Everything was fresh, well presented and full of flavour. The coffee was excellent and paired perfectly with breakfast. It's easy to see why this café is so popular with both locals and visitors exploring The Rocks. The location is also hard to beat, making it the perfect place to relax before or after walking around the historic area. Great food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Sydney.

We were waited on immediately. Servers fly around like dancers, it's actually pretty impressive. Our food arrived in no time. My wife had fish and chips and I had lamb and rosemary pie. She enjoyed her meal. Mine was different than I've had before. It was still ok but I wouldn't order it again. Others would probably like it, it just wasn't for me. We didn't have any dessert but as you walk in the door they have some wonderful looking pies and cakes. Do yourself a favor and save room for one of those. I messed up and didn't try something. This is actually a really cool restaurant that I would like to try again. I wouldn't let one dish that didn't hit my taste buds keep me away.

We were ready to eat some decent food after eating shitty food on AA from LAX-SYD. We had a 15 hr…read moredirect flight from LAX. The ladies at the front desk of our hotel recommended Canteen, a food hall near our hotel in Barangaroo. Canteen houses Costi's, as well as many other eateries, that appeal to many office workers. In addition, the area has many visitors to the nearby wharf area, where ferries take you around Darling Harbour. We ordered fish & chips, fried calamari, grilled Greek octopus & rice, and two types of salads (the latter, not pictured). The total was $52 AUD, or ~$34 USD based on exchange rates in Oct, 2025. Keep in mind, tipping is not expected in Australia vs the US, but most restaurants do charge approx 1.5% for credit card transactions. The food was already prepared. Nonetheless, bc we hit Costi's early (approx 11:30 am), everything was super fresh. The piece of NZ Hoki was massive, and the fish was moist and nicely seasoned. Likewise the chips were GBD and a large portion. Secondarily, the octopus was super tender, and had 3 skewers to an order. On the other hand, I could have done w/o the sauce and the brown rice. The latter was dry AF. Lastly, the pear salad had crunchy fresh pears, and the pumpkin salad had big chunks of tasty pumpkin. BTW, you have to pay AUS $1 for sauces. We opted for tartar and peri peri, that were both good. The guy who took care of us was super nice and friendly. Its a food hall, indoor and outdoor seating is available. I would definitely return to Costi's to support a local small biz. The food is very good, reasonably priced and the service is friendly.

I came in late afternoon on a Friday, was met by the host, and managed to score a table, even though I knew it was going to be busy. I was given water and a menu, ordered a cold beer, and looked over the menu. I came here for one thing- LOBSTER- and they had it! I ordered a medium lobster, as well as the Tasman Sea Octopus starter. My cold James Boags beer arrived, with a hot roll and butter. Followed by a plate of some of the best grilled octopus that I have ever had- tender, tasty, with a nice sauce. Then, the main event- a huge lobster, with all the delectable meat removed, cut up and placed back in the shell- so tender and so delicious, especially with the Shallot Butter! It came with chips and a salad, both perfect side dishes. I ate my lobster slowly, to enjoy every tasty morsel. I had a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc with it as well. Instead of dessert, I had a cheese plate. This place is great- I cannot recommend it enough. Both service and food are on point. I will come here every time I return to Sydney.

It's massive, modern and provides plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy all the fresh sea food from the vendors inside. I got Peter's- a salmon lover's bento box- and everything was so delicate and fresh. The salmon sashimi melted like butter and the rice on the nigiri was fluffy, tender and went perfect with the fish. The service was super fast and the workers were direct but friendly. The lines honestly weren't that bad when I went- so try to go on a weekday if possible. Great spot to bring friends and family. The only annoyance were the birds! Be ready to run away from the seagulls- they love to gather here.

In addition to fresh seafood (both raw and…read morecooked), they also serve food from all around the world including Chinese dumplings, Italian food with other meats, pastries, desserts, fresh fruits and foods from different cuisines. I got 2 of the fresh raw large prawns. They were so sweet and delicious! I ate them off their shells raw. You could dip them in soy sauce with wasabi for extra umami. I also got a variety of nigiris and they were all delicious! I also got the Portuguese custard tarts and they were very close to the ones I got in Lisbon ! I also got the fried fish burger and their Barramundi fish (which tastes like sea bass) was tender and moist! The fresh cut mangos were very sweet and I plan go back one more time before I leave Sydney! The fish market was recently renovated and just opened earlier this year. The birds outside can get very aggressive. Indoor seating usually requires you to purchase from the restaurant with the seatings. Seating can be a challenge and to me that was the biggest downside to the whole experience.

We came on a Sunday at 1:00P and only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Most tables are on the covered outdoor patio with just a few others inside the open air setting. We started off with a raw plate to share, followed by individual entrées. + SALMON CEVICHE (A$28): Thin slices of salmon in a bright zesty citrus soy dressing, with dollops of avocado cream and lime aioli. The salmon was so smooth, buttery and super fresh. I rarely eat ceviche since I usually don't care for citrus flavors, but I enjoyed this since the salmon remained the star of the plate. + DAINTREE BARRAMUNDI FILLET GRILLED (A$38): A perfectly sized fillet was delicate, moist and didn't have any bones! The skin was grilled and crisp like a chip. Normally, I'm not a fan of skin on fish, but this was impeccable. A few cauliflower florets in a flavorful chermoula added a bold punch. I also loved the salted barra croquette, a fritter of potato and barramundi, which was fried to a golden brown and light inside. All of this was on top of a fresh mint yogurt which rounded out this very cohesive dish. Others in my group enjoyed the swordfish fillet and the fish of the day, which was a mahi mahi. Our waitress enticed us with two desserts which all of us shared as a sweet ending. + DARK CHOCOLATE PARFAIT (A$18): A rich chocolate pudding layered with Queen Garnet plums and topped with large chocolate shavings. The pudding was creamy and rich while the ripe plums added sweetness with a hint of tartness. + TOASTED COCONUT & MANGO CRUMBLE (A$16): A delightful refreshing coconut sorbet came with juicy cubes of fresh mango on top. Some granola crumbles provided crunch and substance to an otherwise light dessert. I never would have guessed this is both gluten-free and dairy-free. Our server was excellent and took wonderful care of us by checking back and keeping our waters full. We appreciated her recommendations as well. On top of the great service and delicious food, every dish had a lovely presentation and the pricing was reasonable for the quality of each plate.
