I like wine venues where you can try several great wineries at the same time. While it's certainly nice to go to wineries directly on their estate, a fantastic alternative without the driving point to point, is what they do at Catalyst.
This new offering in Phoenix has a rotating selection of wines from Sound & Vision, Goldback, and Ryan Rose.
I've come to believe that Rob Folin's Ryan Rose wines are some of the best in Rogue Valley. Their Malbec is sensational. It's a great place to get these wines, and to taste them as well.
Once while at Catalyst, Andy Meyer, the winemaker for Goldback (and assistant winemaker at Weisinger) stopped by and chatted with us about his wines. It's nice to have that sort of experience here.
Sound & Vision is a newer winery focusing on grapes less well known in our area, but more prominently in Italy, like Sangiovese and Vermentino. Being new, they've still got reds yet to show their full potential, but I'm bullish on where they could go.
Catalyst has both indoor and outdoor seating options, and would be a great place to visit before (or after) a meal at Clyde's just on the other side of the complex. If you don't like wine and pizza, then I can't be friends with you, sorry. read more
