I've been a resident for almost 5 years. This management team and the ownership has been very responsive and professional. The maintenance team is top notch. I could not be happier with our complex. Thank you @ read more

My wife and I lived at Cedar Common Complex for a year and a half since July 2021 and I start with the conclusion that I do not recommend this complex mainly due to its unsafe area and poor management. Initially, we moved into this complex because in July 2021, there were very few one-bedroom complexes available for our move. However, I wish we had paid a bit more and chosen a better complex. I had a $500 foldable bike that they cut the chain during the daytime and stole in front of our unit (see the image below.) They have some cameras around. But that is a joke! It is only active with motion and only saves maybe 2-3hrs a day. So they could not find whoever stole our bike, and management did not care about it, as if this was so common. If you wash clothes in their public washers, you have to stand by them. They steal clothes very frequently. You can not dump the trash in the trash can late at night. We have seen some homeless people sleeping in the trash can rooms. It can be scary at night to go to the trash can room. We sometimes leave food or unwanted stuff for them. Many addicted people are around the complex at nighttime, especially on weekends. There is a school and a parking area right behind this complex which makes this complex very unsafe. One night a drunk girl with all vomit around her was sleeping in front of our complex. This complex has four entrance gates, and almost always, one is broken. Therefore, it makes it easy for anyone to get into the complex. After many complaints, they added a security person to walk around the unit. But it was useless. Still, homeless and strangers are in the unit, especially on weekend nights. He is a lovely guy. But he is not always there, and as he told us, one person is not enough for such a large complex. The manager, Gina, only respects you when you move in. After that, she is a different person! They never address our issues. At our move-out, she charged us $300 for no reason. $90 painting, $100 for general cleaning, $80 for carpet cleaning, and $20 for drip pans. When we moved out, we made sure the unit was spotless. Be careful of this management. I wish someone had written these reviews before we moved in. read more

I stand corrected... this place is garbage... don't fall on hard tines and think they would work with you... I was late a couple times paying rent but still paid the late fee.i was late maybe a day or two because of billing g with work... I talked to Vanessa and said it was OK. Dropped off my payment over the weekend, and on that Monday was served with an eviction notice... 5 years later, there is a class action suit against my company I work for. Not paying on time and cutting hours on ppls paychecks. If this never happened I would still be there... 12 days and you get evicted... read more

If I could give this place no stars I would, DO NOT MOVE here because they will try to ruin your life. Notice all their 4-5 star reviews from people with no pictures and they only rated cedar Commons. Pretty suspicious. They will seriously do some shady stuff to you here. RUN FAR AWAY! read more

Worst place ever to live...it took them 3 days to fix my toilet..the rent office has a teenager Merissa who I hate having to deal with because I feel like I'm taking to a lil kid...Gina keeps cash that goes though the slot .the office has goes down hill since the loss of Vanessa and Stephanie!...Mark the maintenance man a joke and been working here so long he does the bare minimum to fix things...my tub got mold my toilet broke for days ...this place is worst!!! read more

Management is helpful, sweet, and protective! The property is awesome and I love it here! Home sweet home! I recommend to anyone looking for a new place in central Fresno! read more

Garbage and completely outdated !!! I would not recommend renting from these people. They're very unprofessional and I am positive they have no idea what they're doing. Vanessa and that girl working in the office are very uneducated about tenant rights and housing laws. Don't let them fool you and be very careful about keeping things in writing. If you live there and are having issues I promise you you probably have a lawsuit on your hands. If you don't be careful and document your stuff because you will have one they don't get their things together. Very shady complex beware and bewarned. If you have any questions or need advice feel free to message me directly on Yelp I've dealt with landlords before in the past and can give you a lot of free information what to do. read more

