The class sizes are smaller, the curriculum is amazing, my son is an honor student and is excelling not only academically, but at life. I love working at Newman. We have the greatest staff and teachers that truly care about their students. There is genuine love for students and their families at Newman and it is a very safe and beautiful environment as well! The reviews below made me so sad. I am sure that caring parents reading the reviews will be able to read between the lines and understand that for whatever reason the reviews were written by people that were upset with the school for enforcing policies, behavior expectations, and school rules that are outlined in the Student Handbook - which every parent and student receives and then signs an acknowledgement of receipt and understanding. of the contents. Students are allowed to wear any jacket outside, the Newman approved school jackets are for inside. Newman does enforce the dress code and I am glad. If I am following the rules and providing the proper uniform for my child, I expect other parents to do the same. Newman is a school that follows the rules and policies. As a parent of a student here, and an employee, I am so happy. I have a good student that does his job and behaves well. Everyone from students to parents and faculty was just as nice as they could be. My only complaint and feedback for the school is that they are trying to go cashless on ticket sales and also their concession sales. Their ticket sells app, though simple, requires too many steps. I actually ended up buying tickets for a family that was very confused on how to navigate back-and-forth on the steps for the app. And that was one of their own families, not one of us visiting families. Well, the cashless set up at the concession stand was far more simple. Once again the reader was having problems, making the process far more complicated than it needed to be. Another thing that I don't think is too cool, is most students have cash and don't carry a credit card. So there are you in the app with kids to order things and then find out that they don't have a means to pay for it. So they need to streamline their cashless policy and at least figure out a way that kids can pay if they don't have a credit card. Review #2124

The junior high history teacher takes the students on two history trips and pours himself into the kids regularly. The athletics department teaches the core values of sportsmanship. The memory I had was of lacquered formed plywood seats, sweaty smelling air, stained concrete floors with horrible sound systems. This high school was not those I remember! Easy to find on the campus and near plenty of parking! HUGE auditorium with carpeted floors, padded seats that were comfortable to sit on for 8 hours, CLEAN air and a professional modern sound system that interacted easily with a laptop. That said, this school feels like a PRISON. The STAFF are rude and are DICTATORS and HYPOCRITES, and the STAFF doesn't care about the students until something happens to the students or teachers. When the first day of school started, they had this big pep rally, and most of the staff who were there who are rude act like they are wholesome when really they are hypocrites and liars because they were bragging about us getting new computers, and come time to get the computers, they were old, broken, missing keys, nasty liquids, damaged screens, and buttons didn't work, which is funny. Also in the mornings almost everyday kids are late because of these phone pouches and them turning away kids from the building so it makes kids late which they got to get tardy which doesn't make since because its the school fault and which is why it takes one of the parts why they attendants scores are low and they are teaching us on a middle school level when we are in high which means lack of understanding to the students of DUNCANVILLE HIGH but I guess that's wrong . They are even willing to stop instruction immediately and hold transcripts hostage if the outstanding balance is not paid in full. Even after pleading to possibly set up a payment plan, this school rejected the idea and offered no alternatives or resolution for the unforeseen, unfortunate circumstance.
