I actually do not have a problem with the kiosk ordering of the food & as a 35 year old millennial I actually liked it which was stated in the original review had you read it thoroughly. I've never in my life had a restaurant charge for water at a restaurant when you dine in, EVER. That's a problem for me which is my opinion & I'm entitled to that. As stated, I recognized there was not an abundance of an employees & that there was a line when we left which is why I did not ask for a manager at that time to allow those individuals the opportunity to be serviced. I went to her new location in Dellwood the place is absolutely beautiful. So me and my guy and I ordered on the kiosk. As we placed the order and it's time to check out, we saw that the tip was automatically added to the order. I don't mind tipping, but let me see what the food tastes like first. I get the order they pack in bags like get your order and go. So we got the food, and it was horrible feathers on the chicken, and you can tell the grease was old because the chicken was dark. The shrimp has gotten smaller, and the batter was so hard that when you bite the shrimp, the batter fell off. I had a bad experience at the other location, just thought because it's new things will be fresher and better. There is no need to get on here and defend your restaurant. I heard this place was known for epic soul food and decided to give it a try. They have indoor dining, but you have to place your order through their website anyway. This wasn't a big deal, but when they served us our food it was in take out containers even though they knew we were dining in. I did not like that part. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and the Cajun fries. I lived in Louisiana for 5 years and I love Cajun food, but I am a little weary of the word when it's attached to food in STL. Cathy's kitchen put my uneasiness to rest. The pasta was phenomenal. It was so flavorful and rich. The Cajun fries were also crispy and delicious. We did take out for my birthday celebration. We ordered incredibly too much food for the two of us, so we could try everything. I love how their menu is set up by city that Cathy visited. They are doing take out for Covid, I peaked inside on pick up and it seems very cute, diner style on the inside. The take out attendant was very friendly and our order was perfect. I think about that more when I do take out. I don't know about you guys. On to the food! The front runner was definitely the Cajun mac and cheese. I try to stay low carb, but it was my birthday. This max and cheese was EVERYTHING I wanted it to be. Cheesy. Tons of flavor of and a bunch of shrimp. We also got St. Louis voodoo shrimp, I do not know what goes into voodoo sauce, but it was delightful. Not spicy, but So. Much. Flavor. So good. I even saved the slaw for the next day. Loved it. My friend enjoyed her catfish platter. And if that's not enough, I also ordered the shrimp chicken breast with asparagus. If I wanted to stay keto, I could have ordered just this. Food: 4 Stars Service: 4 Stars Cathy's Kitchen had received so much praise over the last couple of years, so I decided to check them out myself. The restaurant had just opened their doors and I immediately noticed the poor ventilation and dried grease covering every inch of the venue. Dust settled on the ledges and the tables and chairs were tacky upon the touch. Being the first customers of the day, we were immediately greeted and handed cups to fill up at their refreshment station... except that 2 of their drink options were labeled as "Out of Service". We placed our orders and I watched the kitchen from afar as they prepped our meals. I could see that their shrimp were fresh and not frozen or pre-cooked. (I definitely appreciated that.) After about 10 minutes, my eyes started watering from all the smoke coming from the kitchen... The poor ventilation literally had me in tears. Needless to say, our food was fantastic. Unfortunately, that's not what we remembered when we left. All we could think about was the grime and smoke in the restaurant and how we all smelled like a vat of grease afterwards. I rushed home, showered, and threw my clothes in the wash... I'd give this place 4 stars if it weren't for my burning eyes and smelly clothes. You may have the some great food to serve, but your establishment needs a hearty deep cleaning and your ventilation system needs to get checked. read more

Visiting from Vegas for work and decided to find a soul food joint before I headed back. Didn't really understand the ordering process when I walked through the door but a gentleman behind the counter gave me directions shortly after entering the establishment. Options were to use the QR code at the table or use one of the kiosks to place my order. Due to the glare I was unsuccessful in using the QR code but ordering at the kiosk was super easy. Ordered the seafood mac n cheese with extra jumbo shrimp. I was a little nervous when it arrived with the smaller elbow noodles but it was super cheesy and packed with flavor. The serving size was enough to take home some leftovers but since I was boarding the plane in an hour or so I ate as much as I could. They were out of short cake, did NOT receive blue cheese dressing, did NOT received extra roll that I paid for or the roll that came with the wings (were salty). I requested sauce on the shrimp to be placed on the side & it was NOT, so shrimp arrived soggy. To add injury to insult--the can sodas were warm. This service was BEYOND BAD IT WAS SAD. Great seafood list! I had the Catfish nuggets, shrimp and mac & cheese and the Chicken Philly. The catfish nuggets and shrimp Mac and cheese is the best I had in STL. The both had taste and flavor. To be honest, I was slightly shocked to see that I hadn't posted a review for Cathy's Kitchen yet. This is one of my favorite restaurants in STL. I dropped in while I was on that side of town for work one afternoon, and ordered the crawfish & shrimp mac and cheese and a side of broccoli (because, you know, balance). I was surprised at how big and juicy the shrimp were, and how fresh the crawfish tasted. The mac was also perfect - nice and creamy and cheesy, without the hint of flour from an undercooked roux. I loved that meal, and remembered it fondly when the world shut down. I was ELATED when my sister opened up Door Dash one day and saw that they delivered. We've ordered them at least five times since, and it's been our go to "special meal" for friends. We've run up and down the menu, from pasta, to salad, to tacos, to sandwiches, and all of it is delicious and shockingly well-presented for take out. Whether I've ordered something as hearty as fried shrimp on mac and cheese, or as healthy as grilled salmon over mixed greens, every meal has been delightful. read more
