Today was my second visit with my wax specialist, Sara. She's warm, personable and knows her stuff. She had a shadow with her last month but today she was by herself. At both appts she did a mini consult (eyebrows) to make sure what I wanted with my shape. We have a game plan going forward to grow them out. Before and after treatment I was handed a mirror to point out areas that need attention and also to approve the final results. Waxing is not completely pain free but it's way more bearable compared to waxing at a hair salon. I typically use powder to fill in my brows. She showed me new products they offer to help with fly away hairs (eyebrow gel). They also offer baby powder and calming cream after your waxing service. After I was done, I was escorted back to the lobby to get preappointed and potentally leave gratuity. Making an appt is easy by phone or app. I purchase a service package and preappt for $$ perks. I get billed in 3 installments for Buy 9, Get 3 free...and then I'm good for the year. I get text confirmations and appt reminders. Due to covid, they prefer that you text when you arrive and wait in your car until your wax specialist is available. The facility is clean and modern. White walls/ floors with pops of red and black. Each room is similar. There is a stool, shelf and hook in the corner to place your belongings. There is a long table to lay on, with paper liner for cleanliness between clients. Even though it's a flat table, I find it relaxing to just lie back and close my eyes and get pampered.

First few times were pain-free but now that I'm +/- 100 waxes in, the sting is back. Sometimes I pre-book. Sometimes I'm a walk-in. No matter which location I visit, everyone is friendly. I had a longtime girl at CR, but she moved away. It was nice to have a rapport and she knew about products I've tried and which ones broke my out in a rash. For new girls, there is a consult on what you want done, what shape (eyebrows) are you looking for. The only other service I've had was armpit waxing. That was weird to grow out the hairs long enough. Didn't hurt as much as the face though. I can't speak for other services. I'm a visual person so I like to take pictures of where I'm planning a review. I asked the gal if I could take a picture of her room and she said no. Which is fine I guess, just left me disappointed because I wanted to share it with you here. Bummer. Rooms are air conditioned so that might be a bit chilly in the nether regions. Leather apolstered tables with paper liner to lay on... like at the doctor office, but longer to put your feet up. Pillow for head. Products set out in containers on work counter. Everything looks to be disposable and one time use. Never seen them actually clean the room but looks brand new when I'm brought back. Restrooms on site in the clinical hallway. Products on display in lobby where you can purchase if used on you that day. You can buy services a la carte for the day, or you can buy a package of services like Buy 9, Get 3 free. Your CC gets charged in 3 or so payments and that makes checkout very easy because you prepaid for them. Just need to leave a tip in cash or say to charge your CC on file.

We walked into the room and she told me to get undressed from the waist down. Other places I have gone, step out of the room and then come back. When I told her she said kind of judgy "oh well I've never heard of them." That place is also highly rated! But I decided to try a new, since this is closer to my home. When I got home, I noticed there was a little wax that had been left behind, nothing I couldn't take care of. The price was also a little more than I am used to. I was not aware of what I was getting or what was going on my skin. The massage was ok, but the spa music was playing on Sarah's phone and her phone kept buzzing, interrupting the music...not the most professional. I also did not appreciate her making comments about my body. I get it might be a cultural thing but saying I am "so skinny! You must be less than XXX pounds!" This then led to both of them needing to heat up their wax which took up more time too as the other esthetician requested some of my esthetician's wax while I awkwardly stood in the corner of the room waiting to undress. They both were very kind but it was really a let down because I was on a tight schedule today and the whole appointment took 30 minutes when it typically should take 10-15. ABOUT SERVICE: I have gotten a brazilian multiple times before at other places and have done so much research on how it is done, and the way it was being done to me was incredibly painful and caused irritation. Not only was the wax being applied while not melted enough, the esthetician was spreading the wax in all directions and lifting the stick which tugged and caused a lot of discomfort for me. She then applied a strip and pulled in all directions instead of against the grain. This caused wax to continue to stick onto my skin where she repeatedly tried to use the strip to stick and pull off wax (this caused major discomfort to me skin even after I left). After the waxing she used tweezers to get majority of the leftover hair (thankfully), but then proceeded to just put powder on my skin and said I was done. I got home with wax still sticky on my skin and discomfort when urinating and wiping even hours after the appointment. This would have been a completely different story if it was one or the other, but being late and doing an improper service really bummed me out and I hope my skin heals soon. I just really wanted good service and hope people see this and do some more research before committing!
