Gratuitous pic of Kev (taken by Raquel)

I've been using Cat Servants since 2017, when I needed someone to look in on my elderly cat, Snoop, while I went away for 10 days. Raquel was fantastic from the first meeting. She kept me in the loop while I was gone, sending multiple texts, pics and videos with each visit. My Snoopy was a little "standoffish" (read: a bitch), but Raquel always managed to coax her out and get her to play. On top of it, my bathroom ceiling collapsed while I was away (thanks 120-year-old plumbing), and she immediately let me know so I could take care of it from afar. I've used her several times since then, most recently over the holidays this year. Sadly, I had to say goodbye to Snoop in March , but now I have Kevin, and Raquel continues going above and beyond to make sure he gets the best care possible. She even brought him food from her own stash when he wouldn't eat the kind I had left him. (Cats, amirite?) Also, she's super flexible and accommodating. My plans changed while I was gone during Thanksgiving, and Raquel was able to roll with the punches, with no problem whatsoever. I would 100% recommend her and Cat Servants to anyone.

My wife and I are rather stunned by all of the five-star reviews for Cat Servants as our experience was abysmal. I run a service oriented business myself and I would be mortified and endlessly apologetic if I provided a new client the atrocious level of customer service that I received from Raquel. The reason we reached out to Raquel was because of the stellar reviews and because she lived in our neighborhood. My initial conversation with her was promising, and we scheduled a time for her to come over and meet our cats. The day of the appointment she cancelled at the last minute without even an apology. We rescheduled for the following day, and she arrived an hour late, again without an apology. She then said her husband was running late (I presume she meant even later than she was) and told us she was going to wait for him in front of our building. After a few minutes I went outside to see what was going on, and she was gone. After waiting bewilderingly on my front stoop for several minutes, I checked my phone and saw a missed call from her. I called her back, and she said that her husband was running so late that they wanted to reschedule yet again so that they could both be there. Uh...yeah no, I let her know that we would be making other arrangements. Raquel and her husband were completely unprofessional and disrespectful of our time and didn't even seem to care as if they felt they were doing us a favor. As that was the level of service they provided to us, it didn't inspire any confidence whatsoever in the service they would provide our cats. [Screenshot of Raquel R.'s original reply to review, which she deleted, is posted below.] UPDATE 8/27/16: RE: Your reply to my review I find it "strange" and disturbing that you are implying my wife and I lied to you about having cats and meant to do you harm. That's textbook defamation and YOU are the one who should be concerned about legal action. You write that you did not see "anything pertaining to pets" well that's not true. You stood in our kitchen, where our cats food bowls are and you looked in our back room where their litter box, litter, water fountain etc. are. We then talked about how shy Nyx was and that it was unusual for Opie to not be in the kitchen with us as he is very extroverted and social. I then said I would try to fetch him which prompted my "disappearance" into my office, for a very brief moment, in order to try to coax him out so you could meet him. As far as my wife not talking to you, she, like I, was shocked that you didn't even bother to apologize after keeping us waiting for over an hour after cancelling on us last minute the day before. Did you try talking to her? Maybe starting with a simple "Hey, I'm sorry I was so late". I think its fair to say that most people wouldn't feel inclined to engage in light banter with a person who seems oblivious to why such a simple courtesy would be warranted. The reason we didn't become a "client" of yours is because before we could even get to that point the customer service you provided us was/is horrendous. Your untruthful, libelous and beyond the pale reply to my review has only made that "service" sink to even lower depths.

We could not be happier with Raquel!! We messaged her last minute and she was so so accommodating for a weeklong trip. She obviously cares so much about animals, and made us feel so much better about having to leave our little one! She sent daily updates on her time with snowie (our cat), and obviously went out of her way to make sure our cat felt loved and entertained! Moreover, she is very honest and reliable, at an extremely fair rate. One of our friends was supposed to feed her in the morning and she hadn't, and Raquel picked up on that and let us know and made sure she was fed! She sends recordings of her time and what she did, without needing to be asked at all. We love her and will definitely use her in the future!!

Our cats, Romeo and Hammie, love Raquel. She has cared for them on several occasions while we were traveling, and she always sends me text messages full of great photos so I know they are eating and doing OK in our absence. I've always been secure in the knowledge that our kitties were in good hands!

Our boy is a bit mischievous and likes to wander away from the group too much, so Wali offered to board him for a couple of weekends to work on training, and we definitely see improvement. Of course, we could've just hired a dog walker to walk our boy a couple of times a day while we're at work, but it's 100% worth the money for us to know that he's out enjoying nature and socializing with other dogs during the day, instead of just being bored on the couch between walks. And we love seeing the photos they post on Instagram! Would highly recommend Trail Tails to anyone with a pooch.

