Service! Worst experience in a long time! What a joke. Sunday night called an order for a green back burger, to be told that's not on the menu any more, ok I'll build my own. Menu changes. I ordered a 1/2 dozen wings from appetizers, and finally I ordered a basket of fries. We don't have baskets of fries the menu has changed so you want 2 sides of fries? One side of fries and one side on onion rings. I placed my order over the phone ordering from their website that doesn't mention or show new menu. I ordered the food at 6:38 pm. I was told 10-15 minutes. I arrived and paid $41.38 plus tip at6:52 pm. And was told to sit and wait. I mentioned I'd stand which got me a lesson on bar space for waitresses, and not to block it, so I sat down. What attitude. At 7:15 I asked how much longer, and she said it's not done yet. I said I want my money refunded and I'll go somewhere else. She said she wasn't authorized to give refunds, she had to get manager. 7:22 she comes out rummages thru cash door, has to ask me what the name on the order was, then removes the receipt hands it to me and says it's been refunded. I asked for a receipt showing the $ was refunded she said no. Baby I know business was pretty rough over the holiday weekend. I know you aren't the cook, but realize this. I'm al local. Was really disappointed in our supper here. The Buffalo Blue Cheese Chicken was disgusting, the chicken had fat and was spongy and smothered in sauce and cheese and cool to touch. We had two separate order of sweet potato fries, one was good other was the older ones, cold and soggy. Kids Mac a cheese was still partially frozen, they re-heated, but that tells you the quality of food they serve. Best thing was fried jalapeños and the ranch dressing. My friend and I embarked on a green chile cheeseburger tour this past week. Our mission was to find the best green chile cheeseburger in the great state of New Mexico. We went to 11 different places and here are the results. Anaheim Jacks ranked #11 out of 11. We stopped here and ordered a "Green Back". Paid the lady our money and she said it would be about 15 minutes. We hung outside and waited until it was ready. We took the burger to our car and dug in. Here is how it was.......... The Green Back- This burger was just ok. It did have a good bun, but the rest of it was pretty average. The cheese was melted almost too much, kind of had a cheesesteak type texture/consistency to it. The green chiles were really skimp, too (hardly noticed they were they, honestly). The patty itself was ok, a tad dry. Produce was a thin layer of everything. Overall, didn't hate it, but definitely wouldn't come back for another. We both agreed that this was our least favorite burger of the trip. Once again, not a "bad" burger at all, just that all the other ones we had across the state were a little bit better. If I lived in town, I would be back to try out other stuff, but wouldn't specifically stop here or order the Green Back again. read more

But I know when to make an exception and Anaheim Jack's is one. The sidekicks are cheap and huge. We got the fried okra and thought the waitress had brought the basket by accident. The wings were excellent - with a tangy Asian sauce that was addictive. Once again, I don't like hamburgers with the kitchen sink thrown in, so I got the chili cheeseburger medium rare. The only time in Ruidoso that I actually got medium rare. So, I could actually taste the beef and it was very meaty. The final surprise - the salads are really good. The grilled chicken salad had large strips of juicy, flavorful grilled chicken atop fresh lettuce, cheese, bacon etc... and homemade dressing. Everything we had was great...with the exception of the "local" shrimp which were meh. And the portions are huge so come with a crowd. read more

We arrived at Anaheim Jack's around 6:45 pm on a Saturday evening and the place looked busy, but we were promptly seated outdoors. Our waiter took drink orders, and after drinks were delivered our dinner orders were taken. Then the waiting began. At one point, our waiter stopped by to say he really did put our order in. We waited some more and another person delivered our burgers and sides. The food was lukewarm, so we're thinking it sat awhile. Not good. Normally, we'd have sent it all back, but we'd spent the previous 10 hours on the road from Texas and were starving. Fortunately, the burgers tasted good even lukewarm. The fries and onion straws not so much. The fries weren't crisp or flavorful and the onion straws were greasy and not crispy. Most tables had a roll of paper towels available but I had to grab one off another table to wipe our hands because the single napkin provided wasn't enough. Burgers and fries appear to be the staple foods at Anaheim Jack's but the menu has plenty of other choices. A burger loaded with goodies but without a side will set you back about $10-12. Sides include both sweet potato and regular fries, onion straws, and other choices. Beer and wine are reasonably priced. I've given the place a 3 star rating because portions are good and the burgers were tasty...but the food should have been hot when delivered. There is simply no excuse for serving greasy lukewarm food. read more

We stopped for lunch en route to a local camp ground for the weekend. The atmosphere is a great draw, as the restaurant is nestled in the forest, surrounded by aromatic pine trees. The QR menu had a nice array of burgers and other plates. They offer burger combinations which makes it easy. I opted for the Billy the Kid burger which was yummy. The best part- they offer sweet patato fries! Overall, the place has a cottage type feel, with a full bar, the food was good and service was polite and fast. We ordered a green chili and cheese burger and tots plus a side pf okra and 1/2 order of wings. Had I known the okra side was ginormous I would have passed. The burger was great, great flavor. The wings were amazing as well, totally worth just trying wings here too. The tots were crunchy, not greasy and a ton load. The okra was perfectly done and also a giant side portion. Come with an appetite or have some food to take home. The prices are reasonable and there's plenty of parking.
