We were seated in about 10 minutes, which is unheard of on a night like that. The service was next level; multiple servers worked together seamlessly, making sure every table was taken care of without missing a beat. The kitchen was firing on all cylinders, pushing out food fast despite being completely packed inside and out, and everything came out hot, fresh, and perfect. They even had complimentary snacks to build your own street corn (hands down my favorite) and gave out Cinco de Mayo glasses, which was pretty cool. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place, the food, the service, the atmosphere, all of it. La Placita is the real deal. Locally owned and operated by genuinely great people, and it shows in every part of the experience. If you're looking for how a restaurant should run on its busiest day of the year, this is it.

I ordered a build a bowl type of meal with grilled chicken, cilantro lime rice, black beans, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, pico de gallo, and guacamole. My meal came with chips and queso. My bowl was excellent. The grilled chicken and all the condiments were delicious. I was surprised at how delicious my bowl was. 5/5 Dave ordered a big burrito with grilled chicken, refried beans, grilled onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pico de gallo, and guacamole. His burrito was bomb. I couldn't believe how good it tasted with everything wrapped up together. His meal came with queso and chips. 5/5 If you are looking for authentic Mexican foods you won't care for this restaurant. The vibe is Tex Mex met a chef that wants to change how Tex Mex tastes. I believe I saw a taco with pulled pork. I would return again when in the area. 5/5

The birria pizza seemed to have a decent amount of meat in it. The meat was oily to me. I have in my humble opinion enjoyed better birria and definitely better consommé. The consommé was very greasy. When I arrived home, I removed all the grease. There was only 1 small container of consommé and there needed to be at least 1 more container. Or include 1 container double the size like other Mexican restaurants do. The price was $23.98. Two birria tacos was $15. 4/5 Tbe build a bowl was good. The protein was grilled chicken. We could choose all the free ingredients we wanted like onions, cheese, lettuce, rice, charro beans and more. The price was $15.50. 4/5 Both entrees allowed for a side so we chose guacamole. The guacamole was good. We were given 2 small bags of chips and salsa. The salsa was blended and smooth versus chunky. This restaurant had a small bar. It's in a location convenient to many houses. If I am in this area again, I might stop by. The feel is more like Tex Mex versus Mexican foods to me. Overall 4/5.

A real fork would have been appreciated and I had to go in search of napkins but service was overall just fine. I really want to support this small, local cantina but I can't - my meal was awful. The beans were ok. Chips are out of a bag. Salsa is ok though nary a chunk of anything. Rice is cold. The guac has obviously sat a little too long. The failure? The El Pastor fajitas. Way too much cinnamon. Not enough other seasonings, in desperate need of salt. They are awful. I just reached to roll another tortilla but put it back. It is so bad that I can't bring myself to eat another. The people at the next table over have left the majority of their food uneaten on their trays. I shouldn't assume they share my opinion of the food but it makes me wonder. The margarita menu looks interesting and the outdoor seating is nice though the volume of the music makes it hard to carry on a conversation. It might be worth coming back if there is live music or to try the margs. Otherwise, for a meal, skip it.

Sheeesh this wasn't it for us…read more We came here last Thursday to play trivia after we missed our usual Monday night trivia engagement. We thought it might be fun to try somewhere new, but I highly doubt we'll play at this place again. Now I will say all this with the caveat that pretty much no one in our party is a huge fan of this style of Mexican food. Still, this stood out as particularly unpleasant, even to our perspective. The atmosphere is nice enough, at least; it's a very spacious restaurant with lots of seating, tall ceilings, and lots of interesting art. As others have noted, it is pretty loud inside and it can be hard to hear both waiters and others in your party. We were seated at a booth for four. Chips and salsa were forthcoming; the chips were hot and fresh and the salsa was generic but enjoyable. As is often the case, the chips and salsa were the highlight for most of us. Our waiter did not seem to speak a ton of English and either didn't understand or couldn't answer one of my mom's questions about the menu. No big deal to me or her, but something to be aware of when you visit. My mom just got cheese dip, my dad got an a la carte beef burrito and crunchy chicken taco, my friend got a beef chimichanga, and I got the chicken and vegetable plate. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My mom's cheese dip was as expected but being cheese dip it was the best thing we ate. My chicken and vegetable plate was runner up, though mostly because it too came with cheese dip. My chicken was under-seasoned and the vegetables were under-cooked and extremely crunchy. The rice was okay. My buddy who ordered the beef chimichanga did not get it. The waiter delivered a chicken chimichanga and seemed confused when my friend tried to correct the order. My friend decided it wasn't worth the battle and said he'd settle for chicken. He ultimately said the chicken was weird and very dry and he didn't enjoy it. On the bright side, they left off the $2 up-charge for a chicken chimichanga on the bill, so I guess there's that. My dad said his beef burrito had little flavor but was edible. The shredded chicken taco, he said, was totally inedible and just nasty. He didn't eat it beyond the first bite. When it came time to pay, the waiter brought out a ticket for my parents and a ticket for me and my friend, despite us asking to pay separately. My friend picked up the tab and I Venmoed him later. It was pricy, at about $25 for my entree and Diet Coke + tip. An all-around frustrating and unpleasant first (and likely last) visit here. Trivia was fun as usual, but we will stick to our Monday night haunt whenever we can.
