I walked into this store after seeing two side tables in the window. They were both priced at £55 each. I asked the owner how much they would be if I buy them both. She said £100. She made me believe that I negotiated with her. I asked if she takes credit cards. She said yes. I paid her. When I came home I found a tag on one of the tables which had the price for £55 and on the back £90 if both sidetables were bought together. I then went back at the store and asked for the difference to be refunded. The owner said that the £100 was for the credit card use. This was never an issue as the price was negotiated before I asked if I can pay with the credit card. It was a total fraud on the part of the owner. To justify the charge of £100 when I went back at the store, the owner said that the £90 was only for cash payments as VAT and bank charges were not included. She also tried to justify that she needed cash to pay the movers etc. Totally her matter as she run her own business. Overall, a place where no one should shop and this fraudulent owner should be held accountable for defrauding customers. I will be seeking that she refunds the £10 plus the costs of attending at her store to rectify her mistake and fraudulent action. read more

LOVE this shop! Stopped in while visiting from Boston and found a pair of beautiful lamps and a wonderful iron bench for my garden. The manager took care of having everything shipped to the States and it arrived before I even got back, in perfect condition. I also bought a vintage hat (because it was the U.K. and you must have a proper hat while there!). This will definitely be on my list of "must stops" in the future along with Books for Cooks and The Spice Shop! read more

Buyers beware. I purchased a chest of drawers from ebay from these people. They sent me a totally different item that was scratched and damaged. They refuse to collect it and refund my purchase price and courier costs which I paid to have it collected. Do not buy from these unless you are standing in the shop and you can see what you are buying. Otherwise they will rip you off with rubbish. read more

My favorite shop in Battersea which has pretty much furnished my entire flat. The stock changes daily and is an eclectic mix of house clearance, architectural salvage and pieces the lovely owner Julie has spotted. I honestly have never had the experience the other reviewers have described she has been so accommodating and fair and even let me paint a desk in the back to avoid getting paint all over my flat and frequently taken things back when I have misjudged size! If you are looking for original lovely pieces at a VERY fair price then this is your place. read more

Be warned do not even enter this shop . I bought an iron bench for the garden and within a few days it stared to rust , or should i say that red patches started to appear . I made a phone call and the shop assistant was very help full but the manger had a chip on her shoulder from the start , I paid for the bench to be delivered to me , due to the fact the manger was going away I either brought the bench back my self or waited until she came back , I waited . When the manger Julie did come back she came to collect the bench , when she arrived she was not happy and I did explain that we were having building work done in and out side the house and to excuse the mess , when she looked the bench she said there was nothing wrong with it and she would re sell it , the bench was a total mess rust on the legs and on the seat she must be blind . I was told to call her after 4 pm the following day to get a refund I was also told at first on the phone she would refund the £10 charge for delivery , she was now not going to do that as a far a she was concerned i had to many things in my garden and need to get rid off it , who the hell is she to pass judgement on work being done in my home or the state of it . Finally she agreed to refund all my money which I will check with the bank , but the woman has no manners she has even told me never to return to her store , well to be honest with the crap she is selling and the no people skills why the hell would I return and waste my money , god knows how she is still in business , happy to take your money not happy to refund . I spent over £500 at this shop and, quite frankly, have never ever received such appalling customer care from a store in my life. Although I love the 'look' of the goods, the owner Julie Rumble's rude and substandard customer care attitude, mean I would never ever buy anything from here again and would not recommend others to do so. I bought, what I now know to be, a very overpriced and unusable chest of drawers which was fit for nothing else but a scrap yard. I was initially pleased with the chest on delivery however, within just 2 weeks, major parts of the decoraritive front and edges and insides just crumbled away, the paint lifted and severely bubbled on the top and the sides and, worse of all, the top side of the chest grew very noticeable damp patches and dark spots of mould! It looked horrendous and I was really upset to have spent such a lot of money on something that I could have collected from the local skip and wacked a load of cheap emulsion on myself. It had clearly been left outside and had not been cared for for quite some time. Further, it stank of emulsion when it was delivered and so I have no doubt that the mould was just covered up with another lick of paint for sales purposes. It hadn't even been sealed or properly finished hence the bubbling. Of course, after just two weeks of owning the chest I could no longer accept its condition and I contacted the owner, Julie Rumble, to see what she could recommend, only to be told that it 'was my fault' even though I had pictures to prove the damage and even though she could not explain how I could cause rot / mould to form on a piece of furniture in the middle of the summer and in just two weeks! I was very rudely told that I could absolutely not have a refund as I had waited too long to contact her (even though these are my statutory rights). Eventually after weeks and weeks of back and forth (and on one occasion she actually said I should just sell it onto someone on ebay!), she eventually said that I could have a replacement however I would have to pay £75 for the delivery of a replacement even though I had paid her £75 for delivery only 2 weeks earlier. Unbelievably, I just gave up on her and on my argument as I couldn't stand to deal with such a mean spirited person. I am still stuck with the dreaded thing ! Warning: New Vintage just patch together old rotten furniture / paint goods with thick emulsion to look good enough to sell in a shop and charge an extortionate price to gullible buyers such as myself. read more
