This campground is probably great for a self-contained camper that only needs hookups. People are…read morefriendly. Restooms are clean. Most sites are large, flat, and surrounded by trees. Restroom facilities are sparce. There are two restroom facilities and one of them has two shower stalls per gender for the entire campground. Tent sites are far from all facilities. I wonder why so many campgrounds, including this one, puts Class A, long-term campsites near the restrooms and leaves the rest of us, who need restrooms, to struggle with the long walk.

We found White Birches, it was still open to our surprise. The spot we were at was pretty close to the other RV's but we weren't complaining. The best thing about this place was the "Shelburne Basin Trail" that is part of the camp ground. We got up early and went and hiked it. So beautiful!!!! All the fall leaves and the river were breathtaking! I definitely recommend this campground. The hook up were great and we were able to fill our propane tank as well.

Well stocked campstore, lots of games and things for kids to do outdoors or borrow a game from the desk for your campsite, plenty of safe space for kids to ride bikes and explore. Nice shower house. We rented the…read moreBalsam Fir cabin which is located right next to First Connecticut Lake (see picture) and were not disappointed. The view was amazing. The cabin was very clean with a spacious kitchen and living room with cable TV. There were two bedrooms, one with queen size mattress and the other with two full size beds. There was also an extra full bed in the living room. The bathroom was small but functional. The cabins come with pots, pans, mugs, plates, bowls, utensils, coffee machine, microwave and fridge . Just be sure to bring your own salt, pepper, and other condiments. On Saturday we spent the whole day outside riding ATVS and water skiing. Then grabbed dinner at the Rainbow Grill on Beach Rd. It was the best food we have had in a long time. We will definitely be back Ramblewood Cabins next year and hopefully spend more than just a few days.

My wife and I stayed at this campground for our first trip to the White Mountains. We were very…read moreimpressed with the different options for each campsite, we chose one closer to the river. It is very easy to get to and is right off the Kancamagus Highway. Full disclaimer: our stay was late June, right before Memorial Day so it we had the place to ourselves. We chose campsite #10, it had plenty of space for our vehicle and made it very easy for load in/out. I believe it was $22/night (bring cash or check for the honor system envelope drop by the entrance of the campground).The campsite is close to the river but not close enough to hear it. However, there was a little trail from our campsite to the water and it took only a minute to get there. If you want a campsite really close to the Swift River, you'll need to get a campsite #21-24. Our campsite had a picnic table and a large fire ring with a grill grate that will lower over the fire. There were even some large tree stumps left there for seating. We didn't have anyone camping around us, but I'd imagine each campsite has a good amount of privacy and space during peak season. Id recommend buying firewood before you arrive at Passaconoway. The year-round campground host sells firewood (which is very convenient) but you can get double your money's worth if you buy them from little wood stands on the side of the road. If you're passing through Lincoln (via 93 exit on Kancamagus) you will see some self serve wood piles by some gas stations.

Passaconnaway is a great (relatively) primitive campground right off the Kanc. It's got drinking…read morewater and outhouses, but no showers, sinks, or RV hookups. It has a couple of nicely secluded spots and tends to stay pretty quiet (in part because of the lack of amenities). There's a series of trailheads from the lot just across the street that acess some beautiful hikes, and since it's close to the center of the Kanc you're pretty close to whatever else you want to go see in that neck of the woods. Bring cash because it's an "iron ranger" system (currently $20 per night for one car) and the firewood there is $6 a bundle.

Any questions there is always a friendly staff member to steer you in the right direction. Tent sites, RV sites, cabins, and even a yurt, your choice. My 2 favorite sites are 69 and 74 with 74 over looking the lake. All sites are clean. Landscape very well maintained. Pool is excellent. Laundry room, dish washing area, rec center. Outside chess board, fishing, paddle boats and kayaks. I highly recommend this campground. Great place to camp with kids also. Right down the road from santas villiage amusement park.

Mountain Lake Camping Resort is one of our favorite locations to camp in New England. Located a…read morecouple hours north of Nashua and Manchester it's the perfect place to getaway without being too far from home. Everything about this campground shows that the owners take great pride in it. They have online bookings, text communications (including reservation and quiet time reminders) and they have recently added a checkin booth so you don't have to hop out of your vehicle to go into the office to register. The views of the lake are gorgeous (especially in the Fall) and the landscaping is well maintained. There are several amenities like a pool w/ water slides, dog park, beach, fishing dock, dog swimming dock, paddle boat/kayak rentals, playground and oversized chess/checkers. You can also order homemade muffins to pick up in the morning for breakfast. Their campground store is also one of the cleanest and most well stocked ones that I've ever seen. The prices were also very reasonable (although I really wanted a hoodie as a memento and $40 was just a little more than I was comfortable spending). The biggest negative of this campground is that if you have one of the sites near the front there is quite a bit of road noise. That kills a bit of the ambiance while trying to kick back and relax but the beautiful views from the sites near the front mostly make up for the sounds of loud vehicles passing by. It's also not enough of a nuisance to rate them any lower than 5 stars. In addition to regular camping sites they also offer yurt and cabin rentals which is a nice option for people who don't own camping gear or aren't fans of traditional camping. If you're looking for a lovely place to get away Mountain Lake Camping Resort is an excellent choice!

Let's back up though, last year was our first experience, we had the Italian sausages and poutine. I'll always get the poutine if it's on the menu! Both were delish. This past weekend we stopped in again and saw that they expanded their menu. The smash burgers were AMAZING. Real, thick bacon, hot off the grill. It might be top 5 burgers I've ever had. MAYBE top 2! Staff is so friendly, even the guests at the RV park are friendly and helpful. They have a pool at the front of the park, people are always in that relaxing. The RV park is right off of a main road, that is part of the OHRV trail system. It's a perfect stop while you are out riding. Prices are fair, they accept credit cards and cash, they have some yard games set up (jenga, cornhole) and some bathrooms for you to use during your stop. Can't recommend this place enough!
