We are very excited to share our Floating Window Box Catio for Zoe & Zuri. Thank you Alan's for your AMAZING creative vision along with his professional team who made our dream come true. Everyone was very talented in their craft and friendly. All materials used are of the highest standard to guarantee top notch performance. My fur babies now have exposure to fresh air, sunshine, birds, and squirrels; the catio gives them outdoor exposure that will do wonders for their mental well being! Thank you so much Custom Catios for your exceptional job! Well done! We highly recommend Custom Catios. Best regards, Joanna, Zoe (grey) & Zuri (white)

Amazing experience with Alan and his team. Super professional, clean and they really know what they are doing. Easy process to design and it came together quickly. Best money we've spent in a long time! Worth every penny. We built a large enclosure for our yorkies and ourselves now that we have mosquitoes at night. Call Alan if you are looking to protect your fur babies, he will have a solution.

WOW! WOW! MEOW!! A little background color for this post to start. My husband and I purchased our home in 2019 in NW Pasadena. We have a GORGEOUS backyard with a recently completed pool project and we have THREE amazing cats. Two of those cats want nothing more than to be outside. Living in NW Pas, that's a huge issue for us because we are deep in Coyote-country here, so needless to say, no outside kitties at this home. But alas, the problem remains, how do we let our cats live their best lives enjoying the SoCal sunshine? The solution was a no-brainer: BUILD A CATIO. My husband is a handy guy and he tinkered with some ideas on how to accomplish this but when it came down to it, neither of us was entirely comfortable with him sawing a hole into the side of our house. Some online searching and referencing of the Instagram of famed Hannah Shaw, "Kitten Lady" - we found Alan. Alan is kind, talented, professional and the best thing about Custom Catios was that they already had the know-how and the experience with catio-construction. Did I feel good about his team sawing into the side of my house...? YES! Because they are professional and they do this kind of thing. It was a fast process to get the consult and design executed. We had a brief wait to get started (this guy is popular!) and Alan stayed in communication with updates the whole time on a start-date. We were never left wondering when our project would get started. His team arrived and they were the most wonderful group of guys - courteous, professional, tidy and just all-around a delight to have at our property. Having done some recent projects on our home, we appreciated these guys all the more! The catio took only 2.5 days to complete and turned out EXACTLY as we'd wanted it. Alan kept an open line of communication from start to finish and we made some adjustments along the way to cater to our cats' specific needs. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. One of our scardy-cats doesn't have an interest in braving the outdoors but he finds delight in the shelves that lead to the cat-door while the other two cats are enjoying some mid-day sunshine in a safe environment. Why build a catio? You can actually improve your pets' quality of life while protecting our native birds and preventing your kitty from becoming a coyote meal-on-the-go. Catios aren't just for cats, you can also re-purpose a ground-level catio as a bunny run or a doggio. With the threat of coyotes and bobcats here in the foothills, I hope more folks consider building a catio in Pasadena and Altadena rather than complaining about our coyote population (they were here long before us).

A great "home addition" for my two furballs that gives me peace of mind for those times I need to go out of town while knowing they'll still get their sunshine and fresh air. My girl Glados in particular loves sunning herself out here most mornings. Simple process helping me figure out a design that worked for my needs, and the turnaround was very fast once they got to building. Thanks so much!!

We adopted Cleopatra back in August, when she was a four month old F2 Savannah kitten. Sweet, loving, playful... she was nearly perfect! The one catch... something I came to learn was called the "Zoomies"... Cleo is a Savannah, the combination of a wild Serval cat and a domestic cat. Established in 1986, Savannahs produce kittens which grow larger, weigh more and have quite a bit more energy than your typical house cat! Which brings me back to the Zoomies! I discovered that at around 11pm, 11:30 or midnight, Cleo would find her second wind, and start shooting across our bedroom at full speed, leaping onto our couch, then onto our bed, then take a quick turn and shoot into our bathroom where she would jump half way up the bathroom wall, then spring quickly in another direction, landing on the tank of our toilet! She would then quickly reverse this activity... back and forth, at full speed, at times using my resting (attempting to sleep) body as a springboard! This typically continued for between 30-45 minutes. Quite exciting the first time you witness this activity... but by the 3rd, 4th, 5th time, at midnight, while you're trying to sleep...well..... This brought me to Alan, and his fantastic company, Custom Catios. I met with Alan, and we discussed his building a Catio where Cleo could get her "Zoomies" out, outdoors! Alan really takes the cats needs into consideration, making sure the shelves, rope poles and floating steps are spaced such that the cats will get extensive exercise, leaping from shelf to shelf, climbing up the poles and ladders and just having a fantastic time! As Cleo spends her days in our upstairs bedroom, Alan needed to design a Catio which would allow her to exit from our upstairs bathroom, walk (or run) along an 8' cat run then down a 5' vertical drop with steps, leading to a bridge. Crossing the bridge, Celo enters her Catio at about 7' up in the air! Cleo utilizes the Catio night and day! I've discovered her outside at midnight, one or two in the morning, as well as during the day, checking out the birds, bugs and wild bunnies which visit our backyard! She spends hours out there at times! Everyone at Custom Catio were exemplary! Alan demonstrated his knowledge in designing a great Catio that gives the cat plenty to do and his workers were prompt and diligent, completely cleaning up the area before leaving for the night! If you have any thoughts of possibly getting your feline friend(s) a Catio, and live in the So. California area, don't hesitate to give Alan a call! You won't regret it!

