This was my first time trying Puerto Rican food! We did the breakfast/brunch in plate. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the smash plantain. The egg was too overcooked for me. I got beef as my choice of protein and really liked how they seasoned it. They also made fresh limeonade which I love because I love limes. A good way to help cut the greasiness of the food. Portion sizes are great. I didn't finish so took my food to-go and ate the rest later. Service was pretty good. I didn't see any prices or menu when I went inside so didn't know how much everything was until they rung me up. I would say it is a fair price for what you get. I have lived in this city my entire life and I am Puerto Rican although I look like a gringa. I only speak English because I live in America and that's the first language but I went there and got treated like I was the Foreigner... A gentleman for me order the exact same thing as I did but paid $4 less.. food was great but they are totally racist. I even tried to ignore it and smile and be friendly and they still treated me and looked at me like will you please just get out of here crazy and within the last couple of days.. changed the name to El barrio or something like that but it's still the same people and the same owners so unless you Dominican you're not going to be welcome there so I'll hold on to my money and spend it at Gomez Bodega down the street where everyone there is Dominican and they know that I'm Puerto Rican and even though we don't speak the same language I get respected there at least... Fresh eggs, bacon cooked and not greasy, and a good cup of coffee. The place is very, very clean. The only problem I had was the music was too loud, we almost walked out, but we were hungry. We will definitely go back, but not when the music is on. read more

I have mix feeling from this place! The first tome I tried the food was not really impress, but I came in the second ( something I rarely do) and tried their breakfast and the owner and staff were very nice! They do have a mixture of Spanish food to American food. I would say give it a shot, it might just surprise you. read more

Consistently good Dominican food. Since they've moved to their new location, they get super busy. Call ahead or deliver to avoid wait times.

The food is hit or miss , sometimes good sometimes its old. I will not be returning after today. A tall older woman with very short grey hair treated my 16 year old daughter soooo rudly. We are latino but my kids dont speak spanish. The woman treated her really bad because she was annoyed that my daughter was speaking in english; another customer actually felt bad and apologized to my daughter, stating if he had known, he would of ordered for her. I find it hypocritical of some latinos (who only speak spanish ) to not want to help someone (another latino) who only speaks english. Keep your old food... read more

First time coming to the new location and not impressed! My husband and I ordered a combo of rice, beans and oven roasted chicken for 2. When the waitress bought it the portion for 2 is very small on top of that bought the wrong chicken. Mind you for us to order we had to go to the counter because the server was no where in sight. We also requested a side salad and it never came. When it was time to pay once again we had to go to the counter, $24 to pricey! Not worth it! The chicken was cold and like I said portion is very small for 2 people. Think about lowering your prices or make your portions bigger. Also get staff that are more attentive to the guest. read more

The worst customer service experience ever . The menu has a small and large potatoes salad but in fact they only have 1 size . When I place my order for deliver she was rushing me off the phone , after I gave her my credit card payment she wanted to click on me without even taking down my address . After all that she wrote down the wrong address because she wasn't paying attention to me because she was too busy trying to get me off the phone . The food of this place is incredibly delicious. I always order Churrasco or pechuga a la plancha and it's always on point. These guys are always consistently good. EDIT 11/17/2017: I still love this place, I really do. However, when you've ordered as often as I have you know when you're getting fleeced on the meat portions. It's frustrating to pay more then receive 25% up to half less of what you used to get. Makes me sad read more

The food is amazing but the customer service is atrocious. They try to do too much at once I understand lunch is rush hour but the packing is messy. We have given this place two chances in the last six months to impress us since it took over from where Charlie's left off. Honestly, one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had! The woman at the griddle would not give us a straight answer when we asked if they were still open (it was 1 pm on a Sunday and the place was empty) and seemed very perturbed that we wanted to order breakfast. She continued to mumble under her breath, refused to give us the time of day, and we even had to shout our orders to her over the counter because she refused to come to our table to place our order. There was no cream for the coffee, and when we requested some she handed us a warm, half-used creamer carafe that was left behind from a table that had just left! The food was nothing to write home about, and just really sloppy and pretty bland. Considering there was at least 5 workers behind the counter and in the kitchen while we sat there, I expected a little better customer service. Maybe the Dominican food behind the counter is better - a few customers came in and ordered this as takeout while we were there - but we're disappointed enough (especially since Charlie's was so great - good food and great service) that we will not be back to try it. read more

This is a NEW OWNERSHIP it's very clean this is why I give it a 2 star, okay so this is how my morning began we walked in sat at a booth no one cam over until 20 minutes later asked us what we would like to drink we said coffee well we didn't get it until 15 min later!! There is no napkins, no sugar no cream. This place is so DISORGANIZED the waitress don't know what they are doing. We sat there and sat there and sat there and we didn't get anything. An older couple came in asked for decaf coffee they got regular coffee I seen the server pour the coffee into the cups and placed them back on top of coffee maker??? Waiting for who??? You can't serve that! They still didn't get coffee. And by the way our order has not been taken yet! We had enough and my husband paid for the coffee no one knew how much was the coffee we literally could have walked out without paying easy....but we are not that kind of people. We waited and paid and walked out went somewhere else for our breakfast. A little advise organize your crew and remember customer pay bills and come back!!! But we will NOT COME BACK. Worst eatery experience I've ever had. A weekday, 11am. As we walked in none of the folks behind the counter (about 7 people) would make eye contact with us. Only one other customer in the place. Seated ourselves. We were told they had no home fries and no french fries. On the menu under Greek Specialties is chicken or beef gyros. Do they use tzatziki sauce? "No, we use ranch dressing." SO glad we asked. Our party ordered two omelets and a chicken salad platter with bacon strips. Now things won't stop going wrong - we ordered hot tea. We were brought green tea with pomegranate tea bags. What? "May I have just regular black tea, please?" Nope, this is all they have. 10 minutes later the first omelet came out. Dry toast, no butter, no jelly. Our jelly packet dispenser on our table is empty. We give it to the server and the correct response would be to bring it back full, right? Wrong. We never saw it again. 6 or 7 minutes later the second omelet comes out. "I'll check on your salad" we're told. 15 minutes later a plate of salad with strips of thin-as-shoe leather dried, tough chicken and chopped up bacon on it is brought. Person 1 is already done with their meal. Person 2 is just about done. Do these people know that it is right and correct for ALL THE FOOD to be brought out at once? What kind of joke is this place? We ask for butter, jelly and dressing for the salad. Why do we have to ask for this stuff? 5 minutes later those things are brought over, too late to be of use to the toast-eaters at our booth. When ordering, the chicken salad platter was pointed to on the menu; it wasn't just a verbal request. They have NO IDEA what that menu item is. Chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad...pretty standard fare and they are clueless. Person 3 ate alone as the others sat and watched. Oil and vinegar were on the table and the interior of the vinegar bottle was coated with a white, thick film. Disgusting. The salt came pouring out of the salt shaker because the salt crystals are too fine to be used in a shaker. Fine crystal salt is for cooking, not salt shakers! Wrong product in the wrong applicator. For every single request we had to get someone's attention! No one was pro-active in serving us. We think the misery is over but no one is bringing the check. We go to the cash register and ask to pay. They mention a total and it sounds high, where is the check for me to see?!? THEN they print a check and sure enough, it's wrong. And did they try to make amends for one third of the breakfast meals (no homefries) being absent? No! Still charged full price for the omelet meals. This establishment is one more thing in Lawrence the D*******n's have RUINED. We miss you, Charlie's Diner! The current owners aught to be ashamed and we will spread the news to STAY AWAY. There is nothing to recommend this place. Zero stars is what they deserve. read more
