Gym is pretty good with a lot of equipment and work out options. Only issue is machine maintenance is slow if it gets done at all.

I've been to dozens of LA Fitnesses all over the country, maybe 100 of them. (Im not kidding)…read more This is the best LA Fitness I've ever been to. Lots of machines, never too crowded. Men's room was clean and well designed. Sound silly probably, but the best aspect about it was the lighting. There's a newer design (finally) by LA Fitness to have much more subtle lighting in the place. Most of them you get blasted the second you walk in by harsh, oppressive, artificial light. It feels like you're walking into a surgical theater. But the new ones, the lighting is much more refined, I love it. I was in town for a week and was a big fan of this location. The only negative I could even muster was that I remembered I was working out over the remains of the old Holiday Showcase Theaters, where I saw classics like Goonies and Who Framed Roger Rabbit when I was a kid! :(

Typical gym BS when you cancel your membership. Got charged after I canceled, called to complain,…read moreobviously they've done this before because they are ready with the double talk. They are pros in that respect. The gym itself was bleak. Equipment is old, dusty and damaged, televisions on the equipment don't work, tvs on the wall are nearly impossible to see. Membership is cheap but you get what you pay for. No classes, no locker room. I joined the Y and the difference is wonderful. Two pools, multiple locker rooms, tons of classes, childcare, hot tub, sauna, steam room, tons of brand new equipment, friendly staff always there and willing to help. And canceling takes 30 seconds and there's no BS. There are plenty of gyms in the area in this price range that are so much better.

This gym was a little smaller than I am used to but still had all the machines that I normally use…read moreand wasn't that busy when I went so I didn't have to wait for anything. The staff was friendly willing to help in anyway. One thing that I thought was unusual was they didn't have locker rooms. Just private changing rooms and the lockers were in the main gym area. I kinda liked that. I was able to keep an eye on my locker since i didn't have a lock and wasn't disgusted by naked dudes walking around in the changing area since it was private. Not really sure how much the membership is since I had a free pass but would only sign up if you like a smaller setting with older members and if the price was just right.

Overall, my family has been pretty happy with the Y. The workout facilities, locker rooms and…read morebathrooms are much cleaner than what I've experienced at places like LA fitness. I love that they have lockers with locks in the main workout area (you do need to bring your own lock for the locker room), although currently many of the lockers are broken so I hope they repair them soon. I've taken quite a few good classes here although the classes do tend to get crowded so you really have to show up early to make sure you have a spot. We also enjoy swimming both in the lap pool and with our son in the zero depth pool. The one frustration I have had is with the adventure room. This is a great indoor playground which my toddler son loves. However, unlike the rest of the facilities, it is covered in dust. I worry that if they aren't maintaining this area, not only is it covered in germs from the children, but they may not be regularly inspecting the safety of the structure. Overall, it seems like a safe playspace but anytime you have kids climbing at such high heights, a piece of broken equipment could become a serious danger. I always watch my son closely and check out the equipment myself while he's playing. The other problem with this area is that although there is an app with schedules, it is frequently incorrect when it comes to the adventure room. The open hours for children under five are very limited and as you can imagine, it is very difficult to get a toddler out of the house, bring him to his favorite place only to have to tell him that it is unexpectedly closed. I have brought up this issue to the staff multiple times, but it still has not been addressed. In general, I would say the Y is worth it, especially if you were planning on utilizing all of the facilities

My 1-year-old daughter, who is potty trained, needed help washing her hands and asked a staff member for assistance, but she was ignored. She then asked her 11-year-old sister for help. When my older daughter tried to help her in the bathroom, staff stopped her and told her she could not go in with her sister, and they spoke to her in a very harsh and upsetting way. I understand that there may be bathroom policies, but the way the situation was handled and the way my daughter was spoken to was completely unacceptable. We will not be returning to this YMCA and will be staying with our local YMCA instead.
