My experience with ABC Chimney Service left a sour taste. Full disclosure, I made a quick,…read moreimpulsive decision to hire Mr. William. I should have taken time to get other estimates and educated myself in chimney repair. So, I take much responsibility for this mistake. According to my estimate from ABC Chimney, I needed the top layer of bricks repaired and a new crown poured. Materials listed were 1 bag of concrete. They quoted me $1000 to complete the job. At that point, I did question the amount. Mr. Williams said " It's a two man job and a day's work". I agreed because I wanted it completed before winter and gave him a $500 deposit to hold my spot (my mistake, I should have waited). The day the work was to be completed, I came home from work at 11:15 A.M. They had already completed the work and left the bill at my door. I was dumbfounded. My neighbor said he saw them leave a bit after 10 A.M. So, I am thinking that they spent 1.5-2 hours (maybe) at my house. I called Mr. William, because I interpreted his "day's work" comment to mean it would take a full day to complete the job (dumb, I know). He quickly said "no, he would charge me for a full day's work". So, I am paying him for two hours of work and a $20 bag of concrete! I have an older home and have needed extensive repair over the past few years. I have hired some great tradespeople. I do not have a problem paying for services rendered. I am paying ABC Chimney, but this feels much different. Learn from me and get a few estimates. Very few people can afford my mistake.

I sent out a barrage of emails to a number of companies that served our area and one response jump out. They responded to my inquiry within just a few hours and were able to get me scheduled for a inspection within a few weeks. I'm sure autumn is a very busy time and my guess is they had a tech coming to the area without a full docket for the day. They have a very clear process, prompt communication, and a very professional approach. On the right day I got a call from the tech that he would be on site within 30 minutes, which was well within the expected window. When he arrived we chatted a bit and, once he got suited up, he jumped into the work and wasn't hesitant to get in there, clear the cobwebs, check some items in our basement, etc., Very thorough and he was able to provide me a good status of my chimney, options for the wood burning insert I had asked about, and a clear, documented, process for how I can get there plus what to do to make sure this chimney will last another 150 years. I was impressed. They are a professional organization, serving a very large area, and not the least expensive option. But, that's not to say they wouldn't be the best value. The technician onsite was very knowledgeable but wasn't shy about contacting his team for further input. All signs of a healthy, stable, company. No pressure. No hard sell. No forced timelines. Just great info, patience, and a real dedication to keeping things tidy! Great visit and a company I would use again for sure!

Employee from here nearly caused a massive accident today on my drive to work (9/24 8am). We all slammed on our breaks to a complete stop. Car behind me had to come up on my side to avoid slamming into me. I've seen wrecks in front of this place before, I'm assuming this is how they happen. These people should not be out driving around let alone working on people's houses.
