The cashiers and staff (my local heroes) are doing a great job stocking and keeping the line to pay in order . Walmart is like a magnet it will draw in customers from the worst to the best. I suggest that if you are concerned about that simply go to walmart.com and actually purchase the items online, after comparing the item with its competitors, also online, and then the store employees will put it in your cart as a completed purchase. Don't be hesitant about asking an employee for assistance or even going to Customer Service for assistance. The perennial scam in all Big Box stores is excessive returns and misuse of the self-payment registers. Be assured that all stores have the same security methods and they are quite good at catching the bad people. If you just want to walk around and shop another suggestion is to call the store and ask them if they have a specific item, and to actually hold it for you. There is an excellent free Walmart app for your smart phone to make shopping much easier by actually locating the item and current price. Walmart still has a policy of meeting the cost of all other "local" competitors with the actual flyer listing prices. The pizza and Italian-type foods are the mainstay of many college people. The owner was busy stocking shelves with fresh organic produce when I entered, but she looked up to greet me and offered help finding things if need be. A nice warm welcome. I bought maple vanilla sheep yogurt and cheese (delicious!), Del ice cream (yum!), crackers and fresh fruit. The items were well priced and local. They also have a refrigerated area with nice looking pot pies and quiches. The shelves were well stocked with breads, jams and other sundries. Roxbury really needed a store like Good Grocer NY. Opening time 8:00AM, 7 days a week. Wishing this small business all the best!

Unfortunately, since the business got sold and had a change in owners, things have gone downhill big time. The sausages are far from what they used to be. Casings are not properly closed, they don't taste the same and their Wienerle look wrinkly and outright unappetizing + they are oversmoked. Very sad to see an institution go downhill and change that quickly from being an authentic German butcher to being a subpar spot that has none of the craftsmanship and quality that they used to have.