I lived at Cedar Commons for almost 2 years (the only reason I moved was the need for a larger place). I was nervous as it was my first time living alone. However, throughout my time residing here I never once felt unsafe. The community is gated with only resident entry (you need a gate key or a resident to beep you in). A security guard is on the premises walking around from about 10pm-6am. Neighbors are quiet and friendly. Maintenance and groundskeeper are also friendly. They have always been on top of making sure property is in working order and community is well maintained and clean. Honestly, I never had any issues living here. The only time I did was when my AC went out on the hottest day of summer. I was worried calling in on a Saturday, assuming it would take a few days to fix. To my surprise, Vanessa, the property manager, had a worker come out within the hour! My AC was up and running in under 2 hours! Speaking of Vanessa, she was part of the reason I felt at ease the day I signed my rental agreement. She was super friendly and personable and made sure to make me feel welcomed and comfortable if I ever needed anything. I've lived at a fair share of apartment complexes and Vanessa is by far the best at what she does. She makes Cedar Commons an enjoyable, peaceful and serene community to live in. I wish Vanessa was the property manager at my new residence. If you're thinking of living here, I would definitely recommend it. It's close to the freeway and is centrally located, so everything you need is in close range. Thanks again Cedar Commons for a great living experience! read more

Vanessa was great an professional, the apartments are quiet an tons of shade. Had a couple minor fixes an they came that day an fixed everything. Truly appreciate it all. read more

Vanessa ensured that my apartment was ready to move into. The apartment was clean with no stains in sight. I was taken by the ambience as I stood on the balcony and noticed the woodsy and serene vibe. I'm pleased overall by my experience with management at Cesar Commons; from my initial inquiry regarding the apartment to the day I moved I moved in. Vanessa is well informed and efficient and it's easy to tell she takes pride in the role she plays in making tenants feel at home. I would highly recommend Cedar Commons apartments. read more

Just moved in and have been really satisfied. Well-kept grounds with solid amenities and clean apartments. Vanessa and Stephanie are really sweet and have been incredibly responsive regarding some of the small things that have come up. I've read some of the bad reviews and have a hard time believing half of it given my nothing-but-pleasant experience thus far. Talk to them for a few minutes and it's pretty apparent they take pride in both maintaining the grounds and providing a good experience. read more

Vanessa she's a great manager there. She's such a blessing to have as a manager in that apartment she helps out so much. She needs a raised for helping out a lot of people that needs help and whatever conditions were in. She's all in great attitude and great heart. I'm moving in this apartment in May 8th,2020. This is my first time renting with my fiancé. she's such an amazing woman. I could go on and on about Vanessa great personality. Apartment looks really clean in and out and peaceful here. read more

Perfect apartment for me! Located in a great area with quiet friendly neighbors. Assistant manager, Stephanie, was very informative when explaining my lease. I was also provided with a folder that was filled with great information. The manager, Vanessa, is very helpful and quick to answer any questions. Move-in date was 02-29-2020 and no issues thus far. I'm loving my cute cozy apartment. I highly recommend Commons! read more

Vanessa was an amazing person to work with in the apartment renting process. She was not only extremely helpful and knowledgeable, but very kind and upbeat in this very confusing time we are going through. I would highly recommend you checking out Cedar Commons. They have beautiful, well-kept grounds and all the amenities you will need. Very excited to becoming a part of this community. read more

