Positioned outside a church, these markets are made up of lots of little stalls (200+) of goodies made by local designers. It's rumoured that most of Australians top designers did a stint at these markets before making it BIG. This is a great place to find a unique item for yourself or a loved one and if anything isn't it nice to not be in a shopping mall.... On a sunny day its fun just to browse around, grab a snack from one of the vendors and soak in the atmosphere. There are lots of families and young people perusing the different collections. No visit to Paddington is complete on a Saturday without spending some time at the Paddington Markets; or in other words the Paddington Bazaar that has been around for donkey's years and will continue to do so. Enjoy psychic readings, and also immerse yourself in great clothes and jewellery stands with friendly vendors (although a couple of them can be real smart arses; avoid them like the plague) at the grounds of the Paddington Public School. If your in Darlinghurst, just a 10 minute walk usually will land you right here in this trendy local flavour establishment. Just an abundance of choice giving the nearby retail outlets an opportunity to up the ante on their service offerings. It is so easy to do. A market with style, class and finesse. Not a typical junk shop or garage store concept. Quality items (including plants from what I can recall) at really great prices. No wonder why the Paddington Bazaar attracts the crowds from all over Sydney; not to mention visitors to Sydney. Once your dash at the markets is over, there are great restaurants to eat at across the road. If Rozelle Markets are the car boot sale / slightly grubby old auntie of Sydney markets, Paddington Markets are the posh, elegant cousin who always looks amazing and wears Prada even when they are going to Coles. Unlike Rozelle where you are literally pawing through old junk to find treasures (a fun pastime in its own right), Paddington has a sleek, chic, exclusive feel - with a price tag to match. Paddo Markets are the perfect place for a browse if you're feeling a bit flush - think "antique" sunglasses that will run you upwards of $200. A few tasty food vendors - Paddy the Baker, the Grumpy Baker, Belly Bao, Jackeroos - round out the experience. And I've never heard any live music here that wasn't excellent. They only get dinged a star because I wish I could afford to actually shop here instead of window shop... read more

Came here yesterday after being unimpressed with the Taylor Square markets. Was really impressed with these! These markets are heavy on the goods and less heavy on the food, but great to walk through nonetheless. Kinda similar to The Rocks markets but a little bit more unique and varied in my opinion. Anyway, bought some cool stuff and definitely will be looking to come back when buying gifts for friends in the future. read more

Paddington markets are the local Artisans Markets, but don't get your hopes up for fresh food or organic market stalls as It's not that type of market. Get out of bed, up and early on your Saturday morning (forgiving the hangovers of last night) grab some fresh juice, or a strong coffee (which-ever is your necessary cure) and stroll through the corridors of the Paddo public school, feasting your eyes on a visual treat of arts and crafts. It's a great morning stroll, to soak up the vibe of the area. Maybe you'll go to buy someone else a present, or to spoil yourself effortlessly. I suggestion you come with an open mind, and spend some time getting to know the stall operators, as they always have an interesting story, or insight into their products. The products here are of much higher quality both in a sense of art and fashion, and build than compared to those of Surry Hills markets for instance. You won't see recycled clothing here, more like fashionista labels, and couture. read more

The upmarket markets, Paddington Markets attract a steady flow of yummy mummies and tourists which keep these over-priced stalls pumping out the goods. Combined to Sydney's other markets, Paddington is the posh one, brimming with homewares, crafts and children wares. Busier market than some pictures indicate. About 100 artisans and clothiers along with a dozen food/ drink vendors. Most upscale. Entertainment too ! Every Saturday Oxford Street attracts throngs of shoppers and tourists who flock to the famous Paddington Markets. Paddington Markets on Oxford Street is a pretty popular little place and I know why although at the same time I can't understand the attraction to these type of markets. Maybe it's a male thing? There's some pretty cool stuff which you can score. Clothes, sunglasses, art, "stuff" to hang on your wall. Jewellery, bonsai plants and if you get hungry there's a few food stalls to although it can get quite squishy in there depending on what time you go and for every bit of good things that you can find in there, you'll also find stuff that's.. questionable at best. Maybe it's worth heading out and checking it for yourself. It won't hurt and you may end up finding something special! read more

You can find everything here under one roof. I have found some amazing dresses for my little granddaughter and they were at very reasonable prices. There are also art shops selling all kinds of cutlery and dishes and cups. All of them are very unique and so pretty, that you'll end up buying at least a thing. From my personal experience I can say that the staff are all very friendly and nice and if you get tired there are also some booths offering food, where you can sit down for a quick bite. read more

Is it just me, or has this Sydney institution lost its mojo? Late nineties and Oxford street was the place to be on a Saturday arvo. Paddo Markets were on the regular locals agenda to the point that it could often feel like being trapped in a tin of sardines for the fence to fence of crowds attempting to meander market aisles. A bit like being stuck in Sydney peak hour traffic. You want to make progress but you can't move and it's frustrating as hell, but there's no creature comfort within which to crank tunes, blast air con, and curse with conviction. But somehow it was all part of the atmosphere... which in my most recent visits appears to have been lost. So where are the masses? Westfield perhaps? Maybe my timing is wrong. Anyhoo, nostalgia aside, there are still 200 stalls to ferret through, and an aromatic array of food stall to get the tastebuds salivating, emerging Aussie designers... the likes of Dinosaur Designs kicked off here. And there's still all the colour and quirk you would expect from any bazaar - just less the sardines. read more
