I was moving out of state and needed to cancel the service because I'd no longer need it at my new place. The first time I called to cancel, I spoke to someone who seemed to be a manager, because she offered me all of these perks to stay, including a deferment of my payments until I figured out if I wanted to stay or not. I thought I was getting a deal, until a few months went by and I realized I really did not need the service and needed to cancel. I called customer service, knowing I still had 9 months left in my contract, but my equipment was paid off so it should just be an easy cancellation with an early termination fee. I was wrong. 3 hours later, 10 support agents and 4 departments later, each one repeating the same offers and not communicating between agents, even after I firmly declined them all and said I just wanted to pay the money and be done with it -- I finally was able to pay the termination fee or "buyout" fee and get off the phone. They had me on an initial wait of about 45 mins, and then each agent kept asking for the same information or just wasn't aware of what I was trying to do, and it got to the point where I realized they are trained to drag out the process. IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL WITH THEM, THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT QUICKLY IS TO ESCALATE. Do not let them have you on the phone for hours like they had me! They will have you on the phone for hours, just to submit an email cancellation request. The email you need to cancel your account is : documents@vivint.com and this is the information you need to provide or they will not respond or process the request: Name: Service Address: Service Number: Reason for Cancellation: WILL NEVER RETURN TO THAT COMPANY EVER AGAIN. The other media installers have consistent issues which makes us realize the quality Bruce put into his work. Might seem like overkill but we came to realize when the next installer we used (I was not involved in the selection process unfortunately) did not install the surge protectors and we had constant problems and several blown flatscreens.
