This was not only displayed throughout the service but also during the business aspect of the process. Now to fast track ahead one year after mom was buried. On Memorial day this year (2019) family went to the graveyard to pay our honors. We drove down from ATL. We were heartbroken and saddened when we got there that a headstone had not been ordered and placed on mom's site as was promised (family member). So, hubby and I called Mr. Reid (Sr) for guidance and direction (a year later!). He remembered us. His service did not stop last Spring. when mom passed but he treated us as though we were still his customers. We were very touched and will follow through with his directions. I rated this funeral home with a 4 star only because they could use an update on some of their aesthetics (looks) ... modernize the facility. Other than that the facility was clean, customer service great and staff was/is very accommodating!

When it's time to find a funeral home, the choices in the Augusta surrounding area is varied …read more There are many options for a grieving family to choose from. We selected FairHaven Funeral and Cremation as the one to handle the prearrangement for our dear friend, Lore. Prior to the final day of Lore's life, my wife and I had a meeting with Steve to make those arrangements as required. Steve was most knowledgeable and showed great compassion in these times of need. As it happens, the service was actually needed the very next day! A call to FairHaven was made and from that one call, the process was transparent and went flawless. The necessary actions were done in accordance with the wishes of the family and all relevant coordinating actions needed between the Hospital, funeral home, and the cemetery involved was done in a timely manner. The actual date of burial was arranged, the transportation of the deceased was determined and arranged for the time of the simple burial ceremony. The whole process was performed in a most professional manner. The complete procedure to include getting the copies of Death Certificates, all speak volumes of the sincere desire to do what is necessary with the least amount of inconvenience to the grieving family. Steve, Hannah and the rest of the office personnel all played a huge part to ensure that this process went smoothly. In time of need, please give FairHaven a call and see what they can do for you. Thank you FairHaven for your service!

You expect for them to be calm, collected, patient and empathic. Platt's was none of these things. I went in to get information about how I needed to proceed. The lady that I spoke with, not only tried to convince me to get things I didn't want, she also tried to convince me to sign a contract before I left. Telling me that if anyone else needs to sign, that they can come in later. I understand that they are in the business to make money, but to take advantage of someone doing this time is unacceptable. The New Savannah Cemetery sits in a quiet patch of woods near the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam,…read moreand it feels like one of those places where Augusta's earliest history is still holding on in the shade. The burial ground dates back to 1733, tied to an eighteenth century trading post community that once stood along the Savannah River, and although that settlement disappeared long ago, the cemetery survived as its last physical trace. By the early twentieth century the brick enclosure had crumbled into fragments, and the site looked more like a ruin than a landmark, which is why the Georgia Society of the Colonial Dames stepped in around 1935 to rebuild portions of the wall and place the plaque that still marks the spot today. Inside the partial brick enclosure you find only a handful of surviving headstones, including members of early Richmond County families like the Arringtons and the Beals, scattered beneath tall trees draped in Spanish moss. Most of the burials date from the late 1700s into the early 1800s, and the exact number is unknown, which adds to the sense of quiet mystery that hangs over the place. Even though it sits not far from the Lock and Dam Park, the cemetery feels remote, almost forgotten, and the combination of brick ruins, mossy shade, and eighteenth century graves gives it an atmosphere that lingers with you long after you leave. Note that most of the roadways in the cemetery are just barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass each other. If encountering one coming toward you, slow down and hug the shoulder of the road. THE GROUNDS The grounds are well maintained, and include a duck pond and meditation garden. Do be aware that, while you're welcome to place flowers and other memorials at a tombstone, the maintenance crew will remove them and throw them out once they're out of season. Westover is a peaceful place - allowing you to think and remember.

Her wake and her remains were handled with care. There was tons of family I haven't seen in years there. She had 33 grandchildren so there was tons of kids running around.