We recently moved and the worst part of moving was that we are longer be in the Trail Tails service area (it honestly weighed heavily in our decision, if that gives you an idea of how much we loved Trail Tails). Wali and his team are fantastic with dogs - they not only try to enforce good behavior (like recall and "playing nicely" with other dogs), but I can tell that they also show a lot of affection to these dogs and make sure "the pack" has an awesome time day in and day out, regardless of the weather. I also had my dog stay with Wali and his team over a few weekends and he seemed to have a great time. I also loved that they posted pics on Instagram regularly - it was so fun to see the dogs in action! (Including a pic of my dog at Trail Tails!) The only downside: there are some days when my dog got a bit dirty. But a quick sweep/vacuum was totally worth it - my dog had a blast and was always tired/happy at the end of the day when I got home. HIGHLY recommend Trail Tails!

However, we found Angel through DogVacay, and she was great - she was very quick to respond to all of our inquiries, and immediately available for us to bring the pups by for a face-to-face meeting. After meeting her, we felt our pups would be in great hands with her, and we were right! We dropped them off just before we had to leave for the airport; within about an hour, before we even reached the airport, we had an update (with pictures!) from Angel letting us know how the pups were settling in. We received a morning update everyday thereafter, including pictures, the occasional video, and a brief note about what they were up to. It looked like they were having a great time! It was immensely helpful and put our minds at ease; because we heard from Angel regularly, within her promised timeline (daily updates before noon each day), we were able to relax knowing that if there were any issues, large or small, we would be notified. Our return flight was cancelled due to snow (Jonas), and we were delayed more than a day getting back - but Angel was very reassuring, and took that worry off our plate. We missed our pups terribly, but they were in great hands and enjoyed their stay at Blue's Haven!

While I don't think my dog was mistreated, Carol Ann failed to communicate that anything was wrong which is a huge problem. When my husband asked her if she noticed anything while there she proceeded to say "well he did have a slight cough at one point, but I called and told you". This was a complete lie, she never called him once while we were away. Since then we've had to take him to the vet twice, my dog has not been the same at all, lacks energy, is throwing up and not once has she even been sympathetic or apologetic. Instead she was defensive, rude, talked over him when he was trying to explain everything that was going on, and sounded like she was whining more than anything. We later realized that while she asked if my dog was vaccinated, she never asked for the proof and so I think she doesn't check for proper documentation- allowing anyone to leave their dog at her daycare. Lesson learned, never again.

I was a long-time client, and this last experience was disturbing enough that I've ended the relationship completely. In my view, this clinic is very quick to upsell and mark up fees when clients are vulnerable and under time pressure. I came in on 5/5/26 for an international health certificate and USDA endorsement for my psychiatric service dog. I sent all information up front, including that I have a documented disability and a prescription for a psychiatric service dog. Instead of handling that professionally, staff repeatedly talked to me as if I was trying to "game the system," saying things like "when people come, they bring a letter," and pushed back when I tried to preserve some privacy. Once I did provide the letter I had the entire time, the owner's first move was to try to add extra, unrelated services that were not required, and then imply she'd "mark things OK" on the certificate as if she was doing me a favor. The invoice tells its own story: $81 for the exam and $17 for medication, but then $189 for the "International Health Certificate," $238 for "USDA electronic endorsement VEHCS," and another $189 for "USDA Rabies Certificate Endorsement," for a total of $714. USDA's own fee schedule for endorsement is far lower than what they labeled as "USDA" endorsement charges, and they had already added a separate clinic fee for their services. In my opinion, that is an outrageous markup of what are presented as federal endorsement costs, especially when a disabled client is relying on them to follow the rules. The endorsement itself was processed by the USDA the same day it was submitted on 5/5. I did not hear anything from the clinic on 5/6 or 5/7 -- no proactive update, no documents, and no word about the "refund" they had told me I might receive depending on what USDA charged. I had to chase them for basic information and for copies of documents that I needed, regardless of any fee dispute. Only after I escalated did I get a voicemail from the owner claiming they had been "disputing with USDA," which had never been communicated earlier. The office manager also tried to tell me the VEHCS system "asks for a letter" as if that justified their resistance, when in reality the system requires the vet to answer whether the dog is a service animal and what tasks it's trained to do. I've seen the system myself. The way they handled this felt less like a good-faith attempt to follow federal rules and more like protecting their markup. This isn't a one-off. When my previous elderly dog was seen shortly before she passed, I was presented with a workup of bloodwork, X‑rays, and other tests around $1,000, and then given a verbal cancer diagnosis almost immediately after the X‑rays, before blood results could reasonably have been reviewed. I never received a call with those blood results. Even though the same owner accommodated me when I couldn't be present for euthanasia, none of that history translated into any sensitivity or accommodation this time around. To be clear, I'm willing to pay for the actual exam and medication. I've disputed the remaining $616 in certificate/"USDA" charges with my bank and will take it to small claims court if I have to. In my view, this clinic mishandled a straightforward request, overcharged heavily for endorsement-related items, and treated a disabled client as if they were trying to get away with something instead of providing clear, honest service. I've since moved to a different vet who was able to handle the paperwork promptly and transparently. I would recommend anyone with a disability, a service animal, or international travel needs to think very carefully before trusting Inwood Animal Clinic with critical paperwork or relying on them for clear, upfront pricing.
