I went over to grandpas for their 'Rib and Shrimp' night, I was blown away on how excellent the…read morefood, service and ambience was. As you enter the large dining room you can see how much the staff pay attention to detail. Large beautiful windows let in natural light, crisp clean white linen tables clothes drape the tables, and perfectly polished utensils greet you. The server was knowledgable and was prompt. To start i had the mushroom soup. Piping hot, big 1/4 chunks of diced mushrooms with a velvety cream base. On the last day of summer I had the seasonal salad that followed the soup. Mixed greens, small bites of crunchy watermelon, feta cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was refreshing with great tones of summer, great texture with the soft cheese and crunchy watermelon. Next was the main event, the ribs and shrimp. I got a large portion (1/2 rack), smothered in a smokey and tangy BBQ sauce. The meat was falling off the bones. I've been too many rib restaurants and these by far were the best I've ever had. Paired with the ribs were 5 large butterflied shrimp, with a light and crispy batter. Served of course with fresh lemon and cocktail sauce. My vegetable was a large sweet corn on the cob that was massaged in butter. I also got a large baked potato with sour cream, onions and real bacon. This was by far one of the best dinners of my life, and it's still not over. For dessert I had the whipped cream cheese pear mousse. Light and fluffy, just sweet enough. The only downside was the pear tasted like they were out of a can and not fresh. Next time your visiting grandma and grandpa at the retirement community make sure you go there on the Thursday night for rib night. You won't be disappointed. They also serve hot and cold breakfast and lunches. Oh and one more thing, my entire dinner cost $15 including taxes and came with either a tomato juice or cranberry cocktail!

If I could give it a zero I would. These people Lisa Bright and Carmen Baker, what sales people…read morethey are. Will tell you anything to sell a room. We went on a tour at 11:00 am, that was the time Lisa chose. Exercises were going on lunch was in full swing. By the way they have a double sitting. The resident has to be down for their designated time at meals. If they can not come down for the meal yes someone will bring a tray for a FEE. We chose a room at this place more for the convenience of the resident. I wish I stayed with my first choice River Ridge 2 in Winnipeg. We were promised so much but another story when the papers were signed. I come from a very dysfunctional family and I did communicate this with Lisa and her reply to us was, if there is anyone you want to be banned from the building just give us their name and a photo if you have one. Before the resident even moved in some family members were able to walk in mention the residents name ask for a key and was given a key to the room. THAT IS THE SECURITY THAT LISA MENTIONED THAT THEY PROVIDE. I did ask the girl who gave the key out who they were. She replied family members. No one was asked for IDENTIFICATION EITHER. The family member was moving in anyways no other choice at this point. But the one thing the building did allow was for my dysfunctional family to take over the care plan all the arrangements I had made for a family member that suffers from cognitive impairment. Confussed enough but that did not matter to them. I have read a few other reviews and yes there are a lot of mouse traps everywhere. It is not senior friendly at all in the rooms. One thing I found was very disrespectful was Lisa and Carmen trashing down WRHA. Telling me lucky if anyone shows up then your family member goes without. That is how I found out about the fee for a tray to be brought up if home care does not show up. So many red flags about this place. They really try to push the services they provide at a cost. Good luck talking with Carmen about the tier system. I asked if my family member does not require one of their services how much comes off the monthly bill. Well there is no price I was told, that's another tier level. Carmen did have to go over the tier level again and let me know the new balance for the month because there is no price for services separately. They can give you any tier amount as Carmen says everyone is different. Yes but laundry $, bath assist $. Just add up the services requested and the cost and there you go, your monthly charge. I was also told only nurses give out medication to the residents. That is why the cost is higher. I was with the resident one night. A health care aide came to give the night medication, not a nurse. Dealing with this place was a nightmare. Lots of things you will find out after the fact. I would suggest this place as a last resort if you are desperate while waiting for another place.

Highly overrated. Caring staff. Mediocre food. Constant price hiking and withdrawing of promised…read moreamenities. Management dances to the tune of the American owners. Yes, this is a new and attractive bldg. but very cheaply built. Everything is for show. Very expensive! Many aspects of this bldg. are not senior friendly.