If I could not give this complex a star what so ever I would do it in a heart beat. When I first moved in they made everything seem like this is going to be a good fresh start for me. DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU! Keep in mind the story I'm about to share all happened in a 4 to 5 month time span. This was only the 2nd apartment I lived in and was the most horrible experience that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Within the 1st week I had a noise complaint. A very rude old man lived below me and would complain about pretty much any noise that was made. There was even a point where he personally knocked on my door yelling at me about "stampeding elephants" in my apartment. Shortly after security arrived also yelling at me saying just because I gave my notice for moving out doesn't mean I can be as loud or crazy as I want. Which to my knowledge was none of their business and they shouldn't have had that information in the first place, That's not even the best part! A few minutes later I was outside on my balcony and the security guard was inside my downstairs neighbor's apartment having this casual conversation with him. Probably about me but I couldn't make out what was being said. What gets me is I never told either of them I was moving so clearly the front office had done so. Just like the prev reviews I had problems with a lot of things in my apartment as well. Within a week of me moving in my air conditioning went out. It was Spring at that moment so it wasn't a big deal. During this time my family suffered the loss of my grandfather, really random I know but stay with me here. So I took in two little dogs for a while still unsure of what was going to happen to them in the situation or where they were going to end up. OBVIOUSLY still being unsure in the circumstances I'm not going to pay a pet deposit when I still don't know whats going on. It's only logic. My wonderful neighbor downstairs somehow also knew that I didn't pay a pet deposit and reported me for having dogs. Along with this grumpy blonde woman who works at the front office who would personally come and check on my apartment very frequently. This is when i started to receive warning letters.Soon after I called for my air conditioning, they fixed it, The next day I had a notice on my door saying the were coming to inspect my smoke detectors I had taken down because anything you cooked would set them off! So I put them back up. A few days later maintenance shows up and this blonde woman walks in with him and a clipboard in her hand. Get this they only checked one detector! So that was all a bullshit excuse to come inside. Tells me my apartment reeks of urine and I need to fix that asap then asks me if I've had dogs here this whole time. I reply No. Which wasn't a lie but of course at that moment the dog barks and she jumps down my throat before I can even explain. Keep in mind this was all happening in front of the company I had over at the time! She tells me I can either pay a pet deposit and clean the carpet or find a new place. Infuriated given I had already explained my circumstances to them in a hand written letter I went and made this money order for the deposit anyways and I cleaned the carpets. Fast forward a week and she hands me back the deposit telling me to get rid of the dogs or I can find a new place to live. Clearly she already had her mind made up and was just harassing me from this point on. So I put in my notice and sent them a letter as to why, how I felt uncomfortable and that they will definitely be hearing from my lawyer in the future. During the next few weeks of me staying there I was dealing with security constantly knocking on my door with noise complaints harassing me. The guard even followed my friend over to the vending machine for no reason what so ever! she left my place and was walking there. He saw her walking down the stairs and followed her all the way to the machines right up next to her, looked at the sodas, glanced at her, and walked away. Which mind you is a good distance from my apartment. Many other circumstances like this occurred. Apparently they like to enforce rules that aren't on their lease like not parking backwards in your parking stall. The apartments themselves have this old moldy odor to them and I always had allergy issues. They are dim so you need to have lots of lamps. when lightbulbs go out like the prev. review stated and they don't replace them that's when the bugs really start to come out. Here's the best part! Months down the line I checked my mail today and received a letter from them which was more of a bill, of around $750. Which I had 10 days to pay or they were sending to collections. They sent it to me too late for me to pay. How convenient! They completely screwed up my rental history and now I have that in collections! I'm also in the process of finding a lawyer to rep me in a lawsuit against them so if anyone would like to be part in it, LET ME KNOW! read more

Vanessa has been a huge help while we were trying to find an apartment in Fresno. Out of all the 12 apartment complexes we called, Vanessa at Cedar Commons was the most friendly and most helpful. We really appreciate all the information she was able to give us. Vanessa was able to accommodate us to move in on a holiday weekend which we are so grateful for. Thank you so much for all your help and accommodations. read more

To begin with, this was my first apartment and cedar commons ruined it. I moved in with nothing but clothes in plans to by new furnishings. Within the first week of living there, there was a funky smell and I had found not one, but multiple maggots on my kitchen walls. I let management know, and an appointment was set to get it checked out. They visited while I was at work and left a note saying they did not find anything. A few weeks into my new home, I started noticing small bugs in drawers and in cabinets, I bought bug spray, so I sprayed only some areas I thought they would be in. Little did I know they were cockroaches and that my apartment was infested. I had to throw away ALL the food in my house and spray all the NEW furniture I had recently gotten. I let the office know immediately as I did not even want to stay in the apartment until it was bombed or sprayed and cleaned. They told me I just missed the exterminator and I would have to wait a couple of weeks. At that point I kept bugging and they kept telling me the same thing. At this time I had to go out and eat every night having to spend money on unnecessary food and so many cleaning supplies and bug spray. I couldn't cook in my apartment due to all the fumes. Each night I had to bag up items and spray them. I couldn't shower in the bathroom on top of that because of all the mold build up. And couldn't keep any towels in there as well because my towels would start smelling like mold. All in the same time of staying at a relatives house, because the fumes were too harsh to sleep through. After spraying everything and a week to go, I figure I can't keep asking people to stay with them as I wait to get an evaluation on my apartment. I had no choice but to pack and leave. Scared to bring anything with me, I had to throw out EVERY PEICE OF NEW FURNITURE and limit the things I did want to bring with me. On top of me turning in the keys and letting them know I had to leave due to unlivable circumstances, they charged me another months rent and maintenance fees that came out to almost 2 grand. I'm in debt and currently have a hole to get myself out of before I can even concider a new place. Cedar commons ruined a lot for me and I wouldn't wish that for anyone. read more

