I cancelled 23 hours previous, and the day of my appointment, it still showed me as booked. The page says that only 8 hours notice is required. I phoned twice, and the phone just rang through with no voicemail. The owner Mike Booth called me a liar. He spouted irrational nonsense about how the site might say 8 hours notice for cancellation, but it's "actually" 24. He called me a liar several times, and blamed the dysfunction on their 3rd party calling system----but still made it my fault. I did not have my caller i.d. on when I phoned, so apparently this makes me a liar. Ironically, Booth had his caller i.d. off as well. Again, I believe the therapist should not have to suffer for the company's dysfunction. But being abused and gaslighted as a client is not okay. Massage Athletica lost a client and made an enemy by their crazymaking and abusive response. This is not okay for any business, but for one that practices the healing arts, it is completely contrary to what they stand for. I also had to nag them to send receipts each time I visited, so that should have been a red flag. I hope Nicole reads this. I worked as a contractor for a company like this, and lost clients and income because of the admin's behaviour. I hope she finds somewhere more respectful.

They have a lot of therapists there so I can usually get an appointment on the same day that I call. I go with a different therapist every time, some are better than others. My definition of a great massage is someone who listens to my problems and then gives me a super deep tissue massage. The good ones really focus on the problem and give advice on what to after the treatment. I've had some great massages here and some bad ones but this is all due to the fact that I go with a different therapist every time. Although I never found the right therapist here so I've moved onto another clinic. But for the times when I can't get an appointment with my current massage therapist, I call Academy. Pros: - very clean facility, sheets are decently soft - they have a FT receptionist (some places don't) - lots of therapists (possible to get in on the same day) - good pricing; it's in line with most clinics around the city Cons: - because it's an old house, you can hear a lot noise from the second floor (loud creaks) which can be a bit distracting if you're looking for a very tranquil environment - certain rooms kinda loud, like the one near the kitchen or the laundry room; I prefer the ones on the second level - hit and miss with the therapists (some are friendly, a few seem a bit cold) so if you find a good one, keep them! - if you want direct billing to your insurance company, you have to pay a $3 admin charge - kinda annoying since other places don't do that. But you can just pay the entire bill and handle your own reimbursement if you want to avoid that charge.

The first time I arrived only to find out that they didn't even have me in their records as being booked. I was given a lukewarm "sorry we don't know how that happened". As this was the first time this had occurred, I chalked it up to human error and just went home. My regular Massage Therapist contacted me to tell me NOT to book through the business and just text her personally to book my appointments. So we made another appointment and upon arriving for this rebooked appointment, I was APPALLED to find out that the appointment had been cancelled a week earlier as the Massage Therapist was not going to be able to come in but I was never notified of the cancellation! They didn't even bother to really apologize for this now being my second attempt to get a massage, showing up and going home not getting a massage. I have yet to go back as this was totally unacceptable to me. I understand that errors happen but I what bothers me the most is their total lack of feeling bad about it. The apologies were very lame and the staff didn't seem overly concerned that this was my second time there not being able to get a massage that I had BOOKED! When my Massage Therapist finally got a hold of me, she offered me a free massage for the errors of both bookings but I have yet to be back because, truth be told, I am concerned about booking anything with them. 0/10 for customer service from the employees at Sundragon Studios. I would advise anyone of thinking of using their services to look elsewhere first! Nothing is more frustrating that looking forward to a nice massage only to be told they don't have you booked and their attitude of "oops sorry oh well".