Our Bengal named Benji used to be free range, but after too many confrontations with the neighbor cats, we realized he needed to come indoors. Needless to say, Benji was not happy with this development. Fortunately, my wife found Alan and Custom Catios to enclose the porch off our second floor master bedroom. Alan and his crew are top flight professionals: from the planning and vision stage, to the materials and wood staining to match the beams on our porch, to the actual construction process. Everything went smoothly and we could not be happier with the final result. Oh, and Benji loves it too!

Hanging out in the catio

After finding Custom Catios (Alan the Catio Guy) on facebook and seeing the quality of the work we were intrigued to see if we could do something for our boy Hamish. The whole process was very simple and professional. Alan came down to see the space and recommend a design, then it was a case of scheduling for the work to be done. The crew came for ~3 days and everything is made on site to the design. They were professional and did a great job cleaning up. Hamish adores his new space with its shelves, 2 types of steps and a sisal pole for him to climb. He spends a lot of time outside and is clearly having the best time out there (although he does love it best when we join him - it is big enough for us to also enjoy sitting out with him). To be clear there are probably cheaper options but this was well worth the cost for us and the quality of the work is first class.

We foster medical, hospice, and special needs cats, and we own a nonprofit cat cafe. Needless to say, we have a lot of cats. We'd been wanting to enclose a ground floor patio and second floor balcony so the cats could get fresh air and sunshine, and after seeing Alan's work online, we contacted him for an estimate. Considering the amount of labor and materials that went into our catios, the price was certainly reasonable. The crew that built our catios was top-notch. They communicated with us well, were extremely polite and personable, and put up with our dogs' barking and shenanigans. They even made a couple of Home Depot runs to make sure the paint they used matched our existing colors. At the end of each day, they packed everything away neatly. We really appreciated their hard work and expertise. The catios are spectacular! They have plenty of ledges and steps and stairs to play on. Our upstairs catio even has ramps-- a feature Alan designed to benefit our senior and blind cats. That added touch illustrates why we value this company so highly. Alan took the time to meet our cats, understand their needs, and design our catios with their challenges in mind. We look forward to adding on to our new catios in the future, and we will certainly be calling Alan and his crew when we do. From design to implementation, they delivered the best in craftsmanship and professionalism. We are very, very happy with our catios. But not nearly as happy as our cats.

Alan and his team were amazing. They made use of a limited space with lots of HOA rules and the outcome is perfect. Alan was extremely accommodating when we had multiple changes occur last second, and his team was friendly and creative in coming up with some quick solutions. I would highly recommend working with Custom Catios!

What a wonderful experience I had doing business with Alan and the crew who build my kitty cat's a beautiful custom catio! My cat's took to the new digs right away, and I can see how happy they are being 'outdoors'. I definitely recommend this business if you're on the lookout for a safe, professional grade catio that your kitties will love.

We found Alan and Custom Catios on Instagram and we were hooked. We couldn't have had a better experience getting our two furballs a new place to play! Alan came to the house and great to work with. He quoted us what would work for us and made sure we would be happy with the final project. From matching house paint colors and matching roofing shingles, our Catio looks like it was supposed to be a part of the house the whole time. The team that did the install were very friendly and were easy to work with when we couldn't be home when they were working. Now that it is finished, our cats are happy and have been loving finally getting to be outside! Thank you Alan and the whole team!!

It was a beautiful reality. Worth every $ spent making a safe and secure outdoor play space for our fur babies. They love it from top to bottom. Quality craftsmanship that blends with the house Thank you Catio team you were awesome. I can't wait to do phase 2.

Are these Catios Coyote-proof meaning coyotes can't chew through?

I just bought a condo and i only have a balcony space. By any chance how much will it cost for a small corner catio in a balcony?

I am a renter, so curious how you attach the catios to the house?

Hi, our catios are permanent so not always great for renters.

I know prices probably vary a lot depending on the size and customizations and stuff, but is there like a range they usually fall in? We're trying to figure out whether this could be feasible for us.

One main issue is he's got long hair (specifically his tail) and the B.O. of a sailor lost at sea. The first place I took him for grooming was rough. The woman I handed him to had this harsh, cold demeanor and the whole place had a tense vibe about it. My dog is already a stress ball and this didn't help. I learned about K9 Loft on a whim -- I drove by it. Place looked cool. Spacious. And moreover, the employees I spoke to were rather welcoming, nice and knowledgable. I set him for an appointment to get bathed and groomed with a woman named Vickie and I will now only take him to her. I don't know exactly what it is about her energy but Boomer seems to be more relaxed around her. For that reason alone, I bring him here. It also helps I pick him up smelling nice and looking good. Surgery day was smooth, drop off in the morning, pick up around 5pm. Cost me about 3k bc he needed so many teeth removed. The layout, décor, and overall vibe are fresh and warm. It doesn't feel like a typical vet, no sterile exam rooms or cold lighting. You wait with your pet in a private room with two comfy couches, and it actually feels calming.
