He also pointed out that things Corey was talking about doing such as upgrading to 200amp service weren't really necessary, while also determining by looking inside the electrical panel that my desire to make certain changes like separating rooms into their own breakers wouldn't be possible to do easily without a lot more labor and opening walls to find junction boxes. Ultimately, the other electrician gave me a better quote and was clearly more interested in getting the job, so I hired them instead. I still never ended up hearing back from Corey. Take that for what you will.

He offered a solution that would require moving a low used circuit on to another one to free up a slot for the double slot 50 Amp breaker. He suggested a certain type of charger that they install frequently. I was able to find a different brand that would work for Consumers Energy rebate.
