We went to Cattle Baron for dinner and oh my! The steaks were not good. All 4 of us ordered it and none of us enjoyed it. The sides were fine. The salad bar was ok. Not many options. The salad bar at kbobs is much better. We ordered 2 old fashions. They were odd. The margarita was fine but definitely not great. The waiter was very nice. There were only 3 other people there and it was very quiet. No music. We heard a cook sneeze and we told him bless you. It was a very awkward situation. Would not recommend. Will not return. Just had Mother's Day Dinner here and it was terrible. Neither steak was cooked to order. Manager brought out the re-cook, no apologies and no sides. Apparently if you ask them to cook your order the way you order it you lose the sides. Didnt remove the used plates and the ice and water tastes like dirt. Ordered the grilled sourdough jack which is our go to back home in El Paso. Not good here though. They brought it out on white bread, not grilled and a few fries that looked like they had been sitting under a heating lamp. The whole restaurant looks dated. The place was neat, the staff friendly, the salad bar stuffed. Oh, that salad bar is phenomenal. Such variety! I had that night's feature, manhattan cut 10 oz with baked potato, loaded no bacon. My wife and I and a friend stopped in for a drink and have an appetizer about 4:00. My wife is the youngest of the three of us at 77. I understand not wanting to serve underage people, but we are all 50 years above that. I had all three of our IDs on my phone, however my wife's DL had expired. They would not serve my wife, unless we went to the car and got her purse with the current DL. I am a disabled Vietnam veteran, but was forced to go get the DL. I am trying to logically understand WHY?? What moran decided this?? My son and I went here for Mothers Day lunch and the atmosphere was very nice. We were greeted immediately and luckily got seated right away. The salad bar was fresh and a huge variety of vegetables, pastas, fruit to choose from. The steak (Ribeye) I ordered was just okay I mean it wasn't bad but not great either. It was pretty dry and not a lot of flavor. My son did enjoy the ribs he ordered. The waiter was great. I definitely would give this place an another try and maybe order something different. As high as Texas Club and not comparable. Son got catfish. It was like 16$ for one piece of fish and one side and 4-5$ for one trip salad bar. It was 13$ for salad bar and it's not as good as it used to be. No more cheese bricks, some of the salads went away like Waldorf. Dressing is different. Just disappointed as that was my fave thing. Of note, it's been closed for several years and multiple people who were still hired there stated on Facebook that they were doing massive renovations (good. It hasn't changed in 20 or more years).
