It boasts being recognized in the top 100 restaurants by the New York Sunday Times and is in the Michelin guide. Quite possibly one of the most cozy, welcoming places one could find off the beaten path in Ireland. Gorgeous, old-world interior with wood stoves and fireplaces in every room, deep padded armchairs you can lose yourself in. Sink into one of these, accompanied by an excellent cup of tea, crusty buttery croissant with fresh made grass-fed cow cream and admire tons of fun little Tchotchkes and handmade crafts, many of which are for sale. Attentive and smiley staff to boot. A pleasant repaste for a lazy weekend morning!

We stopped in here by chance while passing through Roundwood yesterday. What a fantastic place!!…read more Roan, the chief bartender, brings passion and creativity to his cocktails. I came in thirsting wildly for a Guinness, but when I saw him meticulously preparing a Whiskey Sour with his own special touches, I pivoted to that. Just like my wife's "White Linen", we could not have been happier with our cocktails! Also, it just so happened that Wednesdays are "Pizza Night" so we went to the pizzeria/mini grocer connected to The Coach House and ordered our fresh, delicious, pizzas that were delivered to us back at the bar. The Coach House has several different eating rooms, each with its own look and feel. We were very comfortable just eating at the bar and picking Roan's brain for his secret cocktail recipes!!

The dark wood table tops and cast iron bases just make me feel grounded. One of the hosts asked if I had a reservation, and I was almost sad because I didn't expect it. She was kind enough to seat me anyway. I don't know her name, but she was lovely, golden hair, and bright green glasses! I was served by Avinash, who had a warm demeanor. My phone was about 20% and he kindly let me charge it; hence why I do not have any photos of the meal :) at the end of the meal, when I asked for an espresso, Avi came back with my phone as well-- a nice touch of remembrance. I had the slow cooked lamb leg, with potatoes, carrots, and rosemary stuffing with a balsamic mint sauce. It was divine. It was my first meal of the day, and I savored every last bite. The atmosphere was just what I needed. 5/5 would return. And did yall know they got first editions of Bam Stoker, Oscar Wilde, and James Joyce??? Sheeesh.

This was a sizable restaurant with an large outdoor seating area. Inside was nicely decorated and busy. I ordered the Seafood chowder that was thick, hot and with nice spice. After two mouthfuls the Corned Beef Rueben came out which made for a difficult decision to eat what first. The corned beef Rueben was ok, not as good as The Temple bar, too dry and a far 10th to my own juicy corned beef. While waiting for the check, I headed to the head to wash up and upon arrival back, my remaining beer was gone and table cleared as they thought I left. I Paid the bill and on my way. Place seems like a great place To hang outside during warmer weather although it seemed the staff was short handed.

All food was prepared nicely and a good amount of food is provided. I got the fries as a side and they were fine. We ate outside and it was very nice. My family and I just ate at the Ashford House...en route back to Dublin…read more The old fashioneds were very good and Viktor, the bartender working, made sure to ask if we liked them knowing we were from the States. We had to try the Margherita pizza (bc that's just what we do) and it did not disappoint! Lorenzo, from Rome, did a great job. The crust was clearly wood fired and the sauce to cheese ratio was spot on. We had the fish and chips, the steak sandwich and the tikka masala curry. I had been trying to find a chance all week to grab some fish and chips and was unable to. I'm glad I had to wait because the Ashford House had the crispiest yet lightest fish and chips! The steak sandwich was ordered medium rare...Americans remember? It was cooked perfectly which was an amazing surprise. My brother's tikka masala was completely gone...meaning it was delicious. The food was presented gorgeously as well. The restaurant itself was beautifully appointed and I'm saying that as an interior designer! The bathrooms were updated and super clean. The atmosphere was really nice with just the right amount of lighting, a beautiful bar and very comfortable furniture. Our service was delightful and our server was very down to earth, easy to talk to and was able to make recommendations. We will definitely be back! Thank you Ashford House.
