Stonehouse and Barker is by far the absolute WORSE organisation to buy anything from. I had to give one star simply to get this review on, however they are far from even worth this. Stay clear from this place.
I ordered a chair. ONE chair. I had called up the Battersea shop and was told there was none in the store and I would need to order it. Fair enough.
I proceed to order it and had requested to be delivered to the store. Upon purchasing it, a notice came straight after say it was in store and ready to be picked up. It was a bit of a surprised as the women on the phone they had none in stock. As I was in worked, I called the next day to confirm.
I spoke to a lady over the phone who was clueless and uneducated in regards to her own stock in the store. She said she would find out and call me back. No call ever came.
I waited a day and called AGAIN. Why, why, why must a customer chase?? I think businesses forget without customers, there is no business, no salaries, no job. Value your customers!!
With this call, another women I spoke to said my chair was being shipped from Middlesborough to Croydon and would be in the Croydon warehouse shortly. At this point she should have even offer to suggest I could pick up from Croydon.
So this is 3 days in.
Two days later I called and asked where the chair was. Why does it take over 5 days to come in? I think Storehouse and Barker might learn some tips from John Lewis, as they deliver within 5 days. Again it was me chasing.....At this point I was feed up and asked the lady to get the manager. Manager not in. Asked for her to call me on my LANDLINE. Next day the Manager called the MOBILE. Communication fail all over Stone house and Barker.
On Monday picking up the phone AGAIN I spoke to a lady on the phone and asking where my chair was. At this point my chair had been in transfer for 11 days! ONE chair, not even Southeast Asia we are talking UK delivery here. I was appalled and asked what sort of compensation would be offered. The lady went back and forth on the phone with me as she seemed to be the messenger because the manager had no manners to simply come to the phone to discuss. By the end of the conversation, mercy me ( god forbid she has to discuss the matter with a customer), the manager finally came to the phone, offered me a gift certificate of £20.00 in the store for the mishap. I said to her I will never shop in your store again. Please simply send me a return of £20.00 back on my card for the chair. She mentioned then the chair would be in the store the next day. Finally some sort of progress.
I went into the store only to find a damage and mislead coloured chair I ordered the Whinfell BROWN chair. It was ASH nothing like the picture and completely misleading. It was dented and scratched. I was furious after waiting such a long period. The in store manager was as impolite saying he was unable to see the colour difference. Time for spec savers buddy.
I was told the online website service was a totally different department than the store and I was to write and let them know I have left the chair in the store. I have written to them twice now with no response on their end. I will have to call AGAIN and chase AGAIN!
Do me a favour to who ever see this review from Stonehouse and Barker don't apologise, don't even say sorry- because you had many opportunities to fix it. Simply take the information above and all the other unhappy customer reviews and better yourselves. In a market where there is unlimited furniture stores if one does not value their customers and ensure they have the best customer service they shut down because the business dries up. We have completed an 2 floor extension and am in need of vast amount of furniture with an endless budget which I will be taking my business and spending my money in a store which values me and takes the time to ensure a smooth customer service experience.
For future customers going to this store, if you still dare visit Stonehouse and Barker after the above review be prepared for the challenges ahead and my suggestion head to John Lewis, Dwell or any other furniture shop where you may be treated with more respect and kindness. read more
