I want to start out by saying that the staff was great and had impeccable service. We showed up and…read moredidn't know we needed a reservation yet they were able to seat us with no issue. Sadly, that was where the good times ended. The decor is an eclectic mix of studio pictures from the attached photography studio. Random yet quaint. The hilarity of brown paper bags stuffed with white claws at the other tables lent a certain added character to the eatery. Certainly interesting. It is a BYOB establishment so you will be left drinking canned sodas or tea. Not a huge issue, but certainly sad. We ordered the lobster bisque as an appetizer. Fishy. I'm not afraid of fishy but I fully expect lobster to be sweet and the bisque to add a burst of creaminess. It was very obviously not fresh lobster. For entrees we ordered the lobster Mac and Cheese and the Blackened Stuffed Flounder. First, the lobster was no less fishy in the Mac and Cheese which was bland and not very flavorful. Secondly, the flounder was a huge disappointment. It wasn't blackened so didn't have that familiar character flavor profile. It was soft throughout. Like a pile of bland mush with zero flavor or texture. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't previously frozen and possible microwaved. To fail on all levels beyond the service is inexplicable. Sadly, this will not be on the rotation of wonderful restaurants to visit in the Kingwood area.

Desert- Bourbon Pecan Pie, chocolate cake with cherries. , chese. 0-10 review = 3. Nothing we ate was bad. The filets were tough and. Chewy, sauces were very off and not enjoyable. The pecan crusted chicken was dry and the sauce on top of it was too sweet The lamb chops were thoroughly enjoyed by the guest, who ate them All of the desserts could've been sent back because they just weren't any good. The ambience and atmosphere was great because you could hear each other. Talk and enjoy conversation. However, my all in all score of this restaurant is unfavorable. I won't be going back. The reviews that I have seen in the past are nowhere close to what was reality. The best thing that I ate tonight in the restaurant was the warm rolls with the butter.

I happened to be in Kingwood for my friend's engagement party and decided to stop by Cowboy Surfer…read morefor a night cap. I've been to the original location in Spring Branch, but this was my first time visiting this location. The bar is located in a shopping strip off of 59. Parking is plentiful. Unlike the original location, you do not have to scan your ID (if you've been to the Spring Branch location, then you know what I'm talking about). It was pretty early on a Saturday evening, so it wasn't terribly busy. I sat at the bar. I don't know the bartender's name that served me, but she was nice. I ordered the Kingwood which is a gin based cocktail with cucumber. The drink was fine, but it was a little tart for my preference. A splash of simple syrup would have balanced it out. I did request for it to be less spicy (it has jalapeño in it). They have live music, though when I was there, they didn't have a band playing. They serve typical bar food like burgers, salads, and nachos. The vibe wasn't quite the same as the location in Spring Branch, but it was fine. This is a nice option for craft cocktails in Kingwood.

Ambiance: 5/5 Nestled in the shopping strip center off 59 HWY from the outside it blends until you notice the sign and you see "cocktail lounge" I believe it's a first the front of Kingwood and I got excited and had to stop in. Plenty of parking and casual attire is welcome. But if you want to don your full on spurs, Stetsons and swagger or your surf threads, go right ahead! Although I'm sure shirt and shoes are required and you'll probably get cold since there is no sun or waves inside. Once inside the theme is as the name of the bar is, Cowboys and Surfers. Plenty of seating from booths, tables and bar. And there's also pool table and shuffle board. There was a live band "Pack of Strays" playing and was enjoyable. The lounge has live music on certain days and a Happy Hour everyday from 4-7, so I will have to come back to check that out. Service: 4/5 I sat at the bar and bartender didn't really engage much, though I noticed him engaging with a couple of select groups. No I wasn't on my phone when I walked in, if anything I make it a point to be mindful when entering any place as to note my surroundings and also be able to tell what the vibe is like. Though the service wasn't necessarily anything noteworthy, which attention & engagement would've made the experience/review a 5, the drinks were specially crafted which takes mindfulness to make. Food/Drinks: 4/5 Their menu has multiple options when it comes to drinks and also offer some food selections. I didn't get to try the food, but saw some items that looked interesting and want to try. They also have a list of beers and wine, so again, something for every taste. For this visit I only had two drinks. Beach Break: 4/5 with choice of Gin or Vodka (I went with gin of course) it has a refreshing taste as it is shaken with fresh cucumbers and lime juice, it also has simple syrup. It was more tart than I would think it probably was going for. I did appreciate that they didn't go heavy on the sweetness, but would've liked it with agave as the fresh ingredients would go well with it. For my next visit I will likely ask to substitute with agave as they do have it and it was in my next drink. The Kingwood: 4/5 crafted with my favorite "Hendricks gin" and named after the neighborhood we live in, this cocktail is also refreshing and enjoyed more than the Beach Break. It went down easy, bartender did ask if I was good with the jalapeño that it's muddled with and this time I opted to only have it with muddled cucumber. Again refreshing and not tart so maybe this is the alternative to Beach Break. It is made with topo chico and Tajín rim. Overall it is a laid back environment, live music and the drink options are promising, it's a cocktail shop (candy shop). If you live in the area or find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and come kick up your boots and hang ten.

A worker brought out chips and sauce a few minutes later. I ended up ordering the enchiladas Verde and they were excellent. The chicken tasted fresh and the green sauce homemade. When we politely asked if we could switch tables, she rolled her eyes, walked away without saying anything, and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. Unfortunately, our server, Filiberto, was no better. Throughout the meal, he repeatedly forgot basic items like our water, tortillas, and napkins--even after we reminded him more than once. For most of the meal, he was nowhere to be found, leaving us waiting for long periods whenever we needed anything. Good food can make up for a lot, but poor service from both the hostess and our waiter completely overshadowed the experience. We left feeling unwelcome and frustrated. Hopefully management addresses these issues, because no customer should be treated this way. Honestly, the hostess Brooklyn was the biggest disappointment. She walked everyone to their tables with a glare the entire evening and just looked miserable. She shouldn't be a hostess!
