On a recent return to Sydney we wanted to experience some neighborhoods outside the typical visitor areas. On a recommendation of some friends we took an early ferry to Balmain East and worked our way up Darling St. to explore the neighborhood. Several lovely shops and places to stop for a quick pint but two places really stood out to us. Darling St. Meats was at top of the list. I'm a carnivore who loves to grill, smoke, fry, or even tartar just about anything so when I have a chance to visit a local butcher I'm in. I think this is how my wife must feel when shoe shopping. First thing i noticed is how clean the shop was. Immaculate and fresh! Second was the staff. Chris and Rick were both eager to answer questions and share their passion for beautiful meats and sausages. We ended up getting a dry aged steak which was delicious. Also took home with us some of their house made ham glaze that we are going to use for Thanksgiving. Wish we could have tried much more! read more
