Their website is really informative and I found their live online support and the girls of their customer service really useful to answer my initial questions, including them emailing photos and recommendations of style. They had a real understanding of their product down to the milimeter. The delivery and set up of the dining table was equally as efficient. The quality of the oak and its treatment is excellent, and the table still looks great after regular day use and many parties.

I decided to check it out, knowing it was a pricey spot, but wanting to see firsthand what the offered. Despite there being a plethora of employees around, I couldn't get any of them to acknowledge me, make eye contact, and/or help me even though I was looking for more information. It was mid-afternoon on a weekday and the place was fairly empty of other customers. Maybe I don't "look right" to them? I dunno. But I felt very ignored and left disappointed (even though the prices made it pretty much out of our budget).

She made me believe that I negotiated with her. I asked if she takes credit cards. She said yes. I paid her. When I came home I found a tag on one of the tables which had the price for £55 and on the back £90 if both sidetables were bought together. I then went back at the store and asked for the difference to be refunded. The owner said that the £100 was for the credit card use. This was never an issue as the price was negotiated before I asked if I can pay with the credit card. It was a total fraud on the part of the owner. To justify the charge of £100 when I went back at the store, the owner said that the £90 was only for cash payments as VAT and bank charges were not included. She also tried to justify that she needed cash to pay the movers etc. Totally her matter as she run her own business. Overall, a place where no one should shop and this fraudulent owner should be held accountable for defrauding customers. I will be seeking that she refunds the £10 plus the costs of attending at her store to rectify her mistake and fraudulent action.

One item had been slightly damaged in transit but the delivery guys were apologetic and otherwise excellent. A replacement part was ordered and delivered quickly. RB is quite expensive but the designs are great and build quality is impressive compared to cheaper rivals. Another big factor for me was the peace of mind of the 10 year guarantee. I am a pretty sceptical shopper but from what I was told and experienced I am confident if something develops a fault, even in year 9, it will be put right.

Ah! Wasn't the early 90s the best!? Anyhoo, the great thing about Acne is that it's really chic/hip/trendy, but so not holier-than-thou. The staff is really cool and friendly, and won't tell you how ridiculous you look in that little leather/seersucker number you just had to try on--something says you'll be able to figure it out on your own. Even better is that they carry larger men's sizes than most British designers. Ya know, those Swedish chaps are by no means small. Venture to the next floor to find a lovely selection of youthful women's clothing, followed by jeans on the second floor (aka Acne's bread and butter), and an airy gallery with a roof garden on the top floor. If this space weren't already occupied, I'd be working on selling some vital organs to afford this little slice of real estate heaven. Yellow baby grand, Mapplethorpe books, and all.

Established in 2001, Collectif is one of Europe's leaders and originators in Vintage Reproductions. Starting off as a small shop in Camden Market, Collectif originally focused on Punk and Psychobilly styles. However, with the addition of new designers and the increased popularity of the Rockabilly scene, Collectif expanded focusing their attention on the classic looks of 1940s and 50s( and 60s) and saw the opportunity to reproduce Vintage fashions for the modern woman. Their designs cater and fit all shapes and sizes from petite to those with curves, and their range of Collectif models reflect this. In other words they "compliment and celebrate the female form."

Despite the occasional gem from the seventies Boutique Movement to be found by the likes of Biba and Jean Varon, Stromboli's Circus lacks in its sartorial focus what it makes up for with its sometimes brilliant homewares. I'll forever regret not snapping up a strawberry icecream coloured fifties glass chandelier I spotted at Stromboli's last year, a relative snip at £150 considering you'd pay more like £250 at one of East London's vintage boutiques. This is Stromboli's strength and I'd recommend regular visits to find the best pieces. That said, prices for clothing and accessories can be on the silly side. I spotted a pair of eighties snakeskin courts at £120 which would retail at nearer £45 in even Blondie, East London's chicest vintage boutique. Central London is probably not the most economical place to find your vintage but if you do happen to find yourself on Carnaby Street Stromboli's Circus is, if not 'The Greatest Shop on Earth' then nothing if not an experience.
