakland. We have celebrated few school birthdays in Berkeley now and Live Oak Park is another gem added to the collection. It is just such a vast park with so much greenery. They have a playground as well and clean bathrooms near the center. We played mainly by the creek where the birthday was set up by the picnic benches. Super fun. Kids had a blast exploring the creek together

Montage of images from Live Oak Park - Nine images in a collage display different areas of Live Oak Park in Berkeley, CA, including walking trails, bridges, shaded pathways, and large trees. The photos capture the park's greenery, wooden bridges, and shaded areas, emphasizing outdoor recreation and nature. The collage is framed with a decorative border featuring white rabbits on a yellow background, adding a playful touch to the presentation.

Now this is what you call a good, old-fashioned community park, which isn't such a big deal in itself. Except for the fact that Berkeley has so many rock outcroppings that they make parks out of a lot of them. What I mean is that the rocks are the parks. Since I'm not a rock climber, I just envisioned all the twisted ankles in my future. Live Oak, on the other hand, offers 5-1/2 acres of well tended grass, huge oak trees, courts, and play areas surrounding Codornices Creek. There's an arts center and winding walkways to complete the picture. What's not to love about this very family friendly space? RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Calm, beautiful park in a residential setting. Perfect for a picnic or afternoon sun! Tennis courts are close by as well.

Can't think of a better place to take a peaceful quarantine walk when I need to escape Tenantsville and listen to nature's music. Steps from home, but a world apart. Perfect for quality me time, morning yoga, socially-distant picnics, you name it.

Another comfortable park nearby. I did walk to this so I can't say much about the parking. Open field on one side of the park for picnics, relaxing, running around, etc. As a so-cal native, it's refreshing to be surrounded by big trees. I also enjoy how all the parks I've been to have bridges and little nooks with picnic benches. It feels private and open at the same time.

I was discriminated against by one of the staff his name is Brian he told me it was closed off to the public . What caught my eye was a work out / dance team and I wanted to know how to sign up.. I was greeted with" Can I help u, We are closed to the public" It always sad to be discriminated against when it's your own race rather mixed or not

It's too cold to go into the water but you can see a bit of San Francisco on a clear day. Its actually a perfect representation of the Bay Area for visitors. Cold, sky is gray, and rocks near the water is covered with slippery seaweed. At the very end of University Ave you can find plenty of parking and two of the odd/unique attractions. There is a giant sundial near the pier. Its 10 foot in diameter and a gift from Berkeley's sister city Sakai, Japan. There is a giant proto-asian culture style statue called "The Guardian" on the grass. The Guardian is an extrapolation of a six-inch clay and wood sculpture in a Buddhist temple in Penang. The city fiercely resisted Frederic Fierstein's plopping of the Guardian. Fierstein fiercely fought back. Fierstein gathered signatures and placed an initiative on the ballot in support of the Guardian. The worst thing about coming so early are there was a person smoking weed in their car and kept loudly cursing on the phone even with kids and old people visibly around.

One is a flat area with a play scape and a cement slide. There's actually a tunnel nearby that goes under the road and crosses over to the rose garden, which is really cool. The cement slide is a must see for anyone with kids and even if you're an adventurous adult. There are plenty of cardboard boxes around for you to try it out. When I first heard about the cement slide, I didn't think it would be very fun, (cement and sliding didn't go together in my mind) but it is great! Then just a little bit south, above that play scape area, there's a baseball field. So many different people come here to meet. Some people for picnics, some people play soccer, some people play softball, some people bring their dogs. And then inside the woods behind the park, there are a picnic benches. I have a friend who had her wedding reception there. You can reserve them with the city. And then behind the picnic area, there's a hike and if you're very adventurous, there is a waterfall hidden, but it's not easy to find if you don't know about it. I highly recommend this park. During the winter, the baseball field is blocked off with Fence to protect the grass but other parts of the park are accessible.

At the moment, visitors are not able to feed the animals due to health concerns, but it's still great being able to walk around and see them in a peaceful setting. The surrounding area is also beautiful. There are amazing hiking trails all around Tilden, so you can easily turn a quick visit into a full day outdoors. On a sunny day, the views, fresh air and open space make the whole place feel very relaxing. Overall, it's a simple, wholesome place to visit, especially if you want kids to experience animals and nature without spending money. Definitely worth checking out on a sunny day.

Super cute, just chillaxing :) This farm allows for petting of the animals with caution, but lots of signs saying no feeding allowed. There's also educational opportunities on site, wash stations, restrooms, and a free parking lot for convenience, to go along with free admission to the farm.
