Neat place for food and overpriced souvenirs. Weirdly attached to a mall that seemed to come out of nowhere. Crowded and weird.

It's a modern giftware's market found all over the world, attracting visitors and locals alike. My brother ended up getting a good deal for checked luggage since he had realized he had bought enough gifts to overfill his existing. There is also an attached renovated food hall (20 million renovation) with 48 stalls. Definitely a cool place to go if hungry.

Quality/Quantity - What a cool place! Like a flea market. So many different businesses - Shops, places to eat and drink, etc. In my opinion it is pretty inexpensive gift shopping. My wife started stocking up. I guess once you go over your luggage weight limit, it just matters less now...? Atmosphere - Centrally located. See picture of nearby attractions. Warehouse like atmosphere. Open 5 days a week from 10am to 6pm, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Events, see website. Night food markets, car shows, pop-ups, etc. Free shuttles at some of their locations. Service - Good. Price - Inexpensive for shopping. Food and drink prices are reasonable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1834 and with your 2 locations; this is a must visit, especially if you are in need of some gift shopping.

This is Sydney's answer to NYC's Chinatown. Lots of inexpensive touristy wares, fresh produce, some food booths, and souvenirs. Also chair and table massages, which I would have loved to have done, but no one could really answer me about how long the service was. Prices were posted, but the listing was kind of vague and no one wanted to state a price upfront. That doesn't instill great trust. I got a good bargain for some tshirts for my son and niece, some Sydney themed tea towels, magnets, and other little items to take home. Great spot in a very central location. I would recommend a visit if you are looking for some simple and inexpensive things to take home with you.

My better half and I were look for a specific stuffed animal koala. We seen it in our drivers vehicle and a friend had one in his car. He told us to check out Chinatown. After looking high and low we stumbled upon Paddy's Market which is like a indoor swap meet. One side there is a pretty good size farmer market where they sell vegetables. Some venders selling different kind of nuts and other food things. I got a phone case that is normally $59 for over half off at $25. I was really happy about that find. Tons of other souvenir shops selling things from towels, all the way down to keychains, magnets authentic kangaroo hats and even skins. You also have some stalls selling fake goods as well. Remember the saying, if it's too good to be true... They have knock off hats and shirts from companies like Supreme, Hugo Boss, and other high end brand names. After looking around, we finally found the koala we've been looking for and we got him for only $28. We thought he'd be more like $50 and up. My better half got me a pocket watch that I've been wanting for a long time. So yeah, this was a awesome day and great finds. I heard the reason they are able to sell so cheap is that the land is owed by the government or something like that and the rent is really cheap unlike the outside stores. We highly recommend coming here if you are looking for souvenirs or just want to wander around. FYI because the margins are already low, most don't go lower on price. If you get hungry you can go next door to the food court as they have some awesome places to eat at.

Great place to go to pick up all your Sydney souvenirs. They are open Wednesday to Sunday from 10AM-6PM. Patties Market is located in Haymarket/Chinatown district. This is a great location cause its very central to everything. I loved Patties because it was indoors (it was raining the day we came) and the prices can't be beat! Another great thing about Patties, ITS HUGE! There were tons of shop stalls to look at. They have everything from boomerangs, stuffed animals, key chains, magnets, clothes, phone cases, knock off bags, anything you can think of! I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

Large market close to chinatown. There are many vendors to buy souvenirs, but many are made in China. Many vendors sell the same items so you an walk around to get the best deal. I didn't try bargaining with any vendors since I wasn't interested in buying anything. My favorite part was actually the fresh fruit and vegetables market. There's a wide variety of things to buy and they all are very fresh...especially guavas! My favorite. There's also 2 levels above the market, but I didn't venture to see them.

Paddy's Markets is in Chinatown, and is open 10am - 6pm Wednesday - Sunday. It is an indoor space with many stands set up on the ground floor hawking a variety of goods such as souvenirs, t-shirts, bags, wigs, electronics, as well as a few food stands. Up on the 2nd floor, I located a pharmacy, but didn't check out otherwise. My local friend described Paddy's as ladies street in Hong Kong, pointed out that many items are Made in China, and warned us to be aware of quality. We picked up some key chains, postcards, a phone case, and some new phone glass covers here. The fellow did a quality job putting on the new glass protector though - no air bubbles whatsoever. Be on your guard for quality, as I noticed the eyes falling out of some of those bags of clip on koalas that you will start to notice that you are seeing everywhere.

Having been to Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne only a few days before my visit to Paddy's Market, I was expecting cool and tacky souvenirs, fresh fruits and vegetables, and ready to eat food from vendors. Although I did find all of the aforementioned, I didn't find the overall environment at Paddy's to be as exciting or engaging. If you're purchasing souvenirs for family or friends, I recommend a visit to Paddy's. The selection is quite extensive, which includes handbags, stuffed animals, paintings and photos, smartphone cases, and clothing (just to name a few). But most importantly, these items are cheaper here than if you were to purchase them at the airport or at touristy shops around Darling Harbour or Circular Quay.

Unless you're phobic about crowds and some shoving, this is arguably the best place in inner Sydney for produce and souvenirs, including knickknacks. I was a Haymarket resident for a few years, and having Paddy's Market right nearby was pure gold, as there really is no better place for bargain fruits and veggies around. They are only open certain days of the week, and it's best to come here very early in the morning, and I mean as early as 8am, because that's when most vendors open their shops and it's not at all crowded then. Otherwise, I'd often come here during lunch hour or just before they close, say about 5-6pm, when it's the busiest and it's often hard to move around because there usually is a sea of people there all scrambling to grab a bargain of bargains. When you come here this late, heaps of vendors will also have "$1 specials," and often shout "One dollar! One dollar!" trying to get your attention. The Ultimo Road side of the Market is all produce and some seafood, while the other side -adjacent to monorail and Dixon street- is all souvenirs and other goods, including nuts and herbs, clothes, toys, wigs, mobile phone cases and accessories, and all kinds of bags. I believe this is also one of the more iconic tourist spots as well, and for a good reason. If you want to restore some sanity after Paddy's, head upstairs to Market City. More shops, but less shoving!

The top of my list is Eat Me Chutneys; they sell chutney made from rescued food that taste amazing and takes a swipe at fighting food injustice. Next, someone at this market is always selling warrigal greens. I love them so much. Lastly, this market has really well priced meat. Remember, only the first saturday of the month. London and California have some pretty good ones but this is up there with the finest. I love the way the stall make a horse shoe shape around Civic park - you can meander past all the food and finish up in the grassy centre so that you can munch on all your new delights. Last market I bough a giant size broccoli that must have been cut at the roots because it was about the size of five supermarket broccoli attached together. Because they were attached to the main stem it lasted for a good week and a half and that wasn't because it went off but rather we ate all. Even better - it cost about $4 - bargain. Saying that, whilst much of the seasonal fruit and vegetables are reasonably prices many of the other products aren't so cheap. Organic meats, milk, wood fired breads, fresh pasta, bottled sauces, organic coffee beans, gluten free sweets, fresh muesli, tea tonics, natural skin care ranges, fresh flowers, organic cider and a stall with a banana bread stacked wall are some of the pricier items. Some of my favourite buys have been a cashew nut spread, beetroot hummus and edible zucchini flowers. There is usually a good busker strumming out some tunes too - I like to pop him my gold change from that indulgent mocha I bought! It happens on the third Saturday of every month from 8am - 12pm. Under cover parking is available in the Ridge St. car park behind Civic Park.
