I think the first thing that struck me was that the deals here were better (read cheaper!!) than the Collierville Torrid store, as this store had an amazing buy one, get one free for clearance items whereas as Collierville store had buy one, get one 50% for clearance rack items. So with that kind of a discount, not only did my friend purchase 4 dresses for the price of 2, I ended up making out like a bandit too and purchased some clothes I had previously been on the fence about - but when its a BOGOF offer, that's an easy decision to make! Both our bills were right around the $100 mark (hey Torrid isn't cheap!!) but at $25 for 4 dresses, we both felt we got a great bargain! Also, just like at the Collierville store, the staff here were also so sweet and lovely!! I've noticed that in recent years the quality and styles have, in my opinion, gone downhill. What they call their "Oprah Collection" has been especially tacky...nothing like what I think Oprah would wear. Right before the stores closed due to the Corona virus, I bought a couple of things in the Germantown store using my card. Without my knowledge or permission, the sales person converted my gift card to a "store credit." I didn't realize this had happened until I tried to buy something online after all the stores were closed, and was told I had a zero balance on my gift card, which should still have had $650.00 +. After an hour and a half chatting online, I found I could not use the credit online. The person helping me finally agreed to issue a new gift card. I went to the Germantown store recently, and when I started to make a purchase using the card the sales person again wanted to convert my card to a merchandise credit. Unfortunately, I also had a disagreement with the sales person about our feelings about the Corona virus and she behaved in an extremely rude manner to me. I won't go back to the Germantown, TN, store, and I'm telling my husband not to buy me another Talbots card.

In fact, I remember when it used to be a Repp B&T & a Casual Male. When DXL took over, it got CRAZY EXPENSIVE -at least more than I want to pay for clothes. I remember once they had a selection of pocket squares for close to $100 each! (Just the hankie. No tie included!) Well, now a big guy can finally find a nice selection of designer labels (Polo Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Vineyard Vines, True Religion, etc). I've seen sizes 6X and size 60+. Personally, I can shop for my size in many department stores at much lower prices (albeit the selection is very poor elsewhere.) Clearance Back Corner: Yes, I'm the guy who starts in the back of the store and first looks for any bargains first. For the past few years, their clearance corner is pretty meager. The selection is slim and most items are only 25% off the sticker price. YUCK! Merchandise: The products are high-quality. I still wear sportcoats, slacks, jeans, etc. I purchased from DXL many years ago! Coupons: I no longer get any discounts that "wow" me or compel me to visit. I bought an adorable sundress there last week for under $50, and I've gotten tons of compliments on it. The sales clerk working there was very helpful, and not at all pushy. She helped me find my size, showed me some of the new jewelry and accessories that had just arrived and also let me know they got in new items each week. Great little store. Love it!