Cedar Commons is a complete joke of an apartment complex. they rent month to month so they can scam you out of your security deposit. They're definitely black widows your carpet is at least 70 years old so it's basically just dirt. Don't think this is the natural color of the carpet. Is dirt Brown cuz it's that dirty. Everyone can hear everything you do and say especially if you're upstairs. Don't think you're going to sleep in in the morning if you have a downstairs apartment. Cuz they will for sure put children upstairs and they will do jumping jacks for at least 2 hours . Then they'll start hammering on the floor God Knows Why. This is your own ceiling there hammering on. Then you'll be policed my other tenants and the security guard. Like your criminal. Although I do like Leon the security guard. But he has no idea what he's doing. He's a nice guy. Vanessa the manager ask Pleasant to your face scamming you to move in. then scams you all the way out the door to steal your security deposit. You'll get a 3 day notice at least once a month and the peek through your windows finding problems, but it is gated. but they will cut off your gate key if you accidentally parked in the wrong spot . True story. And did I mention the black widows mosquitoes huge roaches big dog poops taken on your porch, and a cigarette butts put out in the dirt next to your door. Also they offer carpet cleaning the month after they evict you! read more

This property was such a great start for my family it was our first apartment. Katie is very sweet and her staff is always helpful. Apartments could be more up to date but for the price they are very very nice. Never have had any problems with bugs or any type of pest or rodent. Maintenance has always came when I need them. Nice neighbors and very quiet. read more

We lived there for two years the only reason we left was to be closer to my work and wanting a bigger place. And honestly it was pretty great! yes the apartments are small but they are still livable. Yeah the complex is probably older (another person posted about it being outdated) but you can see them always working to make upgrades or do landscaping stuff. The office staff was amazing and always very sweet. I don't know why some people are calling them terrible. They always worked with us and if a problem arose we got it sorted out quickly and they were always professional so maybe the people complaining about them are just rude. The apartment in general was very quiet but you live next to Fresno state so sometimes you can hear the bulldog game or there was heavy traffic on game nights but it wasn't anything horrible. They also have a security guard there at night even they were very nice. All of our neighbors were so friendly and always watched out for us that was one of the many downsides about leaving . All in all it was a very good experience for us and our first home together. So thank you Cedar Commons for everything and making that special. read more

Over the past year and a half I have lost over 150lbs. I was about 375 and am now 215. I would have not chosen to live here had they not had a workout area. I moved in here a few months ago. The other day, after the staff had complained about the noise being made, the treadmill stopped working. I am probably being paranoid but I do not see this as coincidence. Even if I did, they have made no attempt to correct for the mice problem, the smoke that comes from my stove every time I turn it on, and the air conditioner turning itself on while I pay for the power. I could save $600 a month by living at the bus stop. I'm stuck to the lease for a while now, don't make the same mistake I did. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would ! The staff is extremely rude ! If they leave a note on your door and you call to ask about it they will give you attitude as if you're bugging them. Vanessa has the biggest attitude and should not working the front office at ALL ! Poor customer service and poor people skills. They act all nice and like everything will be amazing here but it's not. They do have workers out here at 6:30 A.M ! It is so loud and they get so close to your window if you're down stairs not the best thing to wake up to and you have no choice but to wake up if you can't sleep through it. They say it's clean and they never have bug complaints "as long as you're a clean person" okay well I'm extremely CLEAN and this place is infested with roaches and spiders. Like in previous reviews STAY AWAY FROM CEDAR COMMONS. DO NOT DO IT. Especially if you live down stairs you can hear EVERYTHING upstairs ! It's disturbing the things you can hear and when there is children who live above you it's even worse ! read more

Stay away from this place, they have poor customer service. The manager isn't pleasant at all, the assistant manager is better though. They will go up on rent every opportunity they get. When something breaks they will never want to fix it and then try to blame you for appliances not working. Don't waste your time with this place. read more
