The splash pad has a dedicated fenced in area for the water fun, and a nice grassy area with tables and seating. Perfect for a picnic! I love taking walks with my daughters along the lake, admiring the views and enjoying the wildlife. If you're adventurous you can rent a canoe or kayak from the boathouse and take it out onto the lake as well. This park is a beautiful place to spend time on a weekend!

You can also walk on the unpaved trail along the water (it's very smooth and stroller-friendly). There is a playground. It's split into two areas for different ages. It's great in theory but I found it a bit lacking. There's a rudimentary playground that's labeled as 2-5. And a crunk playground (3-tiered, with gnarly slides) labeled as 5-12. Don't get me wrong -- this big playground is awesome for older kids. But it's a bit too advanced/scary for a 3-year-old. Meanwhile, the little playground was too simple/easy for her. So there's a middle age that isn't really catered to. But, great for 2-year-olds and 5+. There are also multiple parks with playgrounds within a short driving distance (Champion, Olson Meadows) so you can easily park hop.

Brushy Creek Lake Park - Cedar Park, this is a joke. So many safety risks and completely inefficient kayakers.

I think it's important to download a map that outlines the whole trail. There are parts when you think it ends but it actually detours and continues. One of these parts is at Kenny Fort Blvd, the trail really goes an additional two miles east if you start at The Rabb House on AW Grimes. The doggo loves this trail and the shade it provides. There are some awesome benches to stop, rest and enjoy the sights and sounds of the creek. There are also plenty of poop bag stations and fountains along the way. I absolutely love these Round Rock trails and we visit often. Just be prepared for a crowd during the weekend.

I often walk through this park with my dog as there are two pet waste stations, offering convenience on both ends of the park. During the weekends, more families bring their kids to the playgrounds, but the park is more or less empty during the week. Buttercup Creek Park also features two tennis courts with lights. You must purchase a key from Cedar Park Parks & Recreation. The courts are well-maintained and open on a first-come, first-served basis. The pool is open to the public during the summer, but check the Cedar Park Recreation website for current hours. There is also ample parking available. I took off one star because the park itself is tiny. Though it packs a ton of amenities, one could walk from one end to the other in 1-2 minutes. Overall, Buttercup Creek Park is a great place to visit.

It is a large pool with a shallow and deep end with a diving board. There is also a ramp that you can walk in slowly with your babies or handicapped persons. The ramp literally looks like a wheelchair ramp that goes into the water along one side of the pool. The pool has a "lap" part where more serious swimmers can swim laps and an "open" part where you can just float around and play in the water freely. There is also a kiddie pool that is very shallow for toddlers and babies - still needs supervision of course. There is a fenced gate around the kiddie pool to separate it from the larger pool. There is shading under a large tree and small picnic tables, too. There were also lounging chairs that you can lay back on and sun bathe. They aren't open all year round but usually only during summer break. The lifeguards are usually highschool kids .. for summer jobs. There are plenty of parking spaces, restrooms, showers to rinse off and water fountains. Also if you're into PokemonGo there are a couple of stops and a gym here. :)

Note that there is no fencing along the perimeter of the park. The basketball court received a new coat of paint, and the court lines were redrawn. Previously, it was just black asphalt, but now it offers the opportunity for team play, especially with the stadium lights that light up during the evening. Lights do turn off automatically at 10pm. The playground is a good size, with various climbing walls and two slides. Fresh mulch was laid down a few months ago, softening the impact during play. The pavilion has four picnic tables and an outdoor grill. A sign from Cedar Park Park and Recreation outlines the rules for use. It is possible to walk your dog along the perimeter of the park by walking on the sidewalk on two sides and on the grass on the other two sides. A pet waste bag station stands to the side with a large trash can to dispose of pet waste.

Most of the park is dedicated to a large swath of green space, but it does have 4 covered picnic tables with a grill, a full basketball court and a playscape with a couple of swings. Both the basketball court and the playground area have lighting for the evening hours. A couple of things missing from this location are public bathrooms, and any connective trails that would lead to another park or preserve. There is no parking lot here so you'll have to park along the residential streets. Nonetheless, this is still a very nice asset to the local residents in this community.
