We were lucky to sit both times at a corner booth with spectacular views of the river. Service was a bit slow, but that didn't bother us. I asked for my toddler's dinner first and they brought it within minutes. The rooms were also great. Not fancy, per se, but charming and cozy. The in-room radiators are adjustable and worked great. They had a cot (crib) set up for us in the room when we arrived. Both rooms overlooked the quaint street. It is a bit noisy until the bar closes at midnight, but it's a tavern after all. It really didn't bother us and everyone (toddler included) slept great. I'm so glad we weren't dissuaded by the other reviews for this place. We really loved our stay here! My parents are still raving about it. I would recommend it to anyone.

As the only pub now in Ashford, it attracts everyone and they are very nice and friendly to everyone. It once had a rough reputation but that is certainly not the case anymore. It is the kind of place everyone is welcome and made to feel comfortable but not pretentious and can be said a real Ashford pub. Very worth the visit.

I had been trying to find a chance all week to grab some fish and chips and was unable to. I'm glad I had to wait because the Ashford House had the crispiest yet lightest fish and chips! The steak sandwich was ordered medium rare...Americans remember? It was cooked perfectly which was an amazing surprise. My brother's tikka masala was completely gone...meaning it was delicious. The food was presented gorgeously as well. The restaurant itself was beautifully appointed and I'm saying that as an interior designer! The bathrooms were updated and super clean. The atmosphere was really nice with just the right amount of lighting, a beautiful bar and very comfortable furniture.
