My husband and i went in for a tasting, place was hidden behind other shops in little Nashville would have been a good first experience, but the attendant was very dry no talking, communication was not sociable at all turned me off and after tasting we headed out. I will say ones that engage and recognize your existence make a lasting impression only winery we did not buy from.

Wonderfully done. We dropped by for a look and wound up staying for the afternoon. Took a few bottles along for our road trip.

We love that they walk you through all the ingredients and even give you recipe cards so you can try to make it at home. Somehow it's never quite the same when we make it ourselves, which is exactly why we keep coming back to enjoy it firsthand. We've also done the tour multiple times, and it's always a great experience--very informative and well done. The tastings along the way are a lot of fun and just add to the overall experience. Great drinks, great staff, and always worth the stop.

When people think of whiskey in Indiana's Brown County, they might think of that other place. (You…read moreknow the one.) But there is another distillery quietly making small-batch, high-quality spirits in Nashville, and that's Bear Wallow Distillery. Located just outside of downtown Nashville, Bear Wallow Distillery is one of the only female-owned distilleries in the country. They create their spirits in a traditional copper pot still, which I learned is unique. Inside the tasting room, you can enjoy a whiskey tasting or a flight, or sip a craft cocktail and relax in the shop. I chose to enjoy a "Call Me Old Fashioned" standing up at the bar, while chatting with the guy who made me my drink. My Old Fashioned was well balanced, not too sweet and made me feel all warm inside, as a good Old Fashioned should. Those who are interested in learning more about the whiskey-making craft can go on a Farm-to-Fifth Tour, which takes you behind the scenes to learn about the history of whiskey and see the full production process. I did, and I found it very informative! I had a new appreciation for the kind of whiskey and spirits they are making here at Bear Wallow Distillery. From the ingredients they choose to the barrels they use, they really put their foot in it, as they say. If you like whiskey, or just like to try local spirits, this is a good place to visit in Nashville.

Our tour included basic bourbon making, and a tasting in the distilling area. Full bar with signature cocktails, if you're going in town to big woods you might find the same cocktails at a lower price?! Our favorite was the sweat mash bourbon. They are planning on having some bourbon aged in white oak barrels from wood harvested from the distillery grounds. There's so much to experience -- from tours and tastings to different activities -- and the food menu is just as impressive as the drinks. Our family loves their cinnamon vodka, so grabbing a bottle was a must. I ordered the Valentine's Day French Kiss cocktail, which was bubbly, light, and super refreshing. We shared the Pulled Pork Nachos and the Grilled Cheese -- the pulled pork was incredibly flavorful and definitely the standout. I personally would've loved a few extra toppings on the nachos, but overall everything was fantastic. Between the atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food, and great drinks, it was a 10/10 experience. Shout out to our server, Gus! Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the Nashville, IN area!

Just keep in mind that the wines lean heavily sweet. Some of their more popular flavors include Peanut Butter & Jelly, Moscato and Cotton Candy, if that gives you a taste of the sweetness level that you can expect! Range 46 is a family-friendly and pet-friendly farm winery. When I visited, there was also a corn maze for guests to visit. There's patio seating and indoor seating, so you can try a wine tasting or flight at the bar, or take it outside on the outdoor patio during nice weather. At certain times during the summer, the winery also has special events with live music and food trucks. One of the reasons why I love visiting wineries and doing wine tastings is because sometimes, I make surprising discoveries. I went into Range 46 thinking that I wasn't a Chardonnay lover (or even a liker). But when I walked out, the only bottle I had purchased was a Chardonnay! Hot dang! The Chardonnay at Range 46 was quite tasty, and I was surprised by how much I loved it. I loved it just as much once I got it home and cold. It pays to go outside your comfort zone and open your mind up to something new.

This one, however, rocketed to the top of our list among Hoosier wineries whose products we have tried. Not only was the wine a treat, the experience of the visit was also memorable. The facility was very nice, from the impressive external landscaping to the lovely wine shop/tasting bar to the relaxing garden-patio-themed dining area. We visited with the intention of just doing a tasting but ended up having a light lunch along with that tasting. We were glad that we did as the charcuterie board that we ordered was terrific with olives, naan, hummus, chips, cucumbers and more. It was enough to be shareable. But the highlight was still the wine. We also shared the flight as we did not want to overdo it. We tried the Peach Sangrini, Peach Pie, Lemon Moscato, Raspberry Espresso and Sweet Red Lime. All were good but I'd have to say that the standouts to me were the Lemon Moscato, which was refreshing and tasty, and the Sweet Red Lime which delivered what the name implied with a citrusy, lightly sweet flavor. The prices were not bad as I thought it was a good value for what we received. I would be remiss if I did not also note that the service was top-notch. Our server was efficient, attentive and knowledgeable. The greeter was also pleasant and welcoming. It is likewise noteworthy that we had our 8-month-old granddaughter with us, and it was greatly appreciated that they offered a family-friendly experience that accommodated her as well. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Indy, so this place is just an hour or so away. We'll look forward to the next time we can visit as there are several other varieties of wine that appear to be worth trying.
