Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera. After interviewing 5 different photographers, we knew from our first conversation that James was the one. He is incredibly friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. We agreed to do an engagement session, 1 location for 90mins to see if we'd be comfortable working with James. It couldn't have gone better. Initially, we were a bit stiff, but James gave us tips on how to act naturally, suggested poses and hand positions that made us feel and look relaxed. The time flew by and we actually ended up going to a second location with a wardrobe change. Overall, it was about 2 hours. James did not mind at all. In fact, he probably could've gone longer if the sun hadn't set on us! Our photos were edited and received in less than 2 weeks! James was kind enough to print a large poster and sign that shipped to our house in just a few days. He price matched any package/prints from other photographers. Having gone through our engagement session seamlessly, we hired James to shoot our wedding as well. He and an assistant were on site for 10 hours, tending to our every need and keeping us on our timeline. After our planned family/wedding party photos, we hardly even noticed them working as we proceeded with wedding events. After the wedding, we received many compliments on how great James was and several guests asked for his contact information. Within a couple of days, we received a preview of about 20 photos highlighting our big day. We were thrilled! Every important moment was captured so elegantly! The full magazine of photos was available for download in about 1 month. James then worked with us to print a high quality photo book for our coffee table. Since I am pregnant and also have two boys, I wanted the photoshoot to be special by capturing our growing family. We decided on a maternity and family holiday photoshoot, which included variety of backgrounds and outfits. The next step was scheduling a in-person fitting prior yo the shoot to try on a few dresses. Sofia put together a styling sheet and provided suggestions on what to wear for my family to coordinate nicely. Sofia also provided a timeline on the day of the shoot, which was very helpful. As a busy pregnant working mom, the best thing about this entire experience was getting professional hair and makeup done at the studio! Shoutout to artist Veronica for making me feel and look my best. I have done two sunrise family photoshoots in the past, and I absolutely do not have the energy, time, or desire to get ready on my own. I also had a maternity in-studio photoshoot done last year, I had to go get makeup and hair done in two different places, then drive an hour, which by then my curls were no longer holding. Not at Sachiko Studios, they will take care of you from beginning to end, and you will feel fresh. After getting hair and makeup done, we did a quick maternity photoshoot session. My family met us at the studio and we did the holiday photoshoot. The in-studio photos of our family portraits turned out lovely. For outdoor shoot, we drove to Bradbury's Bridge, which was about 15 min away. I loved the fall and natural backdrops. Having the option of doing an outdoor photoshoot was great because it captured our active kids candidly. Nadine was so great with my kids! She was able to capture my youngest looking happy and all smiles. She rewarded my oldest for being good at following directions.

After continued attempts to get a hold of Angela via phone and emails, I finally tried TEXTING Angela in November. I was happy to see a text response from her! but then baffled when I read her message. I've attempted to post screenshots of the text exchange but it appears only a portion is posting. In summary, Angela stated she felt she was harassed by me and would not respond to my bullying tactics. Again, I was dumbfounded. Ultimately, she refused to return our $100 deposit and went silent on us again. In hindsight, I should have noticed that most of the Yelp reviews are over a year old. I don't see any recent reviews which should have been a red flag. I hope Angela is able to improve her operations and customer experience as she is clearly talented at taking beautiful photos.

BUT the administrative side and studio reliability are major issues. We actually should have seen the red flags on our very first visit when we came to book our appointment. No one was inside the studio, and another family was waiting outside. We let it go at the time, but the exact same thing happened at pickup. Since I had my baby with me and wanted to avoid driving over only to wait around, I called in advance to confirm someone was there and explicitly stated I was on my way. Yet when we arrived, the studio was locked and empty. We ended up waiting for quiet awhile for someone to show up. If staff needed to step out, basic courtesy and sound business practice dictate that you inform the customer on the phone. To top it off, no itemized receipt was provided. While the photographer did a wonderful job, the repeated unreliability and lack of consideration for customers' time mean we'll probably just go somewhere else next time.
