My daughter suggested the lamb meatball and they were absolutely delicious. I wish you got more than two. The brown rice was good. Tried the black lentils for the first time which I like, although they were a little too hard for my taste. I also had what I thought were regular sweet potatoes but once I took a bite I realized they were Japanese sweet potatoes which I love. And the pita chips, wow! Delicious. I got the original and they were so flavorful and crispy. The pita bread that came with my bowl was delicious too. The price was fair for everything I got. I wanted to add some avocados but you know how avocados get when the air hits them and unfortunately makes them unappealing to the eyes. On the service side the staff was pleasant but when I mentioned it was my first visit, I was a disappointed that no one offered to walk me through how everything worked. I didn't want to assume. Nor did they ask what I might enjoy in order to make recommendations. They missed that opportunity. I love me some Cava. This CAVA gets packed at lunch, but somehow I've never had trouble finding a parking spot (even though the lot looks tiny). I usually grab one of the signature bowls. They make it so easy, and every single one I've tried has been fresh, colorful, and full of flavor. Now I'm craving one again. haha The drink options are such a win too! That cucumber drink? Dreamy. I chose the fire roasted corn, tomato & onion, pita crisps, shredded romaine lettuce, and the pita crisps. I then topped it off with the lemon herb tahini dressing. The new Shawarma Chicken is extremely tender and almost too juicy, lol. They make sure to not scrimp on the meat, so I come away with a satisfying meal. I believe the pickles, pickled onions, and vinaigrette dressing aids digestion. I personally like my dressing(s) on the side so I can control the amount. I can't tolerate carbonated drinks, so I love that they have multiple non-carbonated options. Cucumber Mint Lime is my favorite! Dinning area was dirt, floor and tables. Every table top had food and smears on it. The floor was littered with food and discarded napkins etc. The food servers were friendly, however they did not have many of the toppings available. Ordered a meatball pita... no meatballs. Yum! I'm still dreaming about the last dish I had here. CAVA is a casual Mediterranean restaurant where you can order pre set bowls/wraps or create your own bowls assembly line style. It's similar to poke or build your own burrito bowl places. I've only ever done the build your own bowl option, and the bowls I've had were delicious! I tried the harissa chicken and the grilled chicken, and while the harissa version had slightly more flavor, the rest of the bowl was so flavorful it honestly didn't make a huge difference. I liked the super greens mix, but be aware there are some crunchier things in there like raw Brussels sprouts slices. The saffron rice didn't have much saffron flavor to me but was cooked well. The eggplant, crazy feta, hummus, and harissa were all yummy. My favorites were the eggplant and crazy feta! The toppings all tasted fresh, and they had a nice variety. I appreciated that they were generous with the toppings too! The side of free pita bread was a bit small but did the job. My favorite out of the dressings I tried was the Greek vinaigrette. The bowls are reasonably priced, and the employees at this location were very friendly. Move over Zoe's! There's a new Mediterranean spot taking over! CAVA Group which owns CAVA (obvi) and Zoe's has started flipping some of the Zoe's locations into CAVA. It appears that the CAVA takeover is happening in the suburbs so if you need a Zoe's fix, you'll have to go inside the Loop. My mom told me about CAVA awhile back. I didn't realize it was a chain. When I saw that Pearland was getting one, I was intrigued. I stopped in today to pick up lunch to go. The moment I stepped inside, it smelled so good! I explained that it was my first time. The young man who started my order was really nice and explained the options. You can do the build your own bowl or pita; or you can do a bowl with predetermined ingredients. It's a similar set up to Salata where you go down the line and pick your ingredients. I opted for the build your own bowl. You can do grains, salad, or grains and greens. I opted for grains and did a mix of saffron basmati rice and brown basmati rice. I had the option to add a piece of complimentary pita bread which I did. Other ingredients that I added: regular chicken, hummus, tzatziki, tomatoes & onion, tomato & cucumber, Persian cucumbers, cabbage slaw, Greek vinaigrette, and garlic. The bowl came to about $10. The young lady who checked me out was very sweet! As they were building the bowl, it didn't look like that large or a portion, but when I got home, I wasn't able to finish it! The flavors are so good!! That tzatziki is amazing!! The tomatoes and onions are delicious! The pita bread is on point! All of it is so good! I texted my mom to tell her how much I liked it, so you know it's good. My only complaint is that some of my chicken had gristle which I hate, but I'm not holding it against them. They have to go parking up front and on the side. The restaurant is sort of tucked into a corner of the parking lot at the corner of Broadway and Kirby. Unfortunately, there is not direct access from 518 or Kirby. You have to turn in and sort of weave your way through the parking lot to get to it. First time trying CAVA on a Tuesday afternoon. My friend suggested this place to me and we came together. She helped me order and got really excited with all the options there were available. I got free pita on the side with corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more vegetables. By the time I got to the end, I picked a lot of different sauces and variations on the bowl. I got the cucumber mint drink, a fork, then sat down with my friend. When I took the first bite, oh my gosh. My tastebuds exploded. I mean this was SO GOOD. I have had Mediterranean food before, but this was just as good or more. The best way to explain this place is like Chipotle, but Mediterranean food. The seating areas remind me a lot like Chipotle where you have seating outside or inside. Also, very clean environment. For the prices, I feel like it's more affordable than Chipotle. This relatively new restaurant is located in the former location of Zoe's Kitch. Cava is all about healthy Mediterranean food. It's Chipotle-style so you choose what you want when you order and they make it for you right then and there.
