The store itself is spacious and well organized, with a good selection of Patagonia's outdoor apparel and gear. Everything is displayed nicely and the environment feels clean and inviting, making it easy to browse. That said, the pricing is full retail, and Patagonia products can be pretty expensive. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area where Patagonia outlet stores are more common, I'm used to finding better deals. Because of that, I'm a bit hesitant to pay full price and tend to compare with other outdoor retailers like REI, where you can sometimes find similar gear at more competitive prices. The South End location itself is lively and fun to explore, with lots of nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and dessert spots. It's a great area to walk around and make a few stops while you're there. Parking can be a bit challenging in South End, especially during busy times, so plan accordingly. Insider tip: If Patagonia runs a seasonal sale, this would be a great place to come back and browse again. I'm honestly surprised they've managed to survive for so long. However, they do seem to have a hand on a niche market - fly fishing. If I did any fly fishing, I'd be in here for sure to get geared up. Nearly half of the store is dedicated to fly fishing. It's a novel experience to come by and check out all the flies even if you don't actually do any fishing. Nowadays though I don't bother going to that part of the store. They have a good selection of shoes and hiking boots, several knives and utility tools, clothes, jackets, underwear, backpacks and bags. There are some knick-knacks throughout for camping, hiking and the outdoor lifestyle but the selection and variety is very limited. On a recent stop in here I was looking at bags and the shopkeeper asked if I needed help. I struck up a conversation about what bag I was specifically looking for and mentioned that they didn't have it. He just kinda said "oh" and that was about it. Didn't offer to look around for me in case I was missing something. Didn't offer to order it in for me online. It was an incredibly awkward experience. In fact, it sort of compares to many of my recent visits in here because staff has not always been particularly engaging. They seem to just stare at you intently as you walk around the store browsing. Like they think you'll swipe something. The prices are a bit high on things. But prices are always high on outdoor gear, really. They'd be the same at about any other outdoors store. The thing here is that, being a local shop, they can't really offer the sort of membership-based, nationwide deals that big chain stores can.

I generally love Academy. But I'm disappointed with a recent…read moreinteraction. After making an online order to pick up in store, I went to pick it up. I was given my order minus one item. After letting the cashier know it was missing, she looked at the computer and said, "oh. Yeah, it was cancelled." I told her I never received a notification of it being cancelled and she said, "well, we don't have it, that's why." I asked to get the same item in store but in a different color since it was a bundled purchase as part of a promotion. She said okay. I quickly went, found the item, and took it up to her at the register, where she CHARGED ME FOR IT. I asked why I was being charged if I had already paid for the item and she said I will get my other item's refund in 7-10 business days. I paid and left. When I got home, I received a notification that my item still hadn't been picked up in store. ???????? I called customer care and they said they couldn't do anything about it and to call the store. I called the store and they said the same thing and that customer care should have handled it. So now, either my item or my money (or both) are floating around somewhere and there's no one who knows how to just cancel the item and reimburse me.

Went today to return my daughters soccer cleats, the second time in two weeks because of wrong size…read more. Anyways went to the customer service desk after entering the store and waited for 5 or so mins while associate was helping another gentleman. While standing there a male associate named Phillip approached me and asked if I was wanting to return an item. I stated yes I was and he stated, and I quote " well you're going to have to go get in the back of the line, we can't have you cutting in front of all these other people". I explained to him that a week prior that I went to desk at first like you do anywhere else and that I was not aware I needed to get in the purchase line. He continued to walk behind me and follow me to the line after I told him I did not appreciate him accusing me of breaking in line as I was not aware this was the expectation . He was super rude and has no place working with the public with his terrible and condescending attitude. Spoke with manager Chandra and she stated she would speak with him, but I assume it will not be handled as she stated this was not typical of him. After reading several reviews on here with similar complaints maybe it's just the culture of the Gastonia store. I will not be back . Attached is the signage that clearly states what I did, just to be treated and talked to like trash.

After confirming, he spoke to the manager to replace the bladder for me. Then he tested the new one (no leaks!) and then connected it to my bag and ensured I knew how to use the quick connect (old one did have it) and helped me feel comfortable with it. Thank you Dale!!

My wife and I traveled to Charlotte this weekend for a wedding. Some how I misplaced my blue suit,…read moreshoes, and shirt. Not a good situation. We went to Macy's and Nordstrom's to see if I could buy anything off the shelf.......nothing. I found Ole mason Jar Clothier online and walked the few blocks to their wonderful store. We were greeting by Brad and Filipe and explained my dilemma. Now think about this for a moment........I asked them at 11:00 am if there was any chance that I could buy a suit and just have the pants altered or pinned up for a wedding that was happening that day at 5:00 pm. The answer was "Yes, we can make that happen." I was shocked. Filipe asked what size I was and I answered a 46 regular........Brad looked at me and said put him in a 44 reg. It fit better than any suit I have ever owned. All of their clothes are their own brand and designed by them. Their material, stitching, and cut, were beautiful. I was measured and handed the suit back to Filipe. He bolted to the seamstress. My wife and I had lunch and the suit was ready in less that 2.5 hours. As one of my first experiences purchasing products from a business reopening during Covid I must tell you that it was such a grand experience. These guys represent EVERYTHING GREAT about business ownership. They cared about my situation, produce a fantastic product, and delivered with a huge smile. I am an OMJ lifer. Thanks Guys
